I highlighted half of this book and kept enthusiastically saying YES. As someone working in arts education at a mid-sized institution, I could not agree more with the things Alex Sarian says here about the pivots arts organizations (specifically North American ones) should be making to stay more relevant in their communities and thus stay afloat. I feel like this book is full of messages that are not being heard at the higher levels of most organizations, but boy, they should be. I'm so glad to hear about the wonderful ways Sarian is transforming Arts Commons in Calgary and I can only hope that word spreads about this book so that more organizations can benefit from this type of re-evaluation - we owe it to ourselves and our communities.

Thank you to NetGalley and ECW press for the advance copy!

The Audacity of Relevance makes for an interesting read. Sarian has wisely selected a number of relevant topics on the relevance of art.

I am not fully qualified to remark on the entire value this title offers, but as an art lover, and someone sporadically engages with some forms of art on a more professional level, I was keen on finding out what this book talks about. I particularly enjoyed learning about Arts Common, and Sarian’s insights on matters that need a fine balance such as finances/profits and inspiration.

The prose was mostly accessible.
For its niche audience, this is certainly a recommend.
