I have no shame in admitting I chuckled at a few of these. Super cute!this is the perfect holiday book for kids and families to share!
The Christmas Jokebook is a novelty of zingers, perfect for Dads to embarress their children with, or young pranksters new to cracking puns. This book organizes its Christmas jokes by the following themes: food, music, apparel, lore, trees, snow, animals, presents, famous stories. Additionally, there is a section for wintery fairy tales, though I felt this section was a stretch in relevance.
The book also includes various fun facts about christmas traditions and how they originated. These side blurbs made a nice break from the jokes, which I think will exhaust most readers to go through in a single sitting - The book delivers so much!
The book is illustrated with bright photographs for nearly every joke. The bold colors of the background spreads give its pages a fun and festive pop. I really enjoyed the full page spreads for a single joke or blurb because they broke up how busy most of the pages felt and gave my eyes a rest.
Thanks to National Geographic Kids and Collins Reference for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Well, this is the (Christmas) gift that keeps on giving. Having spent quite a number of years on this planet and being immensely proud that there aren’t any Christmas cracker jokes that I haven’t known the answer to, to date, this was quite eye opening. The pages keep coming and the jokes keep flowing, from the familiar to the not so familiar. I honestly hadn’t appreciated that there could be quite so many. I loved that they were organised into categories and were in dispersed with interesting facts, of which, quite a few that were new to me. I even broke my own rule of not entertaining Christmas until at least mid November, such was my enthusiasm for this book. The cheery and colourful illustrations were great too, very eye catching and really draws you in. My only problem now is that I’ll have to remember my favourite ones for over a month to amaze and entertain my friends and family. Lovely collection, very enjoyable.
This is hilarious I love the dad jokes and this is a festive marvel. Be a big part of family Christmas Day, no one is too old for jokes so a perfect gift for all to enjoy the festive fun. I was really impressed with this book and happily shared most with my son.

I thought that this book was great!
I read a copy on my Kindle and have just ordered a copy for my daughter to have for Christmas - this is packed with the kind of jokes that she loves so I am sure it will be a hit with her and we will heard the jokes, and little facts, many times over the festive period.
It is 4 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!
National Geographic books are always a big hit with our family. The combination of brightly coloured photos, short, sharp text and on brand theming makes them a go to for family events and trips.
The Christmas Joke Book is no exception, and we found the jokes hilarious (even at the wrong time of year!). It would make a great gift to give, or to bring out at parties to keep everyone entertained!
A great joke book for kids, my son loves a joke book and really enjoyed this one. a great Christmas gift for the wee comedian in your life.
We all know the stereotype of crackers having dreadful jokes in, well here's the book form. 300 groaners, with very little joy for the real joke connoisseur, but plenty for the young wisecracker to say out loud and hope to gain a titter from. It's colourful, with photos galore and some trivia factoids about the season too, but the heart of it is the gags, with their punchlines presented upside down just in case we're answering along as we go.
However, just when you give up on things and leave this for the very junior members of the family, you get a kind of Tim Vine humdinger, that you can easily imagine more people saying and more people enjoying. "I have this incredible ability to predict what's inside a wrapped present. It's a gift." "My only present was a deck of sticky playing cards. I find that hard to deal with." Now, these, for being dry and classy and clever, stick out like a sore thumb from the primary school wordplay, and at least keep you on your toes. I guess it's a way of making sure that here is something for everyone – we do get some gentle seasonal riddles as well, after all. It's just that the rest can feel off, and I mean thoroughly off – I've seen better quips written by AI than some of these. If this was intended to be a right Christmas pudding, a complete mixture with a lot of ripeness to it, then it succeeded. For me it's not something I'd cast my mince pies over often.
Christmas Joke Book is a fun book for kids who love a little humour over the holidays. There are a lot of laugh out loud jokes and it is sure to help get kids into the holiday spirit this year. Definitely add this book to your gift giving list!

It is exactly six months until Christmas Day, so - in today's post - I am going to review a festive-themed book that is scheduled to be published in September.
Whilst looking through a list of titles available to read - and review - on the NetGalley website a few weeks ago, I immediately stopped at the National Geographic Kids Christmas Joke Book.
'Perfect,' I thought.
Every Christmas, for the past few years, I have found myself taking out a Christmas joke book and sharing the jokes with friends. The amount of groans they have generated have been countless. Seeing the National Geographic book available to review meant one thing: more ammunition for Christmastime.
The book is filled with tons of jokes. Many I am sure will get the desired 'groan' reaction when I share them in the build up to the big day.
But, that's not all.
The people at the National Geographic have included a plethora of facts within the pages. I thought these were a bonus because I managed to learn some things I didn't know about before. Like, for example, there are 300 Million mince pies eaten every Christmastime.
So, yes, I will absolutely enjoy opening this book back up in a little under six months from bow even though I am far older than the target age of seven years or above.
The National Geographic Christmas Joke Book would make for a perfect holiday gift. However, I feel it would best be given as something to hand over in the build up to Christmas rather than on the day. Gifting it early will allow children to seek out the best (or worst!) Christmas jokes to execute during family gatherings. They'll also be able to gather up the facts that are scattered across the book's pages.
Thank you to Collins & Net Galley for the ARC
A fun, amusing, entertaining concept. The main flaw in a digital format is the fact that all the answers are upside down, so it's really not convenient nor seamless at all to read them all on screen. It would be far easier to leaf through the book using a paper-based book that you can turn over.
So, "Christmas Joke Book" is an inspiring piece, just not easily usable in all formats.
