Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an opportunity to read this book!

About Last Night was a funny, sexy, emotional read. I had a lot of fun in both Audrey and Toni's heads! As a couple, they complemented each other really well and I found myself getting annoyed that they couldn't see that themselves. I was relieved when they finally got together.

This book is a breeze to read - it's not super long, and the pace moves VERY quickly. I have seen some other reviews say that's to the story's detriment but I wholeheartedly disagree! I loved that it moved so fast. We weren't bogged down in details we didn't need or reading every single moment of the characters' lives. We just got what was needed to tell the story between these two characters, and it was very effective.

The supporting cast for this story is also excellent. Willa and Greta make a great team at getting their respective sisters to sort their stuff out. I found myself intrigued by Max - I would have loved more depth on Max and Toni's friendship, if anything. Toni's parents are beyond charming and Shae makes for a villain you love to hate.

I noticed when flicking through the final pages that the author mentioned Willa and Greta's story will be told next. I can't wait! I will be eagerly looking out for it, because I loved this book.

My expectation of this book where high, the cover looks brilliant which is always a important fact for me and the blurb sounded so good, the story started out very strong but couldnt hold up this expectations trough the book. Its described as "an utterly hilarious, feel-good, forced proximity, lesbian romantic comedy" i missed a bit the comedy aspect in this story, it was all over the place and over the top, but not really comedy.

Audrey and Toni were not looking for a relationship, Audrey just left by her Ex didnt look for a rebound but a bit of fun she was all up to, enter Toni who she saw from afar a few times already, they hit it up and have a one-night stand. Only to realize a few days later that they're going to be working together. They desided to remain professional and pretend the one-night stand never happened,
Than it started to get strange, they all hang out for christmas at Toni's parent's house together with their sisters, their is no real reason, while trying to stay professional to stay at each others places?! Altrough they wanted both to keep it casual Toni freaks Audrey out by convessing her love and wanting to be togehter forever - totally strange for a story that claims to be against insta-love, After Audrey running both sisters (her own and Tonis) threath her like shit - i mean for real!? This is more than unrealistic when both desided to keep it casual first, than stop it instantly when they know they work togehter - how is Audrey a bad person she is made in this book - when she is honest as she was the whole time about her intentions. I guess this injustice rubbed me the wrong way, from that moment on the book was lost for me and i couldnt enjoy it anymore.
After this Toni behaved like a child by posting stuff with different woman on her socials, to make Audrey jealous, than Toni wants to hook up again - it just got stranger by every page -at least for me.

Therefore 3 stars because the writing style of this author is good, the edit was good (which is often not the case in lgbtqi fiction) it was therefore easy to read, just the storyline itself was so not what i hoped and expected.

Thank you to Bookouture and Netgally for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Marketed as a romcom but missing the 'com' part - unfortunately a disappointment for me! Characters had little to no personality, no believable chemistry, and hard to see why this qualifies as a grand gesture-worthy love story rather than just two people finding each other somewhat attractive. Dialogue felt forced and awkward which made it hard to read. It was a shame that even though the story is set in Denver there were few local details - it could have taken place in any town, & as someone who used to live there I was hoping to feel more immersed in the setting.

I managed to finish the book hoping it would improve - such a shame as it had potential, but the characters and writing style did not keep me invested at all.

Thoroughly enjoyed this novel! 4 and a half stars! Audrey splits from her ex who is ridiculously high maintenance and ends up on a night out meeting Toni, who has noticed Audrey in the past. Only it becomes awkward when Audrey then meets Toni at her new workplace. Great characterisation and a really excellent feel good novel. Thanks to Net Galley for the advanced copy

I didn't enjoy this one as much as I'd hoped. It was a quick read, and the sex scenes were fun, but I had trouble rooting for Aubrey and Toni. From the premise I was expecting there to be more of a balance between internal and external stakes, but as much as the characters made a big deal about the fact that they were working together it really didn't seem like much of an issue. They were always on two completely different pages about what they wanted out of the relationship, and by the end of the book I'd lost patience for that, in part because I wasn't sure what had changed on Aubrey's end other than her feeling bad about how she'd treated Toni. (Which, omg, so much second hand embarrassment.) This one just unfortunately wasn't for me.

Title: About Last Night

Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(4/5). Loved this book so much - way more than I expected to!

Plot: 📚📚📚📚 (4/5)
I actually loved the plot. Audrey has just broken up with her cheating, toxic, and controlling girlfriend of four years when she ends up going home with Toni, someone she doesn’t really know but sees at the same club she occasionally visits. It’s a dual POV, which really delivers, allowing us to see the story from both Audrey and Toni’s perspectives.

What was supposed to be a one-night thing due to Audrey’s messy situation turns into something more as sparks fly and their paths cross in unexpected ways. Toni gets the chance to convince Audrey to reconsider. It’s a really nice and easy read, perfect for finishing in one sitting! The story is cute and heartwarming, though the ending felt a bit rushed. Still, it’s satisfying and doesn’t disappoint.

One note: the whole story revolves around Christmas time. I wish I’d read this in December rather than July to better fit the festive scenario. It could definitely be marketed as a holiday read.

Characters: 🤎🤎🤎🤎 (4/5)
The characters are probably one of the things I look up the most when it comes to books, and oh my god they were so good!! Well-developed and multifaceted. I loved Audrey’s relationship with her identical twin, Willa. And Willa’s character is probably my second favourite, and how her storyline develops. I’m not gonna spoil anything but I LOOOOOVED how everything has unfolded for her. I also loved Greta’s character development (Greta is Toni’s sister), however, my absolute favorite character was the one and only Toni Danzig. How I loved the scene where Greta sings Tiny Dancer to her with the whole lyrics revisited.
Toni reminded me of Delilah Green from the Bright Falls series in the best possible way, with a rough playboy exterior (red wine supernova, is that you?) masking a soft heart of gold who just wants true love. A real golden retriever.
As mentioned the character development is solid, especially for Greta and Willa, but every single character is really good (even Shae although you can do nothing but hate her, she’s been portrayed in all her toxicity oh so well.)

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 🌶️ (3.5/5)
This book definitely brings the heat! It’s not a slow burn, which I appreciate since slow-burn romances can sometimes be frustrating. The author understood the assignment—by page 20, the spice kicks in with detailed scenes. The queer representation is wonderful. Heterosexual smutty scenes can become monotonous, but this book offers a fresh take, showcasing different facets of sex, including the awkward parts that are often avoided. It felt real and provided good representation, despite some cringy writing choices. When smutty scenes make you blush on the train, you know they’re well done!

The review is also available on Goodreads (I have included the link) and I have created a video on TikTok too ( recommending the book. I've also created a music playlist on Spotify for readers to listen to whilst reading!) that I will publish at 4pm. :)

I just flat out didn't like this. It didn't have a great plot and the characters where super flat. Not for me

This book is cute but I was expecting more. First of all it’s too short. But not too short in meaning “I wanted more of it”, too short because it felt a bit rushed. I wanted more depth either. This novel shows a toxic relationship (Audrey’s previous relationship) and some serious theme and I wanted them more deepen.
However the relationship between Audrey and Toni is cute (too ista love for me, but cute) and the banter are really funny.
So, it was a enjoyable reading.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

I absolutely loved this book!
It had everything I’m looking for in a sapphic rom com. It was hot, for one, but also had lesbians with healthy boundaries and healthy communication! I loved that this novel also had a storyline about someone discovering their sexuality in adulthood and exploring that in a healthy way, without that being one of our main characters.
Overall, this was an entertaining and fun read!

Thank you author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC of this book!!

Ok this was definitely fun at first but it’s pretty short so it felt a little rushed. There were also point where they skipped weeks at a time which felt weird to me.

I loved the tension and was definitely invest all the way through. Good read, but not a re-read.

The pacing of this book felt off to me, and the tone is more serious than I like for a rom com. The book didn’t engage my interest. DNF

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC.

This story begins with a break-up. And then immediately dives into a rebound one-night stand and the book is a very quick read from there. I don't know if it was a pacing issue or just the shortness of the book, but everything felt like it happened very fast and I just didn't buy the romance/insta-love between our two main characters. I would have liked to have seen more depth to their relationship, and while it's touched upon in the story, one of the MC's diving head first into a new relationship after breaking up with her toxic girlfriend, felt kind of off.

The sparseness of this book meant it lacked depth all round. I would have loved more scenes with the MCs's and their sisters. To be honest, I found myself more invested in whatever the heck was going between the MCs's sisters than the main romance of the book.

4.25 ⭐️ I would just like to start out by saying thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for sending me a ARC of this book. I couldn't put this book down, I finished it in a day. I liked that it was dual POV. The two main characters Toni and Audrey had good chemistry even though they were complete opposites, they balanced each other out really well. I loved the story, it was believable and it made me laugh, the side characters were great and there was some good spicy scenes. The only thing that annoyed me a little was Audrey being so indecisive, I get why but I just wanted to slap her at one point. Overall I really enjoyed reading this book and I can't wait for the next one.

First of all, thanks Net galley and the author for the book arc. I enjoyed it a lot.

I don't know how I actually feel about this book. I liked it, but it's in debt with me. I'm like, waiting for the second movie :(

The ending was one of the sweetest things, but it was so fucking fast. One chapter to the big gesture?? They fight the majority of the last 10 chapters and that just made me so sad and angry. I was ready for them to be all love and butterflies, but everything was wrong. I was having a bad moment hah... But because it was going so good, and I was expecting so much, but it was short. I needed more. I liked the book, but I was expecting more resolution...

I mean, there was so much in there, a lot of sub plots that were ready to be developed: the ex, the therapy, Toni's problems with not feeling enough, Greta and Willa, the contract and what happens next, Toni's parents... But most of that things we're just undeveloped, leave it there. And yes, I understand that is a romance book, but still, I would read 200 more pages to satisfy my curiosity (sorry people I'm picky even with my romances, my mom would say that I overthink too much). I feel like, the construction of plot and characters was good, but the final development leave much to be desired. I mean, they weren't plain, but they seemed that way cause it was all romance, nothing of personal development.

I like both of the main characters a lot, I also liked the secondary characters, both sisters, I even want to read their story, what happens next?? They keep friends or something else?

Even when I don't like insta love tropes, I was invested, I mean, I was curious and expecting more, they were cute. The spice was interesting too, like, emotionally intense, not very long or descriptive but I could feel the connection in them. Also I have to say that a lot of stuff trigger a little cringe, like the mention of tomboy shorts a lot of times on the first four chapters, one wasn't enoug?? or some of the awkwardness between the mc's, I felt awkward myself and I wanted to hide.

Even when this book wasn't the perfect one, I enjoyed it a lot, a good weekend reading a cute romcom. If you want a light cute book, this one is a very good recommendation.

I found this book uneven. It starts big and bold with Audrey moving out on her cheating partner in a funny and epic way. She doubles down on that by having a hook up with Toni on the night of the break up. What they aren’t expecting is that on Monday Audrey and her sister are the hired consultants for Toni’s family business. They agree to try and keep things professional between them. And both their sisters are aware of the situation and keeping an eye on the pair.

I don’t want to give too many specifics and spoil the story. I did like how Audrey is able to help Toni at work. And I really enjoyed their flirting and even the unexpected flirting of their sisters. I wish that had gone somewhere in the story. But I was disappointed the story fell back to lack of communication and insta love. ANd for something being promoted as humorous I didn’t laugh much beyond a few lines. This is a cute and mindless story but I’d hoped for more growth for the characters during the book. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.

Special thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I should have know by the way this book was recommended with tropes that is wouldn’t be for me.

I didn’t feel like the characters or the plot were particularly fleshed out. Also one scene (that we were most likely supposed to find cute) just annoyed me.

About Last Night is the perfect amount of steam/spice & a quick, easy read. Sometimes romcoms can be cheesy and unbelievable, but Laura Henry nailed this element in her debut novel. I’m hoping for a sequel!

Aw I loved this book. I enjoyed the story and the drama but it was also romantic and believable. I’d really have loved more of Greta and Willa …… what is really going on there?!? A quick read but fun

I absolutely loved this book. It’s not often I read a romcom that isn’t cheesy. But I found this to be funny, entertaining and realistic. The main couple has its flaws and it’s ups and downs but for the most part, it was handled in a very healthy way.

The lgbtq+ representation was also really great. The forced proximity isn’t a trope I read often but I think it worked really well with this story. I do wish there was more to the book, the author definitely left me wanting more. It was a quick, fun and relaxing read.

In for a penny…
This debut novel by Laura Henry is a delight. I had so much fun reading the story of Audrey and Toni. It’s a story about opposites attracts and falling in love again after ending a toxic relationship.
The story is really entertaining, funny and spicy 🥵

I did miss some character development. Sometimes they jumped from one place to another. I would loved it if there were more attention for the healing of Audrey.

The side characters were excellent. The honesty, the unconditional love. I was there for it.

I would love to read more about Willa and Greta. Maybe in the future.
