Thank you Netgalley, Jeffrey Archer and HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction | HarperCollins for the eArc of An Eye For an Eye.
I am ashamed to say that this is my first ever book Ive read from this long standing author, Jeffrey Archer. And I really don't know why I have never picked up any of his booked before now. An Eye for an Eye is the 7th book of the William Warwick Novels but I have read this one as a standalone.
Eye for an Eye is a medium paced political fiction/ action thriller. Political thrillers have never really appealed to me as I thought it would be boring. This book is far from that! Within the first chapter, I was drawn in and captivated and wanted to know the direction of the the plot was going. Even though this is part of a series, I felt that there was enough character development/ information to fully bond with the characters, whilst getting a good sense of their parts to play within the narrative. The pacing of the book is spot on, with a steady medium pace throughout the book.
An Eye for an Eye was a pleasant surprise for me and I will be seeking out more of Jefrey Archers books in the future.
George Blagden narrated this book and I had the pleasure of both listening to the audio as well as reading. George has the perfect voice for these sort of books. He has an excellent storytelling voice which brought both the narrative and characters to life even further. I will also be looking at listening to more books by this narrator.

One of the world’s most interesting and well-known authors, Jeffrey Archer, returns for the penultimate entry in his long-running William Warwick series, An Eye For An Eye.
Well-known British figure Jeffrey Archer has carved an intriguing niche for himself as a crime fiction author over the last few decades. Known for his compelling and fast-paced crime fiction reads, which often contain a historical element to them, Archer has written a huge body of work, including his Kane and Abel books, his Clifton Chronicles and standalone novels such as Heads You Win. His most recent focus has been his entertaining William Warwick series, which follows the titular protagonist as he rises the ranks of the Metropolitan Police over a period of years while solving a series of complex crimes and facing off against his dastardly nemesis. I have had a brilliant time with several books in this series, including Nothing Ventured, Hidden in Plain Sight, Turn a Blind Eye and Traitors Gate, all of which have proven to be quite exciting and enjoyable. As such, it was an easy choice to grab the latest entry in the series, An Eye For An Eye, which had an excellent plot behind it. The seventh book in the series, An Eye For An Eye is the second to last William Warwick book, and Archer keeps the excitement going all the way to the end.
Archer pulls together another compelling, intense and exciting story for An Eye For An Eye that combines an intriguing new storyline with some of the series’ existing plotlines. Starting off with a murder in Riyadh that throws the British government into turmoil, the plot sees William Warwick and his team drawn into an international concern, as one of their team members, the roguish Inspector Ross Hogan, is recruited to save a British government delegate and the heir to the Hartley family, who has been framed and falsely imprisoned for murder. However, things become even more problematic when the protagonist’s old criminal rival, Miles Faulkner, becomes involved with the plot, desperate to not only have his revenge against Warwick, Hogan, and their loved ones but also steal a valuable letter from the Hartley family.
What follows is the usual game of cat and mouse between the protagonists and the vengeful Faulkner, as Warwick’s team attempts to counter the criminal’s various ploys, while also trying to find evidence that will allow them to put him away again. This combines nicely with the larger storyline around the international conspiracy involving the imprisonment of the British delegate, and I liked the compelling back-and-forth twists as the protagonists doggedly try to stop Faulkner getting out on top. There are some fun twists as we get towards the end of the book, and readers are treated to the usual fast-paced excitement that they have come to know and appreciate over the course of the series. Everything comes together nicely in a gripping cliffhanger conclusion as Archer lays the groundwork for the final book in the series, which looks set to be the big showdown between the long-time series rivals.
As with the previous books in the William Warwick series, An Eye For An Eye was a really entertaining and fast-paced read that kept dragging the reader along with it. Featuring a wonderful blend of intrigue, schemes, complex thrills and interesting character work, An Eye For An Eye was very fun and you honestly have a hard time putting down the constantly moving story. Archer once again brings back his eccentric group of protagonists, which include Chief Superintendent William Warwick, his boisterous family, the various key police officers he has teamed up over the years, as well as a fun collection of rogues and victims introduced in this plot. Thanks to Archer’s use of quick-changing character perspectives, you get an interesting look at the plot from various points of view, which allowed for an intricate tale with a lot of moving parts to it.
Out of all these characters, my favourite has to be the main series antagonist, Miles Faulkner, a master criminal and schemer who the protagonist has been feuding with since the very first novel. Thanks to their lengthy history and many defeats, Faulkner is a little obsessed with Warwick, Hogan, and their colleagues and families, engaging in a series of plots against them that range from killing their key witness to trying to get Warwick’s wife fired from her gallery directorship. While this rivalry and the elaborate means that Faulkner utilises to spite and try to destroy the protagonists is very over the top, especially as it has been going now for seven books and over 20 in-series years, it is frankly very entertaining, and I love how much energy Archer puts into writing Faulkner as the ultimate gentleman criminal. The back-and-forth schemes and ploys between Faulkner and the protagonists are always a highlight of any book in the series, and An Eye For An Eye showcases this perfectly, delighting both new readers and those already invested in the long-running feud. Indeed, the conclusion of this book brings this into focus perfectly, and I cannot wait to see how they finish off this feud in the final William Warwick book later this year.
Jeffery Archer once again impresses with his exciting and captivating William Warwick novel, An Eye For An Eye. Setting his fun protagonists on a compelling new crime fiction adventure while also featuring the author’s fantastic recurring villain, An Eye For An Eye had me hooked the entire way through, and it is so easy to sit back and enjoy this fantastic read. A gripping and highly enjoyable novel, I look forward to seeing how Archer wraps up the series with his next and final William Warwick book.

A man goes to Saudi Arabia to assist the British Government and is framed for murder. Meanwhile William Warwick's arch nemesis Miles Faulkner is released from jail, determined to destroy Warwick and his wife. As Warwick tries to juggle family and increased responsibility he becomes aware that Faulkner is trying to make a lot of money and the whole thing is linked to the Saudis. Now there is a race to save a man's life.
I do really enjoy these Archer novels about William Warwick but I am concerned that I don't see them as others see them! To my mind these books are nice recent timeframe period romps, not too violent, and quite witty. I don't see them as high octane thrillers. Anyway, that shouldn't matter because they sit perfectly in a place that works for me.

This was my first William Warwick novel and indeed, my first Jeffrey Archer read! I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I enjoyed it. Fast paced and filled with an interesting plot and great characters, this was definitely a page turner. I would read more Archer novels for sure.

It’s always an absolute pleasure to read a Jeffrey Archer book. This latest instalment in the William Warwick series is just as brilliant as usual with arch nemesis’ mikes Faulkner and his counsel, Booth Watson still trying their best to bring the team down.
An absolute belter of a read.

This story is the penultimate book in the William Warwick series. It can be read as a standalone but the series is well worth reading. Fast moving action and an ingenious plot lead to a fantastic read with a real cliff hanger at the end. Looking forward to the last in the series.

A brilliant new addition in this very readable series. I raced through this as it was so good. I always enjoy these books and this one was up there with the others. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

As the penultimate William Warwick novel in the series, this certainly doesn’t disappoint. I could not put this book down as we once again enter the lives of William Warwick, his family and his team. A fast moving plot, which moves between the Middle East, London and New York where you catch yourself holding your breath at some of the audacious yet entirely plausible plot lines with a finale that is just frankly staggering. I will be looking forward to the next instalment - the only downside is that it will be the final book of the series. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this novel in return for an honest review

#AnEyeforanEye #NetGalley Although this is part of a series of books (William Warwick series), it is capable a being read as a standalone as the author gives enough references to previous events to keep the reader engaged. However, I do urge readers to read the previous books as this is a great series. Lots of action and plots and sub plots - Jeffery Archer is an excellent story teller. The cliffhanger ending with Ross leaves the reader desperate for the next in this series. I hope it isn't too long!!

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for the complimentary copy of An Eye for an Eye by Jeffrey Archer.
This was my first book with Jeffrey Archer, and I thought I would have enjoyed it more than I did, but unfortunately, it did not impress me.
Perhaps I should read the first few books in this series.
A man has been imprisoned for a murder he did not commit. A witness that needs to be smuggled out of the country to testify on the innocence of the imprisoned man. The prison is in the Middle East where judgement is passed before reaching a trial for those that are not in power.
A document signed by the original authors of the Declaration of Independence. Letters shared between two men over two hundred years ago.
The story line seems to be highly improbable. I appreciate that it is a work of fiction, but it just didn't seem very believable.
The writing is good, but didn't enjoy the storyline, I'm sorry.

A billion-dollar deal is about to go badly wrong as a night out in a luxurious city ends in murder.
Thousands of miles away, Lord Hartley is dying, leaving an inheritance with huge consequences.
These two deaths are Continents apart and unrelated, but they are the centre of a master criminal’s plot for revenge…
Can Scotland Yard’s Chief Superintendent William Warwick uncover the truth before an innocent man’s life and legacy are destroyed?
Once again, master plotter @jeffrey_archer_author has pulled off a sublime outing for our favourite characters, mixing real timelines with wonderfully crafted and immersive storytelling. Miles is about to be released from prison, Beth is raising money for a Dutch masterpiece, Ross is happily enjoying his romantic association with his daughter’s headmistress, and William is wondering about a promotion for the Hawk at the start of this book. We are whirled through their lives in a fast-paced, thrilling story dominated by themes of greed, bribery and corruption and revenge. I literally read this book in less than a day because I didn’t want to put it down…

An Eye for an Eye, the seventh book in Jeffrey Archer’s William Warwick series, is a thrilling and intricately plotted novel that hooks readers from the very first page. Archer delivers a masterclass in suspense as Chief Superintendent William Warwick faces his most challenging adversary yet: Miles Faulkner, Warwick’s archenemy who is out for revenge after being released from prison.
The novel spans from the luxurious city of Riyadh to the quiet countryside of Berkshire, weaving multiple storylines together with Archer’s signature flair. A billion-dollar deal gone wrong in Saudi Arabia leads to a shocking murder, plunging the British government into turmoil. Meanwhile, the death of Lord Hartley sets off a dramatic inheritance battle with unforeseen consequences. What makes An Eye for an Eye so compelling is how these seemingly unrelated events are masterfully connected into a broader criminal plot that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.
Archer’s ability to craft complex characters shines in this novel. Warwick’s relentless pursuit of justice and his ability to navigate a world filled with corruption, lies, and forgeries make him a protagonist worth rooting for. The supporting cast is equally well-developed, and even for those unfamiliar with the earlier books in the series, it’s easy to become invested in their stories.
Despite being part of a series, An Eye for an Eye stands on its own, making it accessible to new readers without requiring knowledge of previous installments. This was my first book that I read in the series, and I didn’t feel lost by not having the previous books in this series. The separation of the plot into distinct, yet interconnected, stories helps keep track of the various characters and events, enhancing the readability and keeping the pace brisk.
With numerous twists, high-stakes drama, and a cliffhanger ending, An Eye for an Eye is a gripping tale of intrigue and revenge that will leave fans eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the William Warwick series. Jeffrey Archer once again proves why he is a master of storytelling.

Another fantastic read by Jeffrey Archer. His book do not disappoint if you haven't read anything by him previously start now!

Every book in the William Warwick series is a little bit better than the last (as were the Clifton Chronicles), even when I think they couldn’t possibly get any better! Another truly wonderful read featuring a lot of twists and turns, a lot of familiar friends and foes, and a plot full of red herrings and near misses. It was only whilst reading the Acknowledgements that I realised this time one of the key characters is based on a real life character with a similarly colourful background, and some further reading shows an unlikely friendship between Billy Mumford, the Met and Jeffrey Archer.
Brilliant as always, but I’m now gutted that I have to wait another year for the conclusion of the story - what a place to end!
With thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I love Jeffrey Archers writing and was really looking forward to reading this book the 7th in the William Warwick series.
I was not disappointed. A great read.
This could easily be read as a standalone if needed as it is an easy book to follow if you’ve not read the previous.
Jeffrey has a way with story telling and his plots are exciting with lots of twists and turns.
Loved it

As my mother and auntie love Jeffrey Archer’s books, notably the William Warwick series, I knew I had to give An Eye for An Eye a chance - they have read every instalment and have been adamant I pick them up.
This was a really interesting book. Jeffrey effortlessly manages to take smaller strands of plot lines and weave them together into a fascinating story with twists and turn. I was so close to whipping out a cork board and some red string and really piecing it together.
We meet a myriad of characters throughout who all felt integral to the overall journey we are taken on. There are characters who are based on real figures in history, both British and American, and I felt oddly proud for recognising them.
There were a few parts I felt were a little rushed but all in all this book was a delight to read.
Although this book is part of a larger series, it can be read as a standalone. All important plot pieces are explained throughout the book, in conversations and nod backs to pivotal moments, so you don’t feel completely at a loss on how we have gotten to this part of the story.
I will definitely be picking up the final book and going back to read the others in the series.
A special thanks to HarperCollins UK and NetGalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Storyteller extraordinaire Jeffrey Archer is back with this, the seventh book in the excellent William Warwick series; another slick, fast-paced cops and robbers yarn that entertains from start to finish.
Once again, William finds himself up against his old nemesis, Miles Faulkner, who, newly released from prison, is hell bent on exacting revenge from the man who put him there.
The perfect opportunity arises, when two seemingly unrelated deaths take place thousands of miles apart; one in the Saudi capital Riyadh and the other in the English countryside. But each has consequences for the other, and Faulkner is in there like a rat down a drainpipe to turn things to his advantage.
With a flurry of subplots — ranging from an arms deal gone wrong to the false imprisonment of an English peer, and from political shenanigans and bribery to United States’ history — there’s a heck of a lot going on in this book. But credit where credit’s due. Archer somehow manages to keep it simple; his storytelling such that you never lose track of the plot.
The narrative flows at breakneck speed, but it’s an easy, engrossing romp of a read, elevated above the ordinary by the trademark bells and whistles that make Archer’s writing so unique. Witty, clever, and almost dizzying in its many twists and turns, it delivers a punchline that leaves you gasping for the next book.
Much of what makes Archer’s writing stand apart is the detail he weaves in about the British establishment and the historical references he pulls up to add color to his storytelling. In this instance, I was fascinated to learn about Thomas Jefferson’s proposed amendments to the US Declaration of Independence, notably the abolition of slavery.
I absolutely love the cast of characters that Archer has created for this series, and I so enjoy seeing them being further fleshed out with every book. In this instalment, it’s William’s right-hand man, Inspector Ross Hogan, who finds himself in the thick of the action.
Disconcertingly, it is also Ross who finds himself hanging off a metaphorical cliff at the end of the book. And we readers, who have to wait a frustrating twelve months to find out his fate.
Although this can easily be read as a standalone, I highly recommend starting at the beginning of the series in order to enjoy it in all its glory.

What an absolute page turner! This penultimate William Warwick novel packs all of the brilliant punches we’ve come to expect from this series. Right from the very beginning the action comes thick and fast involving all of the important characters in Warwick’s life from his wife Beth, to his children, to his colleagues and best friend Ross, and of course his arch nemesis Faulkner. A thrilling national storyline of arms deals and corruption, subterfuge at the Fitzmolean, and an invaluable piece of long lost American history all come together in this roller coaster read. I can’t wait for the final instalment next year!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for a review.

William Warwick is back and so is his arch nemesis Miles Faulkner , so let the games of cat and mouse begin!
The story is compelling and I had high hopes that Faulkner would get his comeuppance.
The writing is fast paced with plenty of twists and turns and is littered with details about politics, the law and the art world which means there is plenty to keep the readers interest .
Jeffrey Archer writes a clever and entertaining story and it has left me chomping at the bit for the next in the series .
Thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK.

I have been enjoying the series following the criminal activities of Miles Faulkner and the efforts of DI Warwick to capture him once and for all! As usual, Archer writes a really good novel and I understand the next book is to be the grande finale. I can’t wait! I would thoroughly recommend this book although it would be better if you read the previous novels involving these characters first to understand the relationships with wives/ex-wives, work partners, etc.
