This was a fun comic that revolves around the existing twisted wonderland mthology. You can read it without being familiar with those stories, but it does help to be familiar with that.
Actual rating: 3.5-4.0 stars.
This "Disney Twisted Wonderland" Anthology is perfect for all Twisted Wonderland fans. Whether coming from the mobile game, the comics, or the novel adaptation, there's something for everyone in this collection. Even if the reader is more familiar with some characters than others, the stories are easy to follow and incorporate many manga tropes and character archetype jokes, so they are accessible with very minimal background knowledge. As long as the reader is familiar with the premise of the world, they will be entertained. (Also, Riddle fans rejoice--there's tons of Riddle cameos, as well!)
Follow the antics of your favorite Twisted Wonderland characters in this collection of short stories. From study strategies to unbirthday parties to science experiments gone utterly wrong (or just very, very right), there is never a dull moment at Night Raven College! Even Crowley the headmage makes a brief appearance. Even better, there's no "player character" to narrate as in other adaptations, so the reader can focus solely on the canon characters from the original game. While Yana Toboso still contributes to this anthology, it also features work by a variety of artists, so readers might find a new favorite there, as well. Overall, this was very solid entertainment and a fun addition to the franchise.
Readers who enjoy this anthology may also like Yana Toboso's other work: Black Butler and Rust Blaster. Other Twisted Wonderland adaptations include: Disney Twisted-Wonderland: The Manga: Book of Heartslabyul, Disney Twisted-Wonderland: Rose-Red Tyrant, and other arcs not translated into English (yet). A fun introduction to the world of the game, fast easy stories that you don't have to be familiar with the other volumes or games to enjoy.
As an avid fan of the Twisted Wonderland game and characters, I was really excited to read this collection of short stories about the lives of the various characters. While each chapter followed a different mangaka's interpretation of everyone, they were all pleasant overall and I admired each artstyle as well. I was surprised that I recognized some artists and mangaka by their art style (NAOE, Esora Amaichi, Higasa Akai, and Daisuke Hagiwara to name a few), and I can't wait to read the next volume!
He he he !! This was a delight !! I love so many of these short stories as the bring my favourites to life!! All the different art styles are simply fantastic !!! Just a joy to see my fav game getting more and more attention!!
Disney Twisted Wonderland's graphic novel is finally out and I love it!! I played the game and it's great to see a graphic novel addition to it.
"Disney's Twisted-Wonderland: The Manga - Anthology, Vol. 1" is a delightful dive into the whimsical and darkly enchanting world of the popular mobile game. This anthology of short stories offers fans a fresh perspective, each tale penned by a different manga creator, ensuring a variety of art styles and narrative voices that keep the reader engaged from start to finish.
The manga excels in capturing the essence of the game's characters, each one brought to life with distinct personality and charm. Whether you’re a long-time player of Twisted-Wonderland or a newcomer, the anthology's stories are accessible and enjoyable, offering snippets of adventures that are both small in scope but mighty in impact.
One of the strengths of this anthology is its ability to balance humor, drama, and action. The different manga creators infuse their unique flair into each story, making every tale feel fresh while staying true to the overall theme and atmosphere of Twisted Wonderland. This variety not only keeps the anthology from feeling repetitive but also showcases the diverse talent within the manga community.
I loved all the different takes on the characters from the various artists. It's fun to see familiar characters portrayed in different manners.

With a cover by the series creator Yana Toboso, this collection is jam-packed with a lot of wonderful stuff.
First off, there are nine full-color pin-up images. Some are very faithful to Toboso's style while others present interesting takes on the characters from the series so far.
Next up are sixteen (16) stories by as many manga creators. Running from eight to eighteen pages in length, the reader is given a wide sampling of vignettes set in the world of this series. While some of the characters we've seen a lot of before, others are ones we get to see a bit more spotlight on. And the artwork on these is very much in the same style as that of Toboso's previous volumes. As someone who very much enjoys the Twisted-Wonderland manga volumes so far, this was a fun outing.
