Who doesn’t like a good thriller?? I sure do! If you do too, read this book. I stayed up way too late finishing it up.

Oh, the tangled webs we weave when first we practice to deceive. Wow, The Lucky Widow by Samantha Vérant is a very good book.

When Emma returns from a work trip to find her husband dead in the pond, it’s best not to call him a liar and a cheat in front of the cops.

Now she’s suspect number one for Nathaniel’s murder, and the police are snooping around her perfect home. The cops want to talk to their daughters, their friends, and even their staff. There’s the housekeeper, the cook, the pool cleaner, the dog walker. But, like Emma, they were all out of town when he died. They won’t have anything to say about what happened. Certainly nothing that will suggest Emma had something to do with his death.

The story is disturbing and delves into the lives of those who think they are above the law. Most of the characters are deplorable, and the way they treat others is hard to read at times. I did like Emma and Abby. I thought I had some things figured out, but was surprised that I missed the mark on other revelations. Lots of good red herrings, trap doors, and surprise characters and motives.

The story is told from alternating timelines and from multiple perspectives, all eventually joining together for a mind-blowing conclusion.

I liked this book a lot and would recommend this book and this author.

I adore the author's romances and this time she's conquered the domestic thriller genre too. Wow! I was up through the wee smalls reading to find out if Emma actually killed her handsome surgeon husband, Nate, found dead in the pond on their stunning estate. Although she was out of town the night he was killed, as were their daughters, housekeeper, cook, and dog walker (!), Emma is considered the main suspect because for years, she has publicly wished she could kill him. Did she? Don't miss this gripping tale, sure to keep you up all night too. Brava, Samantha!

Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of The Lucky Widow by Samantha Verant due to be published July 5, 2024.
Nate and Emma seem to have an idyllic life – rich beyond their means, a huge house, a garage full of cars, and friends galore. When Emma returns home from a trip overseas and finds Nate dead in their pond, she is the main suspect since she’s spent the last several years fantasizing about killing him. Even though Emma is secretly thrilled, will she continue to be the main suspect?
Oh, my, the twists, turns and secrets in this one are thrilling and remind me why I love this genre. Highly recommend this one! It will keep you on the edge of your seat!
