This book had a cosy charm to it that really suited an autumnal read. The main characters were well matched and the build up was full of a natural charm in which nothing felt rushed. The small sleepy town captured my heart and I would so love to be able to my own 'Dog Earred' bookstore in real life!

Spooky vibes yet set in snowy Christmas season threw me a bit, it was a slow start which I struggled to get into but pushed through and I’m glad I did end up enjoying it.
Even if a book isn’t a home run personally doesn’t mean it isn’t someone else’s 5🌟

A book with spooky vibes and set at Christmas, such a great idea !

I enjoyed this book, it had me laughing and smiling all throughout the book.

From the very first chapter I knew I loved the main characters, they are both so likeable which I usually don’t find in a lot of books.
The more that I read the more I wanted to keep reading more and more.

I enjoyed that it was a Christmassy book with a spooky side

I recommend this book for those who enjoy a romance read. It’s the perfect read for this time of year !

this book was enjoyable, but i wasnt obsessed. the romance bored me and the only thing that kept me reading was the haunting happenings. perfect for wanting a cosy read though!! i love characters who run a bookshop <3

This was a really charming read surrounded by fall and Christmas - I really enjoyed the concept and the main characters were very sweet together, in fact I don't think there was a character I didn't love by the end, however there was just something missing and I can't quite put my finger on it. That being said, this was still a very enjoyable read set in a gorgeous and cosy little small town that I don't think I'd want to leave either.

Charming fall read!
A perfect pumpkin spice romance with spooky elements and swoonworthy characters.
Lex was a super relatable main character. The anxiety was very well flashed out. Also her romance was adorable as well

DNF- Unfortunately this one wasn’t for me- I just found the romance didn’t really read well for me and the stakes didn’t appear high so I wasn’t compelled to read on. It felt quite slow starting and even though James was the love interest he barely graced the pages in the first few chapters. I felt like we were just told he was attractive but not actually shown anything to build on this although he did get a little more interesting after the first date. I struggled with Lex as well finding her quite annoying and I think the intention was we were meant to empathise with her but it just didn’t work for me 😔 I think this was definitely a ‘me’ thing and I know some readers will really like this one!

The cover is too cute for such a mediocre book.

Both MCs have parental/familial baggage and that was one reason as to how they bonded, which is not ‘goals’

Let’s be real the FMC baggage could have been fixed with one conversation with her family but nope she ignored everyone trying to help her rather than try and fix her issues she just it’s them fester till everything blows up in her face, even though she says multiple times she has biweekly therapy appointments there is ZERO personal growth from her, not even a scene where she is talking to a therapist, it’s just mentioned in passing.

There is very little background going on with the MMC other than he lives a nomadic lifestyle and never settles anywhere for too long. Yet when we get a glimps of his bedroom he has floor to ceiling bookshelves filled with his personal book collection, like what nomad is traveling with 100s of books, packing them and unpacking them every few months. Just no.

Then the third act break up, he gets annoyed at her for lying. Yet he is also lying about the same bloody thing, there is no apology and zero personal responsibility from either of them

One star for the book and one for the cover

You guys! 😍 This book is everything and more, it’s the perfect super cute romcom set in a cozy little town, and I'm obsessed! Picture this: a hot ghost hunter and a bookstore cutie who's totally making up the ghosts he's after. Juicy, right?

So, our girl Lex has this whole "no tourists" dating rule 'cause she's sick of people leaving her behind in her snoozy Vermont hometown. But then BAM! One snowy morning, she hitches a ride with this total hottie named James. Turns out, he's making a documentary about the town's "haunted" spots – which, plot twist, are all made up by Lex on her secret vlog! 🙊

When James shows up at Lex's bookshop (hello, meet-cute!), she can't help but get involved in his ghost-hunting shenanigans. I mean, who wouldn't? She starts spinning all these wild ghost tales, thinking it'll help her save up for her dream bookstore. Plus, James is only in town for a bit, so no harm, no foul, right?

But here's where it gets good – Lex starts catching feelings! 😭 And now she's worried her little white lies might mess up James's whole documentary. Talk about drama!

"Haunt Your Heart Out" is seriously the perfect read for when you're curled up with a pumpkin spice latte and want all the cozy, spooky, romantic vibes. It's like they took all the best parts of fall and smooshed them into one adorable book!

Can we talk about how freakin' cute Lex and James are together though? Their banter had me giggling like a teenager! And don't even get me started on Natalie – she's the BFF we all need in our lives.

Oh, and can I get a hallelujah for a main character who's in her 30s?! 🙌 It's so refreshing to see a romcom that's not all about twenty-somethings trying to figure out life.

Now, I peeked at some reviews before reading (bad habit, I know), and some people were whining about the pacing. But honestly? I thought it flowed smoother than my favourite latte. It was the perfect mix of laughs, swoons, and "aww" moments.

Overall, this book is adorable. It was exactly the pick-me-up I needed, and I legit caught myself laughing out loud more than once. If you need me, I'll be over here, dreaming about ghostly bookshops and hunky documentary makers. 👻📚💕

This was so super cute and exactly what I needed for some comforting escapism. This examined some more serious topics (family tensions, anxiety disorders etc) but I felt it did so in a way that felt so true to life. There were times when our characters' emotions got the better of them, and there were also moments for reflection and meaningful conversations.
If we ignore the snowy setting that would absolutely not do it for me, the small-town style was perfect - so many examples of a community pulling together, and you can't go wrong with a our FMC running a bookstore - I don't care if it's cliche.

I liked the ghostly vibes of this book and the small town Vermont setting, with plenty of snow and spooky tales. It would have been nice if it fed more into the small town trope and brought in more of a community feel but the relationship Lex has with her best friend Nat and Nat's parents is lovely, even if Lex's relationship with her own family is strained - though I love a character arc and all is not lost on that front. Sadly, this story didn't grip me and I found myself skimming a lot of the descriptive parts. It was slow moving and not much exciting really happens. It's also very light on dialogue so it was a lot more tell than show and so it seemed the chemistry between James and Lex wasn't developed well and nor was their relationship when the book was so light on conversations. Lulu was a very sweet addition though and I really felt like her personality jumped off the page when she appeared - though she was a dog so not a key character! Overall the writing is fine, it's the writing style that I didn't gel with or the lack of key plot points creating any hook.

I received a free copy of this book. All views are my own.

This is a sweet fall romance, featuring a ghost hunter, a bookshop keeper and a dog called Lulu. Lex spent her teen years filming fake ghost stories for her blog with her bbf and years later a crew come into town hoping to see said ghosts. She falls head over heels for one of the guys and just doesn't mention that they made most of it up.

Oh and then we have her family to deal with too. Terrible parenting from mum and dad who basically let her and her sister think the other is the favourite and abandon Lex after she drops out of uni. This leaves a whole bunch of baggage and trauma for her to live with.

This all combines into a bit of a disaster for the act 3 breakup.

It was a good read and hit most of the buttons it was supposed to.

It's always a good time for a Halloweendese romance!

Haunt Your Heart Out brings us a romance perfect for the fall-winter season, and here we meet Alex who runs a small bookstore in his hometown when he suddenly meets a stranger named James, who is there to film a documentary about ghosts, as ghost stories abound.

A quick read with paranormal touches that entertain during the reading and a group of characters that will make you have a good time.

To get you through the transition from Halloween to the Christmas holidays this is your story.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with access to this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is a fun small-town romcom with a cute premise around ghost hunting. Alex and her best friend had a ghostly podcast back in the day and it's come back to haunt her 👻 Alex is working in a second hand bookshop and living in her grandparents' house. She's got a complicated relationship with her family and an ongoing wrestle with anxiety. Gorgeous James comes to town. He's making a documentary about ghosts, but he has his own family complications and secrets. There's plenty happening with side characters and subplots to keep it all moving.

These two are good for each other, but there is a lot of navigate - not least of all Alex's insecurities. She's holds her views very tightly and this makes it hard for those around her. I don't want to spoil it, so if you like small-town life, insta-love, stubborn fmcs, cinnamon rolls and complicated families, with some charming ghosting to hold it all together, try this!

We’re getting into cosy season and I was soooo excited for this Halloween-themed romance to grace my NetGalley shelf! It was a really cute romance for the season and I always love a bookshop owner romance bc it just feels like they’re living my fantasy 🫶🏻

That being said, for some reason this one didn’t really click with me romance wise. I think it might’ve just all happened a bit too fast to begin with, which had me a bit sceptical which I never really like to be when I’m reading a cute romance. The relationship did grow on me, however, and I did love some of the more tender moments and honest discussions. This book also features some found family elements that I loved!

All in all, a cute and quick festive read that’s a nice one to pick up if you have a rainy afternoon to curl up for a couple of hours with 🥰

A really cute and unique romance. I love these new Halloween and autumn inspired romances and this is perfect for people who like Halloween but want just a little bit of spookiness. Really enjoyed the couple and found their relationship very sweet

2.5 stars.
This book follows Lex and James, who meet at the bookstore Lex works at, and they bond over ghost-hunting. James is in town to help his friend film a ghost-hunting documentary, and Lex decides to help when they become close as she had a ghost-hunting YouTube channel when she was younger. I liked the idea of this book, but for me, the execution was not great. I really liked James, and I found him relatable. I also liked Lex. However, she really annoyed me at certain parts. I also think that the relationship developed too quickly, and it didn't seem realistic. I enjoyed the sort of found family aspect of the book, and I love James' dog!
