This was a well-written novel that included suspense, time travel, environmentalism, terrorism, and more. The story came together surprisingly well at the end.
Ethan is a college student who stumbles onto a time travel portal in the ocean, which takes him back 50 years. He finds Denise and her boyfriend and they help him out, not realizing he is a time traveler. An oil spill leads to riots in the town and then, an explosion kills the night janitor who helped Ethan on his first night in the past. Who set the bomb and why?
The implications have resounding effects that carry into the future. Ethan is from 2023. Denise is from 1969. Her boyfriend ends up making a decision that he regrets for many years. I loved the ending though.
Time travel novels are really fun to read. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. The fact that Ethan can go back and forth between the two time periods makes a great plot device. He sees people in both places and ends up putting things together. I thought the entire story was handled very skillfully by the author. I look forward to reading more by this author in the future.
