This was an interesting read. Nothing like I expected going into it.
While it did keep my interest throughout it didn't wow me.
I found some things left unanswered. The story is a little weird at times and overall felt a bit rushed at the end.

I didn't enjoy this book as I found it very useful settling. At first I thought it was a thriller then a horror then back to a rather disturbing read. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Macabre reading in places. Is this condition a known fact in children or is it fantasy?

School teacher found murdered, but did a 4 year old really kill her or are there other forces lurking in this nursery?

Fast paced with a few red herrings thrown in, and unfortunate ending for one parent and her family.

Thank you for letting me read this pre release.

Stunning! I loved every, single thing about this book. It's clever, it's funny, it's razor sharp and also extremely moving. This is such an original, brilliantly written book - I can't recommend it highly enough. I was unsure of what I'd find as a book about blood-thirsty children didn't really appeal to me. Instead, what I found was a fantastically clever and insightful novel about modern parenting and just how far mothers will go to both prove themselves as parents and protect their children. Absolutely brilliant from start to finish.

I did not enjoy this book as much as I was expecting. Not realizing that children biting and craving the taste of blood is a known syndrome, I thought at the beginning that this was going to be more of a horror story rather than a murder mystery! It is all that and more. I deals with just how far a parent will go to protect their children. I did struggle with the characters and how they were intertwined with each other. I had to re read sections to understand the complexity of all the relationships, and because of that I felt I lost the 'thread' of the story a little. Although I finished the book it was not really a story for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK, Vintage for the advance copy.

I would not have thought a child-vampire type thriller would have been entertaining but it was!
A thriller without being to dark.
Well written and great characters.
Something different for me but thoroughly enjoyable.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy.

Super funny, astutely observed portrait of motherhood, told through a hilarious analogy drawn between the 'biting phase' and toddler vampirism. An intriguing murder mystery is interwoven with amusing portraits of different 'mum types' (I was going to say stereotypes but they are more deeply observed than that), and resonant, vivid, raw depictions of the joys and challenges and taboos of parenting and relationships. I really enjoyed this and found it highly page turning - a great, light-hearted holiday read but with an interesting, meaningful take. Answering the mystery will draw you along. Recommended! Thanks to Netgalley & the publishers for the opportunity to read.

I enjoyed Chandler Baker's The Husbands, which was a gender-flipped version of The Stepford Wives, so I was intrigued to read Cutting Teeth, which promised an epidemic of vampiric four-year-olds at an exclusive preschool. Sadly, this one didn't work as well for me. I'm not quite sure it knows what it wants to be: is it an exploration of the pressures on mothers, a murder mystery, or a darker satire about how children bleed you dry? Personally, I wanted more of the latter and less of the former, as there are plenty of domestic thrillers about the unreasonable expectations placed on mothers already. Baker somehow manages to make this premise feel almost too normal, as she labels the children's biting and blood-drinking 'paediatric Renfield's syndrome' (RM Renfield is Dracula's servant in the original Dracula) and makes it seem like a behavioural phase. I wanted her to push the concept further, make it darker and weirder, and yet have the mothers still desperately try to rationalise it. There are still some nicely twisted moments, and it's a fun read, but less original than I'd hoped. 3.5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.

This was a very twisty and addicting thriller. I was actually concerned that the book was going to be quite scary (as I am. not a fan of horror), but even though it was about children-vampires, it wasn't that dark. I would maybe call it comedy horror, And Chandler Baker is definitely the queen of Suburban fiction! I am looking forward to Chandler Baker's next novel!
