✨Chloe has a dream wedding, dream honeymoon and a dream life . First few chapters of the story shows how controlling Dan is. Changing the plans from the honeymoon without her knowing and making her feel guilty. 🚩 This may trigger some of the readers if you had a narcissist partner . So be warned 🚩

🚩 The writing style was okay. I think she made a good point of the story around the first few chapters but it just dragging the unnecessary stories. Unfortunately , the story was not for me.

The beginning of this book had promise. Seemed like it took too long to get to what was going on, and parts of it just were like it didn't fit with the story line. Sorry not one of my best reads. Though i did finish it only a 3 star from me.

I enjoyed this domestic noir/ mystery. It has more plot twists and turns than a fairground waltzer which kept it at a good pace. However the plot was a bit predictable in places and the feminist in me found myself frustrated with the main character for putting up with it all!!

“The Honeymoon” is an utterly gripping psychological thriller that keeps you guessing. Rona Halsall weaves a tale of paranoia, twists, and suspense. While the plot isn’t as wild and crazy as some thrillers, the writing is solid, and the setting adds to the tension. If you enjoy psychological suspense with unexpected turns, this book is worth a read.

Without giving too much away I found this to be a fast paced, absorbing and compelling read. The story flowed really well, there were lots of plot twists to keep my attention. The further I read with this book, the better it got and I enjoyed it more.

The Honeymoon took a while to get into, but had a great ending. I love a plot where the guy tries to pull one over on the girl and she comes back tenfold at him! As I said, it took a while to get into but in the end definitely delivered and was worth the read. Great vacation or beach read for the summer.. Also reinforcing that you need to be careful who you date/marry and their motives!

I DNF this book because it was giving me a headache. The narrator was difficult to understand and the characters were just strange. So much of this story was backstory that didn’t make sense and the decisions our main character makes are ridiculous. The description sounded interesting but unfortunately it was just nerve wracking.

While I appreciate the story telling, this book was not for me. I was bored through out most of the book, and the story felt very redundant.

My biggest complaint about this book is that it is unbelievable to me and it makes the main character appear to be a stupid woman. She did redeem herself in the end which I did appreciate. There are lots of good twists and turns in this book and I don't think I predicted anything correctly. Book is currently available!

This book was *fine*. I went in with expectations based on the blurb, and got exactly what I expected: in a world full of woman-and-husband-with-secrets books, this is indeed one of them. The protagonist was rather naive, and every time she started to redeem herself, we took two steps back, leaving me struggling to root for her. The story was full of tropes and plot holes, but the twists did pleasantly surprise me a few times.

Overall, I mostly enjoyed this book, but it’s not something I’d pick up again, but I think it would make a fine beach/summer holiday read for fans of sketchy-marriage-based thrillers. I do appreciate Netgalley and Bookouture Audio sending me this audiobook for early review.

The ending was *chefs kiss*!

Chloe is a physical therapist and meets Dan, the son of one of her patients. Sparks fly and they marry 2 months later.
Things take a turn for the worse on the honeymoon. That’s when this book took a turn for the worse for me also 🤣
I found Chloe to be very naive and Dan was a walking red flag. I didn’t find the characters likeable at all.
It was an easy read but extremely SLOW paced.
It did have a measure of suspense until
half way through then it got ridiculous. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it.
I do appreciate receiving a copy of this read from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Honeymoon by Rona Halsall takes readers/listeners on a ride they never would have thought possible! I was certain of *many* things but was so very wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed this, even though I screamed at Chloe a few times.

I found the sleepwalking confession unrealistic and convenient. This, and the narration, is why I deducted a star.

Naomi Frederick speaks too slowly and has very little range. I had her at 1.25% and it was still too slow.

This was an ok thriller! Nothing to write home about unfortunately. The premise intrigued me but I feel like the back and forth caused it to fall flat.

Did Chloe believe Dan or didn’t she? Was he telling the truth? Or wasn’t he? It felt like mental gymnastics. It didn’t appeal to me.

The narrator was good, I did have to listen at 2x the speed as it was definitely a slower paced read.

There were definitely some twists! None that were crazy surprising, but twisty enough.

All in all, it was as ok!

I’ve read quite a number of Rona Halsall’s novels. She is an author that always either sits in my tbr list for too long, or I am convinced I’ve already read them and pass them by. I note that again it seems this title was published some years ago, I don’t know if there’s been a change of publisher or simply that it’s not been available in audio format before, however I’m not complaining, I was pretty excited to be approved to listen to this title as I’ve never been disappointed yet.

The Honeymoon didn’t disappoint. We meet Chloe and Dan as, following a whirlwind romance and wedding, they embark on their Honeymoon to the Maldives, only there’s an issue, that only becomes apparent as the appear at the airport and Chloe notices that the tickets are actually for Menorca, infact their destination is a remote villa amongst farmland. From the minute they arrive Dan’s behaviour is shifty to say the least, and Chloe is wondering how well she really knows this man. Something is definitely amiss, her phone has gone missing, Dan’s insistent that they shouldn’t return to England and as his behaviour becomes increasingly out of control, inevitably Chloe has to escape him.

However when she returns to England to a life completely upended, and unable to get in touch with her husband who seems to be behind all the chaos, she has no choice but to head back to Menorca to face the music and get to the facts. What plays out is intense……

The writing is excellent, and whilst the story shifts back and forth it becomes apparent that there are in fact 3 sides to every story. His, hers and the truth.

This one will have you doing mental gymnastics, and wondering if anything can be believed, and the ending will have you lifting your jaw back up.

The narration by Naomi Frederick was good, if a little slow for me, I struggled a little to find the right pace. There were some definite sound issues, it felt like the volume was lost at stages, however I’m sure this will be corrected in time for publication.

A Lot of these thrillers are based around silly women rushing into a marriage and this is no different. However, I did enjoy this book. I liked how although she was perhaps a bit daft at times, Chloe didn't constantly try and make excuses for terrible people (only sometimes) which made her more believable and relatable than some of these MCs. Anyway, I liked the locked in feeling, I liked the destination and I liked the conflict.

Looking forward to reading more by Halsall.

Red flags at full mast from the very beginning, watch out there's peril about, not every marriage is plain sailing and this one certainly isn't. Constantly switching between gripping and irritating (the characters make you want to scream at them) it's a satisfying read albeit with a slightly drawn out ending.

This was a quick thriller with a lot of holes in the plot. While I enjoyed the ending, it was predictable and the first 80% of the book just took too long to muddle through. I'm glad I received this on audio from NetGalley, since that made it easier to digest quickly, if it had been a physical copy I may have moved this to DNF just given the pace of the actual storyline.

Chloe lives a pretty solitary life working as a physical therapist and taking care of her aging grandmother. When Chloe’s mother passed away, her brother and sister blamed Chloe while her grandmother turned cold and distanced herself from Chloe.

Due to her otherwise isolated life, it’s not surprising that Chloe quickly agrees to go out to dinner with the handsome son of one of her therapy patients. He instantly wants to spend all of his time with her and quickly plans a wedding. Chloe feels so happy knowing someone is focusing only on her yet….there’s a voice in her head telling her he’s moving pretty fast.

Within a few months, they’re married and honeymooning in a different location than they’d originally planned because Dan changed the location without speaking to Chloe. Then Chloe can’t find her phone although she was sure she had it. And Dan is talking about staying at their vacation spot. FOREVER! He doesn’t seem to consider her job or responsibilities. Everywhere they go, Dan seems on edge, frantically looking around. Chloe wonders how well she actually knows Dan. As soon as she begins contemplating packing up and heading home, she realizes her period is late further compounding her situation. Even if she goes home, who would be there waiting for her? Chloe can’t help but think maybe she’s better off with someone who loves her even if she’s seeing a few too many red flags.

This was a solid 3 star read. I didn’t really like or connect with either character in this book and felt there were too many times they agreed to “start over” after a nasty argument. But, I love Rona Halsall’s books and I’m sure fellow fans will want to make sure to check this one out!
