Thank you to NetGalley for the E-Arc in exchange for an honest review.
The title and the plot of the book was intriguing to me; I loved Princess Diaries, so I was excited to read this. Unfortunately, the romance and chemistry between the characters fell a little flat to me. I was confused by the instant attraction by the MMC and his dirty talking withing the first couple chapters.....I wanted the slow burn and banter that you normally get in a grumpy/sunshine book. The grump was not grumpy enough for me and the flirting right off the bat took me out if it.
I wanted more depth in the plot, everything seemed brushed over.....even the romantic scenes were rushed.
I liked it, I just wanted more substance!

Bear and Liss are truly wonderful characters! And throughout this book I loved seeing their dynamic, and also their interactions not only around each other but with their friends.
The plot of this book was a perfect mix of The Princess diaries and Barbie princess charm school which was right up my street!
The ending of the book was suspenseful, and I did enjoy the twist, it added a thriller element to the book which I loved!
However, this book was insta love which although I’ve read before, didn’t appeal to me this time unfortunately. I didn’t enjoy the speech between the two, and felt it was unnatural and often focused solely on the spice of the book and that they as a couple didn’t truly learn much about each other. As a reader I love to see couples not only be together romantically, but to also have friendship as a backing, and due to their instant love, I felt it wasn’t really as clear.
If you are a fan of insta love I highly urge you read this book because it is a perfect option for those tropes! I did enjoy this authors writing and will try another of her books, because I would love to find one that I do fully enjoy, perhaps with tropes more accustomed to my liking.
Thank you again!

DNF at 19%. Thank you NetGalley for the e-arc. The premise of this sounded so good; I’m a Rhys Larsen girlie till the day I die, so was very intrigued by this grumpy/sunshine, forbidden bodyguard romance— it’s one of my my absolute favourite sub genre to read.
This starts with Liss, the FMC, finding out that she’s the granddaughter to the King. Her Nan had an affair with the King, many years ago, and the King, who is now dying, has just announced that he has a second family.
Honestly, this really could have rivalled The Crown, with the drama at the beginning, but I don’t know if it was the fast pacing of how this began, or because certain scenes just felt a bit choppy/abrupt; I mean, I’m ten chapters in and I’m struggling to make sense of everything that’s unfolding. And then, to add, Liss and Bear, her newly assigned bodyguard are lusting after one other, like they’ve literally just met— I don’t know, something felt amiss about it for me.

Liss is an average twenty-something woman with a regular job working in a bar...until the day she learns during a televised broadcast that her grandma had an affair with the king decades ago and she might be his granddaughter. The dying king's announcement throws Liss into a world of paparazzi, royal parties, and death threats. But it also gives her hope that she could finally be part of a family, something she's wanted her whole life and especially after her mum died when Liss was nineteen. Now she has to decide if she's ready to give up her privacy, safety, and independence to be a princess.
To protect Liss in all this danger and stress is her swoonworthy new bodyguard, Bear. He’s cheeky, grumpy, and has secret tattoos beneath his suits. He’s also stubborn and bossy and clashes with Liss constantly. But Bear has a soft side too. He sits with Liss when she sleeps to make sure she doesn’t have nightmares and buys her stunning ball gowns to make her happy. It's not long before all the bickering and tension morphs into sizzling hot chemistry. Both Liss and Bear know that giving into their attraction is a terrible idea...but it's getting harder and harder to fight their feelings for each other.
This was a fun story about discovering identity. There's tons of fun banter, and I love the lost royalty trope, so I thought this was a great premise. The beginning was a little slow and awkward for me, but it picked up and I really ended up enjoying it!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced digital reader's copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review!

I am a hugeeeee body guard trope girlie. Let me just say this is in my top 3. I loved Liss and bear so much. Think a more grown up princess diaries but better way better. And also with a hot bodyguard.

I loved this book, it’s the perfect mix of The Princess Diaries and The Bodyguard.
Liss the FMC discovers she’s the Kings granddaughter, she’s feisty and outspoken which initially proves difficult with her new found family but as the story goes on it’s exactly what’s needed.
Bear her Bodyguard is tasked to keep Liss safe, he can’t afford to fall for her….do we see what’s going to happen her lol. All jokes aside their was some spicy scenes 🌶️🌶️
This wasn’t just a simple boy meets girl romance, I really enjoyed the depth of sub plot (no spoilers)
Thank you NetGalley, Rebecca Chase and the Victory Editing for this ARC, all opinions expressed are my own.

I really enjoyed this book! The characters were well written and I loved their dynamic. I'm always going to lean toward a protector/protectee dynamic, especially when the MMC is grumpy! This was such a great grumpy sunshine relationship. Would definitely recommend!

A really lighthearted and fun romance but with a definite bit of heat! I thought it was going to be a bit too much with it's over the top theme but a really loved it. The balance was just right, it's a great read.

I would like to note that I received this ARC with the mindset that I would provide an honest review.

The shopping list of tropes should tell you already that this book was well worth the read. Overall I rated this book 3.5/5 stars.
The book gave me the Princess Diaries feelings that I have been craving for years. It is more adult than the movie, so no worries there!
Liss quickly discovers that her grandfather may be the king and she is now in need of a body guard. We then meet our grumpy MMC, Bear. I really liked Bear but the instant lust for him was a little much. While the book is labeled enemies to lovers, I would say it is more two strong personalities thrown together within the forced proximity trope. The two are with each other so much that the relationship was bound to develop rather quickly.
I think that a dual pov would have really helped the story along so that we could get inside Bear’s mind and see what he was thinking/feeling.
The found family aspect was my favorite part about this book. As someone who has lost a parent, the journey that Liss went through throughout this book really hit home for me. She really wants to have that family, and that sense of belonging, and this story developed that trope nicely.
This book was fun and worth the read. I would definitely recommend this book to those who enjoy light romance/found family books and to those that just enjoy a story that leaves you wanting more.

The premise of this book was so fun and adorable. I loved Liss, but I spent most of this book feeling sorry for her, and she spent most of this book asleep. There were some interesting parts with some plot movement and action that made the story really shine and the characters interesting. Overall, I felt like Bear and Liss teased each other into a relationship and while I didn't hate that part, I did feel like there was more backstory or growth of the characters to be had that would've made this story much better and more cohesive for me.

This book was so good! The storyline, the plot, the plot twists at the end, the spice. All of it was so good

I love a bodyguard romance, and thought a princess diaries esque book would be a lot of fun, so I was really excited for this book! Unfortunately, I felt that it didn’t meet my expectations.
The plot is fairly minimal in this book. The majority of the book comes from conversations / build up between the two MCs. It’s definitely an insta love, but there’s still a drawn out period before there’s any moves made between the two.
In terms of the story outside the romance, I found it pretty predictable. I’m usually able to stay in the moment while reading, but in this book it was very clear where each “twist” would unfold.
I did find the characters fairly likable, and am curious where Striker’s story will lead!

This book was slow to start for me and I almost put it down. I am glad I kept reading because as the story developed I enjoyed it more than I did at the start.
The theme of this book is a great one and it is an easy read. I just did not connect with it as much as I do with other similar stories, I can't put my finger on what I didn't love though. I wish I could be more helpful with this review, it was just an okay read for me I gues..

OMG, book was so good! The storyline, the plot, the plot twists at the end, the spice. All of it was so good. 5/5 stars for sure :)))

Helloooo Princess Diaries for grown ups!!
Liss chaotically discovers she might be the king’s granddaughter, making her forced into a dangerous and glamorous royal life. Her new bodyguard, Bear, protects her (and there is definitely some tension between them )
They were two very strong personalities, so getting them together was a BATTLE and I was hear for it.
Kids and Bears constant bickering and chemistry made the perfect enemies-to-lovers storyline. Throw in one of my favorite childhood movies and you have a win all around!

-princess diaries
-enemies to lovers

I really loved this book! If you love the princess diaries then you will love this book. It is a fast paced well written romance that I think a lot of people will love!

Very much enjoyed this story. I fully 5 stars from me.
This is a bodyguard, grumpy man, steamy sex scenes romance which has the feel of princess diaries but for adults. Also a little bit like the one series too. I would highly recommend.

Unfortunately, this book wasn't for me, dnf 35%.
The concept was good and I've only read one Princess vs Bodyguard, but this book seemed very rushed.
At 5% our fmc was already making comments about the bodyguard. I felt 0 chemistry between them. It was a kind of instant love and I hate that, especially when you still have 300 pages to read.
The writing was great, I really enjoyed it, fast and entertaining. The characters and relationships were undeveloped and that was the biggest problem for me.
I want to thank NetGalley and the Author for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A concept that should be easy to sell but this book fell a little short.
We're flung right into the action - Liss finding out she's royalty, the bodyguard (Bear) being an obnoxious so-and-so.
Sadly, the characters feel very under developed. I wasn't able to make it past chapter six, as I just couldn't bond with them and their chemistry wasn't there for me.
Unfortunate for me. But I can imagine some will find it enjoyable - especially a slightly younger audience (I'm 26, I imagine an 18-21 year old would eat this up - I know I probably would've done back then).

I DNF this book at 65%. I tried to like it, I really did, but unfortunately I couldn’t get into it. The concept of this book was really good, but everything else after that didn’t do it for me. The dialogue was cringy, I thought the insta-lust was a little much, and the characters relationships were underdeveloped. I’m really sorry, but this book was just not for me.
