This was an enjoyable read, but I feel like I am also a sucker for anything fantasy. The writing just missed it's mark, while it had adult content, it seemed "childish" with it's plot and simple writing. I can't quite put my finger on it, even the parts that should have been intense (such as the fighting) it just fell flat. Yet I still am looking forward to reading the second book in the series. So it wasn't a complete fail!

Really more like a 3.5/5 for me. I really enjoyed the overall story and it felt like a unique take on fae and Atlantis which was a nice change of pace. I felt like the bond between the main characters was a bit rushed and was very obvious as soon as the male love interest first appeared on page. I also struggled a bit with the combination of modern lingo mixed with older lingo. Lots of cute nods to romance readers - I’m talking to you Fae Flings! Also there were a lot of side characters I really enjoyed and would love to get more of like Lux. I think this author will grow and have an even better sequel which I look forward to reading!

Thank you NetGalley, Azalea Press, and S.T. Fernandez for the free ARC.

The Veiled Heir was such a fun and captivating read. It was everything that you want in a fantasy book - political upheaval, mystical forces, secrets, strong characters, tension. When you're a kid, you hear the stories of Atlantis and you watch mermaid shows & it's all fun & exciting. This book was the adult version of that and I really enjoyed reading it. The world building throughout the story was done really well. The author gave a great description of a universe that's both ancient and current/fresh. The ending was the perfect cliffhanger to set up a second book. I can't wait to read what happens next!

I love the plot of this book. I have not seen many books which have chosen to tell a story like this and I love it - it's great and the characters suck you into the story right away. Fantastic summer read!

I didn't fall into the story straight from the first page but chapter after chapter I couldn't stop reading... enjoying greatly the story as it flew at a quite fast pace. I felt the writing was "hesitant" at the beginning but more and more fluid until a great ending! What a cliffhanger! Now I just can't wait for the second book to be published to discover what will happen now!

Synopsis: A girl living in Florida with an affinity to the water finds out after her mother’s death that she is actually the heir to the lost underwater kingdom of Atlantis.
Pros/cons: This started out SO good and fizzled so fast. By 40% I was totally bored and had to skim to finish. I think it lost me for good when the “scaled water faes” described they do it through their “cock pocket.” Yep, I’ll see myself out on that note.
🤣🙈
Thank you NetGalley for the arc! Better luck next time!

Thank you to S.T. Fernandez and NetGalley for the eARC of this book!
This book was such a fun and exciting summer read for me! It has everything:
🧝♀️ Elemental Fae
🔱 Atlantis retelling
🦈 Guardian sharks
👑 Royal secrets
❤️🔥 Fated mates
🫂 Found family
🌶️ Spiceeee
I really enjoyed Asherah’s story and watching her grow through her grief and challenges she faces as heir to the Atlantis throne. Draevyn is a fantastic co-lead to Ash and so down bad for her lol. We love a male who knows what he wants 🥵
This book had me experiencing all five senses as I read (which is the best thing an author can do for me!) — I felt like I was actually there at points. The visuals and world-building were so fun and thorough throughout!
Lastly, can we talk about the plot twists and multiple revelations throughout the book?! Definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. The Veiled Heir ends on a cliffhanger but I feel okay with it and will definitely be reading the next book!
Do yourself a favor and read this book by the pool/beach with a fruity drink in hand — immaculate vibes that you’ll thank me for later. 🏝️🍹

Unfortunately I did DNF this book at 55%.
I think that the plot is absolutely amazing and the premise of the story had so much potential. I see other reviews saying that the ending is absolutely amazing, but unfortunately I couldn’t keep reading to get to that point.
The book started off so strong , if a little bit fast paced, with one thing happening right after another. It gave mystery and intrigue, followed closely by trauma to our FMC that throws her into a quite literal fish out of water situation. Unfortunately, that’s where everything stalls. From 15% - 54% not much happens. It read like a lot of filler information and world building being provided by way of “classes” and study sessions as our FMC learns about her new world. It was a nosedive from fast paced to slow paced and it felt off.
Even the romance situation between our FMC and our MMC wasn’t enough to save it for me. The romance was a bit of a slow burn and that along with the slower pace, it was a bit of a disappointment.
I hope that this books finds it’s audience, but I don’t feel like that’s me.

This book was a delightful surprise! Having never explored literature about Atlantis, it provided a wonderful introduction to the genre. It's highly recommended for fans of the following themes:
- Fated Mates
- Spice
- Battling Realms
Special thanks to S.T. Fernandez, and NetGalley for providing an advanced reader copy (ARC).

The veiled heir
This story has some wonderful elements for a romance, fantasy, and adventure novel. I loved the romance between our FMC and MMC. They just blended into that love so beautifully. The author did a really nice job of setting the stones of their relationship.
The 🌶️spice🌶️ once it starts continues pretty steadily throughout the rest of the book for those who love spice! I enjoyed the detailed descriptions of the world, the layers of history that Asherah learned, and the dedication to detail for the world building. We got to see lots of landscapes and ways these people lived/thrived.
Draevyn is dreamy, protective, and loyal to his kingdom/queen. Loved the fierceness of his character!
If you’re looking for:

Thank you NetGalley and S.T. Fernandez for early access in exchange for my honest review.

Enjoyed reading this. I find quite a lot of fantasy books have an autumn/winter vibe but this was a great summer read. Spicy, intriguing, some great tropes (fated mates, bodyguard romance). Defo recommend giving it a go

Ooooooft I would personally like to thank S.T Fernandez, because I finished reading this book and dreamed I was a water fae and it’s the best dream I’ve had in years (full Ariel moment).
This book is great, it’s insta love but with a very good slow build up to anything else more.
Normally with plots like this where the main character only just discovers fae or fantasy worlds they’re very naive and their innocence becomes annoying very quickly, however this story is told in a way that you can appreciate her learning and development throughout, which I thoroughly appreciated!
The plot and characters in this book are great and I enjoyed the banter and companionship that was built throughout.
The cliff hanger at the end has me craving for the next book in this new series!!
⭐️ This was an ARC review for my honest opinion ⭐️

Perfect summer-vibes for fantasy-readers!
This is a well-written underwather fantasy with everything, and spice!
Defently reading the next one!

The Veiled Heir is a ARC I am very pleasantly surprised by! The politics and magic system were easy to follow and the author did a great job at describing the elements and how they play into this story. I had never read a book about Atlantis before so this was a very nice way to *dip my toes* into this world. I loved the fated mates and I thought Drae was the absolute sweetest. I did feel like there was a slight lull in the middle of the book where nothing of much importance happened but the last quarter of the book made up for it! And the cliffhanger was beautifully done!
I recommend for anyone into these tropes:
Elemental Fae
Fated Mates
Spice and Scales
Battling Realms
Queens Rule

4.5 ⭐️
Wow. Wow. Wow. Just wow.
That was the extent of my thought process after reading this book. This was extremely hard to put down and for the first time ever I am sad I read an ARC so soon and have to wait until the next one comes out. I loved this book that much!
Asherha and Draevyn were perfection. The unending tension between Asherha and everyone else against her never felt flat or one dimensional. That poor woman had it coming from every angle but grew into a strong woman who wouldn’t be pushed around easily.
I haven’t read anything about Atlantis before or anything that took place 100% underwater, it was a refreshing (pun intended) experience.
I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book. I can’t get enough of this adventure.

To be honest, I had no idea what to expect when I started reading this book but The Veiled Heir was so easy to get into! I fell in love with it all, especially with the main couple, and the world building which I adored. I'm seriously excited for anything this author will write next, and if you're into underwater fantasy, you only have to dive into The Veiled Heir!

4.5 ⭐
My goodness this book was addicting -- I could not put it down and I'm on the edge of my seat now waiting for book 2.
Our story starts off in the Florida Keys and our FMC Ash's world gets turned upside down. S.T. Fernandez does an amazing job setting the scene...from Atlantis, to the Above World and the other Kingdoms. The politics and magic system are interesting but simple enough to understand.
There is a lot of action, spice and also beautiful found family moments. I am usually pretty good at predicting twists but the one on the final page had my jaw on the floor.
Thank you to Netgalley, Azalea Press and S.T. Fernandez for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

I love, love anything related to the sea so when I saw this book and water fae, I picked it up so fast.
I adored the city of Atlantis and the seeing Ash slowly grow into her role of Queen. Also love seeing Ash and Draevyn falling in love.
So excited for the next book to come!!

Hooked from the very beginning, The Veiled Heir was an ARC that I couldn’t seem to put down! After discovering she is the long lost heir to the Atlantis queendom, Asherah is thrust into a world she knows nothing about and has to navigate through a new land while also learning new things about herself.
Her relationship with Draevyn was swoon-worthy, I absolutely love a good fated mates story and their spice was hot! I really liked the fact that this one wasn’t completely “blinders on” - there’s a great conversation Drae has with Ash’s father that I thought was so artfully presented.
The only part that I felt detracted from the overall story with was how the main antagonist kept getting away with things. And not small things either which would be easier to brush off, but some pretty serious things that should have had consequences of been done in a more sneaky way so as not to reveal who the culprit was.
All in all though, I really enjoyed reading this book. The world was so intriguing and with the cliffhanger at the end, I’ll definitely be reading the next book to find out what happens!

3.75 stars
I absolutely loved the beginning of this book. The premise hooked me from the start and I loved the cast of characters we’ve been introduced to. Learning about the fae world through Ash’s eyes was so much fun, and I loved watching her grow.
I also loved her and Drae’s relationship. I thought that this was a really well done fated mates pairing and there’s one specific conversation between Drae and Ash’s father that I thought was masterfully done. I love that fated mates doesn’t mean a perfect problem free relationship. That’s something I don’t see much of and it was such a refreshing perspective!
I was onboard with a mid 4 star rating for this book until the last third. I don’t really understand why no one is really confronting the antagonist?! I get why this fae is important, but there’s laws against this stuff right? I felt like after some of the more intense confrontations and distractions that someone has to do something! Why do Ash’s family and friends keep falling for the same trick? It got to the point where I was frustrated each time this character showed up because even though it’s sort of explained at the end, I don’t understand why no one can do anything?
Now, I could have looked past the antagonist driving me crazy, but there’s a scene at the end that I felt like could have been skipped or adjusted and we could have still had the rest of the book play out the same way. I’ve tagged a trigger warning because of this scene.
I loved the premise, loved the cast of characters and the relationships, but I’m begging for our characters to learn from their mistakes and to be more vigilant in the next book! (Please, stop leaving Ash alone!!)
