This started off great but eventually I just lost interest and struggled to finish it. The audiobook narration was fine but the story just didn't work for me.

This was a lot of fun but I didn't connect with the characters. I loved the story line though and definitely would recommend

I was really excited to read this, as I love Barcelona, and second chance romance. But this book just didn't live up those expectations. The narration is good, but I just wasnt in love with this story.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this audio.

I really enjoyed this book. I wasn’t sure in the beginning if I would like it but I did. Such a cute love story. The narrators did great!! Just the right amount of humor romance and spice!

2.5 stars rounded up.

this was a sweet summer romance! the characters and plot were sweet, tender, and oh so fun to read. I loved the dual timelines and pov’s, it really helped understand the different sides to the story. I didn’t love the elements of cheating, and shallow-stereotypical elements of body image and queerness. the story just lacked some nuance and sensitivity that took away from the story for me.

I thought the narration was perfect for this story.

thank you so much for the alc!

I just listened to Summer Ever After and it was cute. It was the story of a woman reunited 10 years later with an old summer fling in Spain. Some of these summer romcom books start to blend together for me and this book definitely falls into that category. But it was cute in the moment and kept me occupied on my commute to the office all week. I did love the food descriptions since many scenes took place in a restaurant. And I always love a second chance romance.

A tender, moving British second chance romance told through flashbacks of their first summer meeting abroad and their reunion ten years later.

I loved this story about a dutiful English daughter with a demanding obese, single mother who has given up her dreams to live at home and who finally takes a chance on what she wants, returning to Barcelona and her life goal of being a restaurant chef as well as the man who stole her heart all those years ago.

Perfect for fans of People we meet on vacation by Emily Henry and anyone who enjoys a good starting over in midlife story! Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!!

Sadly, I had to force myself to finish this one. The characters had no qualities I found interesting... It was a rough one!

Thank you for this ARC.

This book was not my favorite but I’ll start with the things I did like. I loved the setting. I loved the different POVs and the fact that one was glimpses of the past and one was present. I liked the side characters.

Unfortunately that was about it for what I enjoyed. The main characters relationship with her mother was so codependent and frustrating. The main cause for all her guilt and enabling could have been solved with a conversation but she was too immature to have one. Same with her failed relationship with the MMC. Could have been solved with a conversation years ago. If there is one thing I can’t stand it’s a miscommunication trope. So I guess if that doesn’t bother you then you might enjoy it more than me. Also the romance just didn’t hit. There didn’t seem to be any chemistry.

If you enjoy family drama this might be a good one for you but if you’re looking for a good summer romance this wouldn’t be my top recommendation.

This was a fun travel/romance book about second chances. I didn't particularly connect to this book or feel it was very captivating. I listened passively and thought it was good, not great.

This was ok for me... my issue was with the representation of a lot of the supporting characters; many were bi, disabled, queer and all of them felt like caricatures of those stereotypes.... i am sure she was going for diversity but it really backfired.

I also really dislike the third act miscommunication... it feels... lazy and over done?

A summer beach read. The food descriptions and second chance at love is what pulled me into this book. The descriptions of the setting in Barcelona make me want to pack my bags and travel there for the summer. The audiobook is narrated by Karina Fernandez and Joe Gaminara. It is told in a dual timeline with flashbacks ten years in the past and present day.

I did not finish this book. I was approved for the audio from the publisher on netgalley and also received it as an Amazon first reads. At first I thought, maybe it’s the audio, I tend to find some accents hard to follow on audio, so I switched to the book on my kindle. I felt this book needed a pass or two more from the editor. The mother was an annoying hag, the character flashbacks were confusing as they were all one perspective, while present day was a completely different characters perspective, which made it hard to be relatable. The most interesting thing for me was that a lot of Catalan dialogue. This is not the summer beach read you think it is, though.

Thank you Netgalley, Amazon First Reads, and Lake Union publishing for the Advanced readers copy in exchange for my honest review.

I have a penchant for short chapters and a deep affection for Spain, so I approached this novel with high hopes. Unfortunately, while it had its moments, overall, it failed to capture my interest.

The use of short chapters initially seemed promising, suggesting a fast-paced narrative that would keep me engaged. Additionally, the backdrop of Spain—a country I adore for its rich culture and history—added an intriguing layer to the story.

However, I found myself unable to fully immerse in the plot. The characters lacked depth, and their development fell short of evoking any significant emotional connection. Despite the potential of the Spanish setting to enrich the storyline, it felt underutilized and failed to contribute meaningfully to the overall atmosphere.

On a positive note, the concise chapters did maintain a sense of urgency, making the book easy to pick up and read in short intervals. The writing style was clear and straightforward, which enhanced the book's accessibility.

In conclusion, while this novel had its strengths with its chapter structure and choice of setting, it ultimately missed the mark for me. Readers looking for a quick read or with a specific interest in Spain may find some enjoyment, but those seeking a more immersive or compelling narrative might be left wanting.
