Yet another Portia Macintosh book that I absolutely love! If you’re looking for a light hearted, holiday read then look no further!
Oh to be Robin and have a work holiday like this!
The beginning is meeting Robin and her work colleagues, Rick, James and Liz. She really likes James but her work / life rival Liz also does too and seemingly what Liz wants Liz gets!
Their boss is taking them away for work with his wedding added on to the end and Robin decides to see if her childhood penpal Andrea is around whilst she’s in Italy. Will it be a fun time away where Robin gets James to notice her? Or will Liz get in the way again?! Read and find out!
Definitely recommend!

This book just exudes fun and happiness. Like most of Portia’s novels, they’re a little far fetched - but actually that doesn’t distract at all from the fact they’re compelling reads and will make you smile. Excellent, well rounded characters and pacey prose will keep you turning the pages. A quick holiday read that will keep you feeling light and happy.

This was such a fun read! I loved the setting and how it all turned out for Robin. I really couldn't stand James and Lize, Lize was so mean and James BAH I have no words for that man. I think this is the perfect book to read this summer The way that the author describes all the food and the places they went to visit makes you want to leave for Italy immediately. It is a short/quick read and I highly recommend it.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'It's All Sun And Games' by Portia MacIntosh.

This may be the first book I have read by this author but it most definitely will not be my last!!!

Well I am ABSOLUTELY gutted to come to the end of this book as it ends my stunning sofa holiday 😭

This book is beautifully written and completely absorbs you in the stunning atmosphere of Italy completely sucking you in with the vivid descriptions leaving you feel the warmth of the the sun and smell of the wine. The synopsis and cover suits the storyline perfectly.

The storyline is authentic, fun and realistic as well as easy to read and heart-warming. It is just one of those absolutely stunning books that promises the reader gets completely lost in the pages for hours. I absolutely loved delving deep into the pages and getting lost exploring Italy for hours!!! I genuinely felt like I had packed my suitcase leaving rainy Wales for the stunning Italian sun. I could see the stunning surroundings, taste the gorgeous food and feel the heat on my skin while certain events were unfolding. I have no idea where this author has been hiding all my life but i am so pleased that I have finally discovered and got stuck into one of her books and have already added all her previous books to my Amazon wish list while I wait for the next one to come out. It is one of those brilliant books that will turn a frown upside down and keep you smiling long after you have finished the last page and closed the book. Once I had picked iy up I was completely hooked from the very start and ended up walking around with my kindle glued to my hands. I gave up pretending that I was just going to read one more chapter and then get on with any house work as every time one ended I just HAD to start reading the next!! this happened over and over again and before I knew it I had completely devoured the book several hours late in one sitting!! You will want to book the day off whatever you had planned as once you pick up this book and turn the pages I can guarantee you will not want to put it down!! The storyline was filled with a range of emotions and was heart-warming and funny and was filled with friendship, fun, romance, sun, comedy, food, love, laughter, relationships, stunning locations and absolutely everything and anything you could ask for in a gorgeous book and all going on in this beautiful atmosphere. With Portia's stunningly evocative writing skills and descriptions I swear I got a tan just reading this stunning book as the storyline, surroundings and characters came to life around me!! It felt like an absolutely stunning holiday away from a rainy Wales!! I loved how the story ended and I would love to read more about the life in this gorgeous Italian place. An absolutely stunning read!!!

AN ABSOLUTELY STUNNING MUST READ!! Clear your schedules, grab your tissues and get ready to go on a journey of a lifetime!!!

The characters were all unique with their own realistic traits, strengths and weaknesses. It was intriguing to watch
Robin, Andrea, James, Liz and Rick's and friendships/relationships grow, develop and change throughout the the storyline. It wasn't just their behaviours/communication/relationships/friendships that I loved watching though and became completely invested in but also that of all the other characters surrounding them. While watching the characters interactions develop and change my own opinion on each of them also changed and I went from thinking some of them were annoying or nice to seeing a huge difference by the end and going from wanting to throttle some to absolutely adoring them and vice versa!!! They brought emotions out in me from anger to happiness, laughter and joy to sadness and despair, an absolute emotional rollercoaster from the start to the beautiful end!!! It was absolutely amazing to watch the personalities and relationships between all the characters grow, develop and bond and I would so love to meet SOME of them again. Portia's fantastic descriptions brings them to life and it is clear as day that she genuinely cares about her characters in the way she ensures that they leap from the pages!! regardless of how you feel about each of the characters each and every one of them worked perfectly with the storyline and I would love to see this made into a series or even a movie!!!

Well done Portia on an absolutely stunning and fun escapism, I cannot wait to get stuck into your previous and future books which are all guaranteed to be page turners if this one is anything to go by!

A MASSIVE WELL DONE to Portia on a HUGELY stunning success!!! I loved every page of your book and I cannot wait to read more of your past and hopefully future books. Congratulations you are now one of my favourite authors! Here's to your next success 🥂

Overall a true page turning, perfect and stunning romcom that will sweep you off your feet and land you in Italy in the blink of an eye!!

Robin is going on a work trip to Italy, but this is a place for her to unwind and show her work crush what she can really be like.
But things get complicated when Robin’s penpal, Andrea, is not who she expects and miscommunications lead to the two having to plan a fake relationship.
MacIntosh does it again with this fun beach read, unique characters, and a narrative that had me laughing out loud.
This is one author I will pick every time and one I recommend to any romance lover’s favourite authors list.

This was the epitome of a beach read! It was light and fun and just what I hoped for from Portia MacIntosh. I loved these characters and didn't want this one to end.

While I thought this was a cute story the MC came across as a bit naive for her age. The story flowed well but it seemed a bit strange that there were so many challenges set up by the boss for a business trip. The connection between Robin and Andrea also felt very insta love and there wasn’t too much relating back to their penpal connection. I would have like to see the MC come into her own a bit more instead of everything relating back to Andrea and his skills. His family was my favorite part of the story. Overall, I’d say it was a decent read. Definitely a fun beach read for sure but most of the characters lacked depth so it was hard to connect with on a deeper level.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

I absolutely adore Macintosh's books, they're fun, lighthearted and thoroughly enjoyable.

It's All Sun and Games is the latest romantic comedy from Macintosh. It's set in Italy and comes complete with two of my favourite tropes; fake dating and friends to lovers.

I loved the quirky characters, they really made the story fun with their hijinks and humour.

The perfect poolside escapism. Highly recommended by me.

Thanks kindly to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This latest title from Portia Macintosh is light reading. The novel traverses a love triangle in southern Italy between Portia, who works in marketing, James, her long-time work crush, and Andrea, her Italian childhood pen pal.

The writing doesn't take itself too seriously, and is peppered with lightly comedic translation errors.

My major gripe was that the love triangle wasn't overly convincing - one suitor was clearly high-key problematic, and this was repeatedly acknowledged by the protagonist. It made the book easy to put down when I had enough at the end of a sitting.

Overall an okay read - just not enough to satisfy my romcom appetite.

It’s All Sun and Games is Portia MacIntosh’s latest mistaken-identity, love triangle romantic comedy set in Italy. While the characters are British and Italian and the story contains British phrasing, it is easy for Americans to understand. There is no profanity or sex scenes.

It’s All Sun and Games is an enjoyable summer romance that contains many funny scenes. Robin is an ambitious career woman who is hoping to attract the attention of her work crush, James, while on a weeklong business trip to Italy. Unfortunately, her work rival, Liz, is also on the trip. She realizes that they will be in the same town that her childhood pen pal, Andrea, is from, so she makes arrangements to reconnect with her. Then she gets a big surprise when she discovers that Andrea is a hunky man! Robin gets another surprise when she arrives at Andrea’s home and his family mistakes her for his fiancé.

The workplace dynamics at Robin’s advertising agency are toxic, and her work crush, James, is a loser. So the love-triangle exists for a very short time. Readers will probably like Andrea more than Robin, because he is just perfect. Andrea’s family is wonderful, and their antics add to the storyline. All the food descriptions make me want to book a trip to Italy for myself. If you are looking for a clean romantic comedy with little drama or angst, then It’s All Sun and Games is your weekend escapist read.

Portia MacIntosh delivers a new charming rom-com with It’s All Sun and Games. Robin works for an advertising agency that is taking a trip to Italy in preparation for a new campaign. Hoping to come off as an expert in Italian culture and to make herself seem more valuable to her company, she reaches out to a childhood penpal, Andrea. Well somehow Robin never knew her penpal Andrea was a guy. The storyline jumps into one of my favorite tropes, ala fake dating. While I will admit the storyline is somewhat predictable, I’m honestly fine with that. I find comfort in romcoms following well worn paths. Lovable characters and a fun story make this one an excellent beach read. Thanks so much to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for allowing me access to an eARC of It’s All Sun and Games.

When Robin and her colleagues get assigned a team trip to Italy, she is thrilled because she thinks it will be the perfect chance to escape the daily grind and also show her work crush James anew side to her. She’s doubly excited when she realizes that she’s going to be in the town where her childhood penpal lives, giving her the chances to reconnect with an old, long lost friend. However, things take a twist when Andrea turns out to not be a girl as she thought all these years, but a hunky Italian man whose family, through a series of miscommunications, thinks that Robin is his fiancé when she arrives and they embrace her into the family with open arms. Robin and Andrea make a pact to help each other out, and what follows is a series of comedic and romantic entanglements which had me laughing out loud.
The story of both funny and heartwarming and a classic take on the friends to lovers trope and the setting of Italy is so vividly portrayed I felt like I was there taking part in the trip alongside the characters.
With quirky supporting characters, loads of humor, fake dating, one bed scenario, travel to exotic locale, weddings there really is something for everyone in this book. Portia is quickly becoming a fav author for me.
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review.

This is a perfect holiday read by the side of the pool. A pretty straightforward story but I loved the setting and all the food. Andrea was a bit too perfect really and I felt a bit sorry for the best friend left at home but other than that it was a good, easy summer read with some funny moments especially the lost in translation parts.

This was such a fun book to read! I loved the characters and all their interactions.

Robin's work is leading her and her team to Italy to pitch a marketing campaign to a new client. In the midst, her boss is throwing himself a destination wedding while they're all in Italy. She's also using this opportunity to make a move on her hot co-worker, James. Robin realizes the area they're going to is where her childhood pen pal is from and decides to reach out to her about finally meeting in person while she's there. Only a mishap at the airport when she lands leads to finding out a misunderstanding about the pen pal. From there the whole storyline takes off and it's such a fun and wild ride!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.

A typical romantic comedy that did not do much in the way of character development.

While there were enjoyable bits to the story, it was predictable and lacked that development.

Thank you to Net Galley and Boldwood Books for the eARC.

4.5 stars rounded up!

This was my second book by this author and this was just as fun as the other one I read! I had an excellent time reading this. I had a smile on my face pretty much the entire time.

Without giving away anything major, I would say that one of the major things that happens in this book is usually not my cup of tea. However, I absolutely loved it in this book.

It was cute, fun, and the perfect romcom! Would highly recommend reading this!
