I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The premise itself really grabbed me and I was intrigued to read it. I haven’t read a book with a similar premise before - that someone finds a body and it just… disappears.

The story had some amazing twists and turns. What I loved is that they didn’t come out of nowhere. This book was a masterclass in effective foreshadowing - giving enough clues to make the twists make sense and keep the reader engaged, but not so many as to give away the twists.

The book was very descriptive, which for me is a positive. The setting contributed to the plot and story, which I found important.

There were a range of characters, some of whom I loved, and others who I didn’t find likable but were essential to the story. There were some great relationships, especially the one between Megan, the protagonist, and her niece. I also enjoyed the complexity of the relationships between Megan and her other family members.

Overall, this was a five star read for me, and I will be reading more books by Kerry Wilkinson.

What did Megan really see? She's been under a lot of stress, what with her marriage exploding so it's easy for her sister Nicola and others to suggest that she didn't really see the body of a woman, a body no one can find, This is a nicely paced and twisty one that sees Megan struggle to not only convince others to believe her but also to find the truth. Know that her back story and certain relevant details are parceled out slowly. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC, A good read,

Megan leaves the dramas in her marriage behind and returns to her home town to stay with her sister Nicola, unknowingly walking into another set of drama or ten. While she is unpacking she hears a scream and goes outside to investigate, finding the dead body of a woman in the stream. Returning to the house for her phone and contacting emergency services, once she returns the body has vanished and everyone insinuates she is crazy. This is the first of many strange things in this small seaside town that Megan encounters.

References to past events keep us on our toes as we await to uncover those secrets and see how they play out in the current situation. The twists and turns are crazy, mysterious characters made me race through the pages as I wanted to see how it all came together. This small coastal town harbours decades of secrets and Megan finds it increasingly difficult to keep her sanity and know who to trust.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for my eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me an ARC of this book. I’m not getting the hype with this one. Way too many subplots were crammed into this book and none of them were bulit up enough for me to invest.

Megan is unpacking in the spare room st her sister's house when she hears the scream. Racing to the nearby woods, she is shocked to see a young woman unconscious, her pink top bright against the earth., her long, dark hair wet from a nearby stream. But when desperate Megan returns with the police, all they find is empty woodland. She's been through so much, her sister whispers, welcoming her home with a kind smile. You can't blame her for seeing things. But Megan knows what she saw - and her past shouldn't come into it. Was the young woman dead or dying? How can a body just disappear?

This is a tense read. Megan found out her husband was having an affair with her best friend, so she left and went to stay with her sister while she worked out what she was going to do next. She hears a scream while she's unpacking her clothes, and rushes out to the woods, where she finds a young woman's body. Not sure if she's alive or dead, Megan rushes back to the house to get her phone, and when she gets back to show the police where the body lay, the woman had disappeared.

This is another fabulous read by the very talented author. The pace was fast, there was lots going on, and the plot was complex. The more Megan investigates about the missing woman, the more she doesn't like what she uncovers. This is a gripping read.

This one just didn’t pick up as quickly as I hoped it would. The descriptions/details and just mundane parts of the book were way too long and took over the actual story. This story took a turn I wasn’t expecting but that didn’t happen until about 70% through the story. I really wanted to like this one but it just didn’t do it for me.

If you don’t mind super long descriptions and details and can push through to get to the meat of the story then you’ll probably enjoy this story, it was just wasn’t super interesting or entertaining for me.

The Missing Body by Kerry Wilkinson is another page-turner from an author whose ability to craft a suspenseful thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end keeps me adding any of his new titles to my TBR.

Megan has had some personal issues and is staying with her sister when she discovers the body of a young woman in the woods. Returning with help shortly later though, she is stunned to find that the body has gone missing, with no clues left behind as to the victim's identity. Megan is tenacious in her efforts to find out the truth behind what has transpired, but at what cost?

While I would not rank this title as a particular favourite from the author, it is definitely a solid and engaging read worthy of your time.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

Megan has been going through a difficult time, but she hasn't gone entirely crazy yet. Not that anyone believes her when she tells them that she heard a cry one evening whilst at her sister's house, and found a young woman's prone body in the woods after she went to investigate.

But how can she blame them? When she returns to the spot with reinforcements, they find no one there. The young woman has disappeared! Unfortunately, Megan is the only one who believes that she ever was there...

Kerry Wilkinson specializes in stories about disappeared people. These tales of his are almost always intriguing and this one is no exception, easily scoring 3.5 stars. Go out and get yourself a copy NOW!

I was completely caught off guard by the unexpected ending of this book! Wilkinson has truly outdone himself with the intricate plot and surprising twists that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Megan hears a scream and finds an unconscious woman in the woods, but when she returns with the police, the woman is gone. Despite her past troubles, Megan is determined to find the truth about the mysterious incident.

The way Wilkinson skillfully intertwines the external mysteries with the internal struggles of the characters is truly captivating. Each revelation is carefully crafted to challenge the reader's assumptions and keep them guessing until the very end.

The setting of the story, a seemingly quiet town hiding its own secrets, adds a whole new dimension to the narrative. Wilkinson's portrayal of Megan is so well-rounded and complex, making her a protagonist that you can't help but root for, flaws and all. The tension in the prose perfectly mirrors Megan's escalating fear and determination, drawing you further into the story with every page turn.

Overall, this book is a thrilling rollercoaster ride that will leave you breathless and wanting more. Wilkinson's storytelling is truly masterful, and I can't wait to see what he has in store next!

Thank you so much NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I was excited to get into this as the last book I read by Kerry Wilkinson was easily a 5 star book for me. Bit repetitive despite being short but not bad at all, ending was nice. Don’t know why I wasn’t really able to connext with the characters though.

Another great read from Kerry Wilkinson. As usual a fast paced storyline that hooked me from the start with likeable characters and an ending I was not expecting. What’s not to like. I just love Kerry’s style of writing, bring on the next book!

I read "The Call" by Kerry, and loved it. I was shocked to find out this book surpasses that one in excellence. His writing as always was excellent. Thus, it obtained its original value – an entertaining, fast-paced read with a good plot, realistic characters, and some twists you won't be prepared for. Highly recommended!

Thank you to Bookouture, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

My first book from Kerry Wilkinson but it will not be my last

I am totally on outlier island. I just couldn’t connect with the writing and the characters. I gave up after 50 per cent, then I couldn’t do it anymore. It’s just not my book.

I was looking at my previous reviews on Goodreads and saw that I’ve read one of the authors previous books. It all came back why I did not like the first one. So history is kind of repeating itself here for me.
