Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’m so upset. SEETHING.
BECAUSE I NEED THE NEXT BOOK. That was one brutal cliffhanger that I did NOT see coming !!!

Plot: I was hooked in the start, it did hit a bit of a lull in the middle, but once I got to about 55% it picked up for me and literally could not stop reading. I canceled all plans and ignored all responsibilities. The concept of elemental Fae in Atlantis - SO cool and unique. The development of the MFC coming into her new role - very cool process throughout the book. Lots of scheming and plotting and mystery.

World building: NO INFO DUMP. THANK YOU. It was so well done ! And again, so unique.

MFC- I enjoyed Ash. She was truly a strong female character. Made some dumb decisions here and there that I couldn’t quite forgive lol

MMC- I had a pull to him, he had me swooning. It wasn’t until the end that I went full *sell my left kidney* to have a man as sweet as him UGH. His piece at the end with the MFC nearly tore me apart.

Side characters: The antagonist is so easily hateable. I want nothing but horrible things for her. The rest were so SO lovely !! And added so much to the story.

Spice/Romance: It was a steamy one for sure. Weird language used at times 😅 but not over-used where I had to put the book down lol. The romance is a bit insta-love but the book still had a slow burn feel. The things that come out in terms of the love confession - rip my heart out and step on it why don’t you ????

Honestly if you liked the second book from ACOTAR - read this book. That’s all I have to say.

Book: The Veiled Heir
Author: ST Fernandez
Rating: 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

"You are a dream I never want to wake up from," he whispered against my skin.

Let's start with: if ST Fernandez writes it ... I'm going to read it.

I absolutely loved this spicy romantasy Atlantis wild ride of a book so so so much.

I am most definitely now a "drae bae" and will never go back.

My favourite part of this whole book was the found family aspect for the people Asherah ends up with around her. I love every single one of those characters.

I also really enjoyed Asherah and how strong and brave she handled her whole situation with what happens at the beginning.

You get:
• Romantasy
• Fated Mates
• Spicy
• Dual POV
• Secret Identity
• Atlantis
• Found Family

Pick up this book on July 23rd and prepare to be thrown into a spicy underwater, war brewing, goddess filled, magic and saucy (spicy romance book lovers) characters masterpiece.

"You are my path. You have my heart. You have my soul. And love is such an inadequate word for how I feel about you, but you have it, too, nonetheless."

I Enjoyed the story and the romance. The world building was really different and interesting. And, wow the cliff hanger. Looking forward to book two.

I had high hopes for this as I love mermaids but I unfortunately I was more bored than anything. Its written as if its intended for a middle grader but then there are terms like 'cock pocket' so that has me thinking its aimed at a more mature audience but I just felt like I was reading a teen drama.

This was so much fun! A very unique fantasy, with a world and lore that I’ve never read before. The introduction of water fae (and other elemental fae) was so unique! The world building and political intrigue was really great. The romance between the two main characters seemed (a tad) rushed but overall was entertaining. Would definitely recommend if you love fantasy that’s relatively easy to follow with good characters!

Oh gosh where do I begin? This is like an avatar meets fae meets romance book! I absolutely loved this book. I’m still gathering my thoughts and wrapping my head around it because omg!

It was lovely. It made me laugh, it made my heart hurt, it gave me the feels I needed while I even kicked my feet too. I loved Ash and wanted to support her and Drae so much. I can’t wait to see where this book/ series heads. I’ll definitely be supporting and keeping an eye on this author! For sure recommending as well!

I’ll be posting a review on my Instagram with the upcoming days as well as good reads. Once I finish that I’ll be updating this post here with links to them. Along with updating this because wow just wow.

Did it have moments where I could tell what would happen? Sure. BUT it didn’t make it any less of a fun and great read. I still enjoyed myself and found myself wanting more and wanting to see what happened next. It was easy to read while still being engaging and just mwah. I loved it. I hope there are some character art designs or something in a preorder package or future benefit because I would love to see some visuals for these characters *especially* drae.

Also the cliffhanger? Omg I was shocked. My heart sank, I screamed, I couldn’t believe it. I need the next book asap please and thank you! Haha. I seriously can’t wait to see where this goes… I’ll definitely be looking forward to it.

I’m newer in terms of Fae fantasy books and haven’t read many water fae specifically, so this was still very refreshing to me and explained it well from a basic level but not so basic that someone who is familiar with this genre would get bored. It had enough romance for me to enjoy it still and lean into the idea of adventure which I hope and believe the next books will have with the fantasy adventure aspects!

The cover is also GORGEOUS. Bravo all around!.

I love romantasy and I love fae and atlantis. So I actually enjoyed reading this book. I loved the charcters, the setting and the plot!

I loved every part of this book. It's packed with beauty, emotion, humor, action, and more. Following Ash's journey was a delight, especially with its unique twist on fae stories. The characters are beautifully written and relatable. This is the perfect beach read!

"The Veiled Heir" introduces Asherah Delmar, whose life turns upside down when her mother is murdered, revealing Asherah as the heir to Atlantis. Fleeing from assassins, she discovers a hidden world of Water Fae and must embrace her new powers while navigating political intrigue and a passionate romance with Draevyn Eliron, Commander of the Guardians. With rebels and council members opposing her, Asherah must fight for the future of humanity.

From beginning to end, this book captivated me. It's filled with emotion, humor, and excitement, making it a truly engaging read. I especially enjoyed the rich world-building and the intricate political plot. While the romance adds spice, the story itself is compelling and promises more to come in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book. "The Veiled Heir" by S. T. Fernandez shows promise with its intriguing premise but ultimately falls short in several key areas. The novel begins with a rushed start that left me grappling to keep up, lacking the gradual immersion necessary for a fantasy setting. The absence of adequate world-building further hindered my ability to fully engage with the story, as crucial details about the setting and its dynamics were glossed over or dumped in awkwardly.

One of the book's notable challenges is the overwhelming amount of character dialogue, which often felt excessive and contributed to a choppy, disjointed reading experience. This issue, coupled with a storyline that didn’t feel particularly original and leaned heavily towards a young adult demographic, resulted in a narrative that felt underdeveloped.

While attempts were made to introduce the reader to a new world, the execution felt more like sporadic info-dumping rather than cohesive world-building. This approach failed to provide a solid foundation for the story's events and left many elements feeling disconnected and arbitrary.

Moreover, the main character's quick acceptance of life-altering revelations and her inexplicable knowledge about a supposedly unfamiliar world were difficult to reconcile. This lack of natural progression in character development and world discovery detracted from the overall believability of the narrative.

In summary, "The Veiled Heir" may appeal to readers seeking a less demanding fantasy read, perhaps those new to the genre or looking for lighter fare. However, for those who appreciate a richly developed and immersive fantasy world with well-rounded characters, this novel may not satisfy expectations. It’s clear that while there are elements of potential within Fernandez's storytelling, the execution falls short of delivering a truly engaging and cohesive narrative.

Whoa. That was a 'wet' book. HE HE.

I really enjoyed the growth the MC had in this book. Forced circumstances but they learned and overcame many difficult situations.

The author did an amazing job of getting me to LOATHE one specific character..... I am still angry about this person. PERIOD.

I am looking forward to the next book.... talk about a freaking cliffhanger.

This was an enjoyable read, but I feel like I am also a sucker for anything fantasy. The writing just missed it's mark, while it had adult content, it seemed "childish" with it's plot and simple writing. I can't quite put my finger on it, even the parts that should have been intense (such as the fighting) it just fell flat. Yet I still am looking forward to reading the second book in the series. So it wasn't a complete fail!

Really more like a 3.5/5 for me. I really enjoyed the overall story and it felt like a unique take on fae and Atlantis which was a nice change of pace. I felt like the bond between the main characters was a bit rushed and was very obvious as soon as the male love interest first appeared on page. I also struggled a bit with the combination of modern lingo mixed with older lingo. Lots of cute nods to romance readers - I’m talking to you Fae Flings! Also there were a lot of side characters I really enjoyed and would love to get more of like Lux. I think this author will grow and have an even better sequel which I look forward to reading!

The Veiled Heir was such a fun and captivating read. It was everything that you want in a fantasy book - political upheaval, mystical forces, secrets, strong characters, tension. When you're a kid, you hear the stories of Atlantis and you watch mermaid shows & it's all fun & exciting. This book was the adult version of that and I really enjoyed reading it. The world building throughout the story was done really well. The author gave a great description of a universe that's both ancient and current/fresh. The ending was the perfect cliffhanger to set up a second book. I can't wait to read what happens next!

I love the plot of this book. I have not seen many books which have chosen to tell a story like this and I love it - it's great and the characters suck you into the story right away. Fantastic summer read!

I didn't fall into the story straight from the first page but chapter after chapter I couldn't stop reading... enjoying greatly the story as it flew at a quite fast pace. I felt the writing was "hesitant" at the beginning but more and more fluid until a great ending! What a cliffhanger! Now I just can't wait for the second book to be published to discover what will happen now!

Synopsis: A girl living in Florida with an affinity to the water finds out after her mother’s death that she is actually the heir to the lost underwater kingdom of Atlantis.
Pros/cons: This started out SO good and fizzled so fast. By 40% I was totally bored and had to skim to finish. I think it lost me for good when the “scaled water faes” described they do it through their “cock pocket.” Yep, I’ll see myself out on that note.
🤣🙈
Thank you NetGalley for the arc! Better luck next time!

Thank you to S.T. Fernandez and NetGalley for the eARC of this book!

This book was such a fun and exciting summer read for me! It has everything:

🧝‍♀️ Elemental Fae
🔱 Atlantis retelling
🦈 Guardian sharks
👑 Royal secrets
❤️‍🔥 Fated mates
🫂 Found family
🌶️ Spiceeee

I really enjoyed Asherah’s story and watching her grow through her grief and challenges she faces as heir to the Atlantis throne. Draevyn is a fantastic co-lead to Ash and so down bad for her lol. We love a male who knows what he wants 🥵

This book had me experiencing all five senses as I read (which is the best thing an author can do for me!) — I felt like I was actually there at points. The visuals and world-building were so fun and thorough throughout!

Lastly, can we talk about the plot twists and multiple revelations throughout the book?! Definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. The Veiled Heir ends on a cliffhanger but I feel okay with it and will definitely be reading the next book!

Do yourself a favor and read this book by the pool/beach with a fruity drink in hand — immaculate vibes that you’ll thank me for later. 🏝️🍹

Unfortunately I did DNF this book at 55%.

I think that the plot is absolutely amazing and the premise of the story had so much potential. I see other reviews saying that the ending is absolutely amazing, but unfortunately I couldn’t keep reading to get to that point.

The book started off so strong , if a little bit fast paced, with one thing happening right after another. It gave mystery and intrigue, followed closely by trauma to our FMC that throws her into a quite literal fish out of water situation. Unfortunately, that’s where everything stalls. From 15% - 54% not much happens. It read like a lot of filler information and world building being provided by way of “classes” and study sessions as our FMC learns about her new world. It was a nosedive from fast paced to slow paced and it felt off.

Even the romance situation between our FMC and our MMC wasn’t enough to save it for me. The romance was a bit of a slow burn and that along with the slower pace, it was a bit of a disappointment.

I hope that this books finds it’s audience, but I don’t feel like that’s me.
