This book felt like coming home for me. Deadly trials (for the ones who re-read Hunger Games over and over again) and greek mythology (for the ones who re-read the DK Greek Mythology encyclopedia over and over again) with the addition of a badass FMC, a forbidden romance, and strong friendships between women make this book a must-read.
I had such a fun time reading this book! While I had figured out a couple of the mysteries, the twists and turns were so fun to read, and I couldn't put it down. I am especially excited for the next book in the series, because I can see a few areas (not mentioning specifics to avoid spoilers!) where there will definitely be expansion and more detail as the characters learn more about the world they live in and each other.
I would add this to your TBR if you like:
- Deadly trials
- Forbidden romance
- Badass FMC
- Smooth talker MMC
- Mystery
- Greek Mythology
- Strong friendships between women
- Magic (I'm excited to see how this expands in book 2!)
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Sariah Wilson for sending me an eARC copy!
I'm calling it now - this book will be the next big romantasy book people will rave about!
It has everything one would expect from a brilliant fantasy book: the tension is unmatched, the characters diverse and unique, making you fall in love with them without a second thought. Lia, especially, has my heart and soul - an incredible FMC that would walk through fire for the people she loves, and would fight with everything for what’s write. Her journey of love and loss truly spoke to my heart.
The story itself is perfectly paced, captivating from the very first page. If you find yourself enjoying the found family trope and love a little Greek mythology gems, this one is perfect for you!
P.s. I'm fairly certain I'm still not breathing properly after that ending
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“It’s like we were two flames, drawn to each other, meant to burn brightly together.”
“That also means we can destroy each other”
Oh my god you have no idea how much I love this book! (My family has been begging me to stop talking about it)
This book has everything you could ever want in a Romantasy! Greek mythology, a strong heroine, a fun magic system, female friendships, a lot of intrigue and an amazing book boyfriend!
I am genuinely struggling to put my feelings into words because WOW.
If you are looking for a new Romantasy to take over your life and a book boyfriend to take over your thoughts, look no further!
But be warned! The cliffhanger was INSANE! And I have to wait ONE ENTIRE YEAR????
Thank you to Sariah Wilson and NetGalley for the ARC!
I might come back to this later when I have the words to express my thoughts!
This review is also available on Goodreads and The StoryGraph. I will post about it on my Instagram (@titas_library) within the next few days.
I adored the Greek inspired world- our FMC is a warrior princess from a poor realm, who is betrothed to a rival prince. She wants to save her realm from this curse, so rigs a ceremony, so she is chosen to perform a trial which will give her access, if she wins, to the Goddess’s temple in which she believes is a relic which will save her people 👀
I’m just so obsessed; The writing is superb- it flowed beautifully and I could not put this book down!! The world and characters are wonderfully crafted!
The romance is incredible- the tension is some of the best I’ve read in a while 😍 the dream walking is *chef’s kiss*- just the epitome of an undeniable connection!!
That cliffy is rough- you’ve been warned!!
A Tribute of Fire by Sariah Wilson 4⭐️
Lia, the Princess of Locris, has been training relentlessly to enter a deadly trial so that she may save her land from an ancient curse. All her plans go out the window when her sister is chosen to participate in the trial with her. We follow Lia as she navigates these new challenges and still tries to save her crumbling nation.
🔥 Found Family
🔥 Sassy/Stabby FMC
🔥 Gods and Goddesses
🔥 Hidden Identities
🔥 Enemies to Lovers
Good golly this book was an emotional rollercoaster! I really enjoyed Lia and her internal monologue. The cliff hanger at the end?? Oh my god I need the next book immediately!! I love the found family that Lia and her sisters created. The twists?!? I saw some of them coming but that didn’t make them hit any less. The banter between Lia and Jason is top tier. There’s so much I want to say but in the interest of keeping this spoiler free I’ll leave it at that.
Thank you to Sariah Wilson for an early copy in exchange for my honest review!
I had high hopes for this book, especially with its intriguing premise, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The insta-love trope was a significant drawback; it made the female main character (FMC) feel frustrating and unlikable, which dampened my overall enjoyment.
While the premise surrounding the trial had great potential, it only received a handful of chapters, diminishing its importance and the sense of danger it could have conveyed. I did appreciate the found family aspect and found the priestess/temple storyline intriguing, but I wished there was more exploration of those elements.
The pacing was another issue. The plot dragged at times, with excessive inner dialogue from the FMC that left me feeling bored. It wasn’t until the last 100 pages that things picked up, and I found the twists toward the end to be quite engaging. However, I can’t help but feel that we should have arrived at that exciting point much sooner.
As for the romantic subplot, it fell flat. The FMC swooned over the male main character (MMC) without much interaction between them, which felt unrealistic. Even during serious moments, her thoughts were fixated on how handsome he was, rather than the situation at hand. This constant distraction became annoying rather than charming.
Overall, while there were some redeeming aspects, the execution left me wanting more depth and coherence.
This book was not for me. Firstly, it didn't need to be 500 pages, it was way too long. Secondly what's wrong with the FMC. I was intrigued by the blurb but all I found in this book was a horny FMC who couldn't stop thinking about kissing the guy who was leading her and her sister to death.
People who like Greek mythology might like it more (for that reason) but I will not be continuing with the series.
I received an advance copy of the book and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Thank you so much author, Netgalley and the publishers for this amazing ARC in exchange for an honest review 💜
If you like royalty, magical creatures (yes this includes dragons), hints of Greek mythology, trials, magic, stabby FMCs, and morally gray MMC, in your fantasy romance, this is a MUST READ for you. Think hunger games meets from blood to ash. You hit your feet running in the action of this book, and it never stops. This book had me sitting on the edge of my seat at every page turn. In this story, Euthalia is a princess of a failing nation who intentionally has her name drawn as tribute for the deadly trials in hopes to save her country and siblings. A trial in which she has to survive thousands of men chasing her through a foreign city to the goddess’ temple where she must find the eye of the goddess and return it to her home. Except of course the trials and world turned out to be so much more than Euthalia could have ever imagined.
Thank you Net Galley for my free copy in exchange for a honest review.
“It only takes one person to change the world, one person to save a life”
A Tribute of Fire was a fierce and refreshing read! Packed with female empowerment and determination, it was a pure delight from start to finish. 🔥
This was my first Sariah Wilson book, and I am absolutely in love with her writing style. Sariah’s writing is easy to devour but adds so much to the setting of the story.
The Greek mythology elements woven into the story were amazing and the references were so well done - accessible, intriguing and beautifully integrated.
Now the characters; the story provides swoony heroes and interesting second characters. Lia is crafted as a richly layered heroine that I believe many readers will find relatable. Her flaws and inner reflections reveal her humanity, making her growth and development throughout the story feel authentic and compelling. Though Jason remains a bit of a mystery, his quick wit and hidden depth makes him intriguing, and I can’t wait to dive deeper into his character in book two.
Overall, this book was an absolute delight—truly captivating from start to finish. If you’re into forbidden romance, a strong female lead, and a “touch her and you die” hero, this is the perfect read for you. 💙🔥
Thank you Sariah for sending me an early copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion!
Yessssssssss! So good! Love a good romantasy. I know this author is highly recommended, although I haven’t read anything by her personally, so I was excited to give this a try!
Great world building and also great chemistry between Lia and Jason… and it had a little bit of everything! I liked having actual plot lol great read!
“I like how ordinary things seem special through your eyes.”
Curses, fate, destinies, attraction, pledges, mysteries, adventure, danger, intense passion and more make up this first book in the Eye of the Goddess series and it’s going to be hard to wait for more.
What in the world just happened?! This romantasy lived up to every drop of hype I was expecting (and more) and I’m over here curled up in a ball and reeling from every single thing about this book. I’m in awe of Sariah Wilson’s first venture into this genre.
Not only are there fantastic and passionate kissing scenes, but the chemistry is volatile and tangible. The action is vivid, with threats of war and danger lurking everywhere. A surprising bond of sisterhood also claimed my soul. Euthalia (aka Lia) doesn’t have to pursue her mission alone and has “sisters” who have her back and that means everything. She is pure fire and I loved everything about her strong, powerful, yet soft, character.
I don’t want to give any spoilers, but there is nothing ordinary about this book and I was hooked from the start.
Content: romance (passionate kissing); violence (not extremely graphic)--fighting, death/killing, war.
Honestly, I could not get into this. I tried so hard, you tell me Kylo Ren/Rey inspired, I’m here for it. But the main character annoyed me from the start and then it was like insta-lust to a kiss that felt almost… bad… the whole book was just not my vibe. I can see it being others, though, who don’t mind the trope doing all the work.

A Tribute of Fire
By: Sariah Wilson
I'm so surprised at how much I LOVED this book. Each page, each chapter kept me so engrossed that at night I kept saying "oh, just one more chapter". If I didn't have adult responsibilities and could be glued to my Kindle, I definitely would have, just to keep going.
I have rated my last few reads at 5⭐ and they are truly those ratings, but this book... I seriously cannot wait for book two since this one ended on such a cliffhanger!
Tropes:
🔪 Stabby FMC
❤️ Found family/sisterhood
💥 Enemies to lovers (my favorite trope)
🌚 Elemental Magic
🌜 Retelling Greek mythology
A Tribute of Fire by S. Wilson, published by Montlake is afantasy romance. This is not a stand alone. The book ends in a cliffhanger, be warned.
This is Lia and Xander's story, drama laden and action packed, I raced through the pages, I couldn't read fast enough. The heroine who's between a rock and a hard place and the hero who has secrets and his own aganda.
A fantastic read, 5 stars.
I loved this book. This may be one of my all time favorite reads. Lia is such a relatable main character. She fights so hard for what she thinks is right. There are a couple revelations in the end that I expected and didn’t surprise me. But it still kept me on the edge of my seat. I knew I was getting close to the end but when I tapped on my kindle to turn the page and then saw “author’s note” on the next page, I swore. I was fighting back tears. I was not ready for the story to be over and I don’t know how I’m supposed to make it to July waiting for the next one. I have already purchased the ebook for a friend because I needed someone to talk to about it. Will definitely be recommending this book to everyone.
This is a fantastic romantasy read! The intricate world-building drew me in and made me feel like I was right there. The action scenes were vivid and wonderfully done. The storyline blended with the lore perfectly, delivering information at just the right pace. I loved how the main and supporting characters each had unique personalities that complemented each other seamlessly. The cliffhanger caught me off guard, and now I’m eagerly awaiting the second book! This was the perfect book to finish out the month.
I was so excited to get my hands on a review copy of A Tribute of Fire! Sariah Wilson has long been a favorite author of mine, so to see her branch into romantasy is really exciting. I’m happy to say that I truly loved this story. Lia is a fierce heroine who will stop at nothing to save her nation. She’s joined by a handsome sailor who is mysterious and swoony. I CANNOT wait for the next book in this series!
A Tribute of Fire is the first book in a new Fantasy Romance series and it’s absolutely amazing, it has so many of my favorite tropes and I was hooked since the first page!
Lia is a princess of Locris and arranged to marry the prince of their enemy nation, but she plans to escape her fate and save her country by becoming a tribute, one of two girls chosen every year who can either become a priestess by participating in a deadly run, or die (and no one has ever won). Being aided by the handsome sailor Jason, Lia swears to become the first tribute to survive and save her people, but with the dangerous secrets coming to light, she realizes that staying alive is the least of her worries.
OMG I’ve just finished reading this book and I’m speechless! This book is so freaking amazing I can’t believe it ended, it was over 500 pages and I wish it was even longer. The world building was so interesting, I loved everything about it (don’t want to spoil anything) and the magic system was only vaguely explained but I have a feeling its going to be a big part of the next book and I can’t wait to learn more about it. Lia was the kind of FMC I love in fantasy books, she was badass, not taking anyone’s shit and I loved how much she grew in this book and can’t wait to see her again. She and Jason had a complicated relationship but I loved them together, they were perfect for each other (even when Lia didn’t want to see it) and their banter was everything, I loved all their scenes together and after what happened at the end, I’m so excited to see what happens with them next. The plot was really great paced and while there was a moment in the beginning and in the middle where it was a bit slow, there was so much suspense, action, crazy revelations and plot twists that I was hooked since the beginning and couldn’t put the book down and when I got to the ending I was literally screaming, the author is evil ending it in that moment and I need the next book ASAP!
A Tribute of Fire is an amazing first book in what shapes up to be an incredible Fantasy Romance series, I loved Lia and Jason’s story and definitely recommend it to everyone who enjoys this genre. I can’t wait for book 2!
Firstly, a huge thank you to Sariah for reaching out and sending over a copy of A Tribute of Fire. I really enjoyed the book and that cliffhanger has me wanting book 2 asap. This was a sweeping greek mythology fantasy with romance sprinkled in.
Here are my top 3 things I loved about this book:
-Kunguru, the adorable raven! I have many thoughts and questions about this bird.
-The banter between Lia and Jason was perfect. It lead to some great tension between the two and Lia was so sassy, I related to her so much.
-A fierce heroine who knows what needs to be done for her country and will stop at nothing to accomplish her goals.
Top 3 reasons why you should read this book:
-Greek mythology loose retelling (make sure to read the author's note)
-Found friendship and support. I loved how each of the side characters supported each other and shared in common issues.
-This is a romantasy but was plot first, romance second.
