*I mainly read the audio version of this book so please see my review of that version.*
An inspiring and deeply personal biography from my favourite expert from The Repair Shop.
Having watched many episodes of the tv program, I had heard Suzie refer to her time living in America so when I saw she had written a biography I was interested in learning more. What I wasn’t expecting was for it to be so honest and raw and have me crying within 5 minutes of starting reading it.
Suzie’s choice to reveal painful details of her life and marriage really hit a nerve with me and her strength and resilience are inspiring.
I was surprised by how well written the book was and listening to the audiobook felt like a long overdue catch up with an old friend..
I wasn’t expecting to feel so much while reading this biography but ended up finding it difficult to put down.
I am so glad that I read this book. I love watching Suzie on the Repair Shop, and marvel at her talent working with leather, and also the kindness and empathy that she shows to the people who ask for her help. I was really looking forward to getting an insight into the woman herself, and this is a very real, and often brutally honest look into her life her passions and beliefs and what makes her tick. As a 60+ year old woman myself, I share pretty much the same taste in music and references to culture in a lot of areas ,and also Suzie's love of nature and a lot of the same principles.it really resonated with me in a lot of areas, and I thought this was really moving and honest .I like Susie even more since reading this book and look forward to seeing what she does next ,and I recommend this book wholeheartedly.
