This is the second in the DI Sheridan Holler series but can easily be read as a standalone.

Set in Liverpool, the story opens with a woman jumping to her death from a high building. The next day, two bodies are found on Crosby beach; a man partially buried in the sand and a woman tied to one of the Gormley statues.

Meanwhile, a murder case is reopened - that of Daniel Parks - and Sheridan is perturbed to discover that he is linked to the three latest bodies even though Daniel’s body hasn’t been found.

This was a story that really had me gripped. I’m looking forward to the next in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for an advance reader copy in return for an honest review.

Jennifer owns a book store so you know I instantly love her. Jennifer’s brother, Daniel, is missing and presumed dead. Murdered. By their father. Who was found not guilty by the jury.

And the investigation to find Daniel and his killer has grown cold. Then Jennifer’s parents, Ronald and Rita, are killed. And the case is reopened. Anna and Sheridan are the investigators, and there is so much to untangle.

This was really good and the twists kept the story interesting. I absolutely adore Anna, Sheridan and Sam – and will certainly look for book 1 in the series.

This Ends Now (Detective Sheridan Holler Book 2) A twisted, complicated and complex, dark disturbing case that causes nightmares. There are multiple trigger warnings throughout. However, random humorous moments with just the right amount of lightheartedness ease some of the intensity of the storyline. A gripping, challenging read.
Thank you to the author, Thomas & Mercer , and Netgalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for my copy of This Ends Now by T M Payne
This is the second book on the Detective Sheridan Holler series but I found this book worked fine as a standalone.
A couple are found murdered and this leads Sheridan to their daughter who is still recovering from the death of her brother nine months ago.
Are the deaths connected ? Sheridan and her team are trying to get to the bottom of this very convoluted tale.
A very good engrossing read with some unsettling themes.

Wow one of the best books I’ve read in ages,a fascinating story line that had me hooked very early on .All the main characters come to life and each have their own part to play, essentially a crime story but a very subtle humouros side toi it which had me smiling to myself throughout.Very highly recommended read, and look forward to catching up with Sheridan and her cohorts soon.

THIS WAS SO GOOD??
It was written so pleasantly, and the characters actually felt like people to me, rather than words written on a page. I'll definitely need to get my hands on the first book in this series.

Wow, wow, wow, this book got to me. I just couldn't put it down and have read in three sittings. Where to start... When Jennifer Parks brother, Daniel is murdered, their father was arrested and tried for the crime, but was found not guilty. Jennifer never gave up looking for her brother's murder. DI Sheridan Holler takes over nine months later when a woman jumps from a rooftop restaurant and there are connections to the Parks case. This is the second book with DI Sheridan Holler and it does not disappoint. This is a very dark gripping story with domestic violence, suicide & sexual abuse of all kinds (if you are delicate do not read this). Great police procedurals and I loved the character of Sheridan. This is a must read, rated 5 stars but I would have given it 10!!!

I loved the first in the DI Sheridan Holler series so couldn’t wait to read This Ends Now, the second in the series.
After the discovery of the bodies of a couple on Crosby beach, Sheridan reopens the murder case of Daniel Parks.
This is a dark, twisty and gripping crime novel with lots of surprises and some horrendous family secrets that I raced through this over the course of 24 hours. I enjoy the characterisations in this series and particularly enjoy the relationship between Sheridan and her DS Anna.
I do find some of the humour a little cringey and unnecessary but this aside this was a pacy and compelling read.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.

The second in the DI Sheridan Holler series sees the Liverpool detective drawn into a complex family tale. She feels a connection to Jennifer, a young woman whose brother was murdered, because she had the same experience herself. But the case becomes darker and more twisted that she could imagine.

There are too many surprises in the novel to say too much without spoilers -but this isn't one for the faint hearted. Holler and her team strive over months to find the truth, following new leads and theories before eventually it all falls into place.

The characters are well developed - Holler and her team, their strange new boss and the various adversaries and witnesses. This Ends Now is gripping and, in places, a difficult read. The occasional touches of humour sprinkled through the book do just enough to add some levity.

Trigger warning: This book includes abuse, suicide, sexual assault, and child sexual abuse.

I really enjoyed this book. While it had some tough parts in it that could be triggering, they really are important to the plot. If the above warning can trigger you then it’s best to skip this one.

Two murder cases (one cold and one current) are working on being solved during this book. The detectives are the cases refuse to give up no matter what. I love each of the characters as well as the twists and turns. Very good character development! Definitely read if you aren’t easily triggered!

The second in the police series set in Liverpool featuring DI Sheridan Holler. This is a gripping and very gritty read. A case of murder is reopened. The father has been investigated, everyone believing him guilty, but a conviction isn't secured as the evidence isn't comprehensive enough. Sheridan and her team are asked to reopen the investigation and find more evidence to secure a conviction.
This is a twisty story that deals with child abuse, rape and suicide. At times it became a little over the top but it was a quick and compelling read.

DI Sheridan Holler's brother was murdered as a child, so she feels very sympathetic to Jennifer, who is searching for her brother Daniel's body after their father has been acquitted of the murder. Then there are three more gruesome murders, and Sheridan wonders if Jennifer is being entirely truthful with her. A very disturbing and dark mystery novel with multiple trigger warnings, including rape, suicides, incest, abortion, mutilation, and domestic violence--over the top for me. Netgalley provided me with an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the eARC.
What a fantastic book, I loved it and can't wait for no. 3!
The 2 Detectives, Sheridan and Anna are a delight, as is Sheridan's partner Sam and their cat is hilarious. Their boss grew on me quite a bit too (thumb up!).
The story is excellent, keeping you gripped in your seat. I can't say enough about the talented and humorous writing. The 1st in the series was great too. This author is climbing up my 10 favorite authors list; so glad I discovered her thanks to NetGalley!
The plot is complicated and really smart, with an ending that made me hate to say goodbye to the characters.
Hope no. 3 is not too long in the making!

This Ends Now was an absolutely shocking and thrilling second book in the Detective Sheridan Holler series. It is set around two years after the first book, and can be read as a stand-alone book, if you haven’t read book one yet. (But after you read what punches T.M. Payne can pack in between the covers of this novel, you’ll be racing to grab book one!)

Payne starts off the novel with an absolutely brilliant prologue, filled with intrigue, jaw-dropping action, and it leaves you unable to wait to continue reading to make sense of it all.

Avoiding any spoilers is going to make this review hard to write, but the basic story is that DI Sheridan Holler and her DS Anna Markinson get assigned a high profile cold case by their new DCI Hill Knowles. Along the way, they get involved in a couple of other interesting cases that may or may not be connected to their cold case. A father was arrested and tried for the murder of his son. The father was acquitted, and the team is doing their due diligence to make sure that new evidence cannot be brought to light, to help with the finding and convicting of the real murderer, even if it was his father.

The sister of the presumed-dead young man attempts to help the police with their investigation, and was able to assist with some new clues. When DI Holler and team get closer to the answers, though, other drama kicks off, including more murders.

Will DI Holler and her crew ever get to the actual answers and solve the murders that are piling up in Liverpool?

Payne allows her characters to be humans, with wit, humor, intelligence, deception, lying, and well-intentioned plant thievery. It’s an excellent read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for this wonderful ARC!!

This Ends Now by T.M. Payne is the second book in the Detective Sheridan Holler Trilogy, published by Thomas & Mercer. The previous book is Long Time Dead, blurb: DI Sheridan Holler is used to solving crimes on Liverpool’s streets, but after a body turns up in a cemetery, she finds herself reopening not one but two cold cases. Seven years earlier, two women were shot and the only suspect, a small-time drug dealer was never seen again. Case closed. Until the body in the cemetery is identified as his.
Book two leads Holler to her next case. A twisted, complicated and complex case that gives her nightmares and has her hands full.
Brilliantly written and beautifully told, keeping the suspense from start till the very unexpected end, I read the whole book, cover to cover in one sitting. I recommend the book and the series, 5 stars.
