This story is truly unique because it follows a daughter’s quest to uncover the truth behind her mother’s sudden disappearance many years ago. As she delves deeper, she finds clues that suggest her mother’s murder, but she must gather more evidence to reopen the case. Determined to achieve her goal, she sets out on this challenging journey.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story’s well-crafted narrative and the strong sense of guidance she feels from her mother. However, I found the character relationships a bit peculiar, but overall, I found the story captivating and enjoyable.

I was attracted to this book by the synopsis. I will say it is a slow burner which moved a little bit too slow for my liking.

Erin's mother Gina disappeared when she was 12 and she's never stopped looking for her. Now, she's shocked to discover that her mother stayed ay the same inn where she's vacationing. There's a dark secret (no spoilers from me) and while the plot might feel familiar, you, like me, should fine Erin relatable. Thanks to the publisher for the ARC. A good read.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Erin is taking a much needed vacation. She later learns that her mother visited the same place she is staying at. Her mother went missing years ago never to be heard from again. . Thus book kept getting better. I liked this book.

When Erin was twelve years old her mother disappeared without a trace.
Years later Erin is on holiday and finds that her mother stayed in that same location. Erin now starts to look for clues to find out what really happened to her mother.
A slow moving mystery with some good characters.
Thank you to NetGalley and Severn House for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

Erin has, understandably, never recovered from her mother's disappearance when she was only 12 years old. Now, as an adult, when she comes across unexpected information regarding her mother's activities *after* her disappearance, she is both intrigued and confused.

Some of the answers lie closer to home than she imagines, but there is a cost to unravelling conspiracies. And determined as she is to get to the bottom of what happened to her mother Gina, Emma has no idea of the danger she is putting herself in by following this particular trail. So, how much is the truth worth to her?

This is a compelling tale with an interesting and original storyline. The protagonist is a relatable character, and the reader will sympathise with her predicament and the dilemma that she faces. This gets 3.5 stars.

Thanks to Severn House and NetGalley for the ARC. A different kind of mystery. The writing was well done and rich with detail. A slow moving tale about a woman looking for her mother who disappeared. Give it a go if you need a change of scenery from the typical domestic type mystery. Well done.
