I'm reviewing this via NetGalley, as part of a tour with Rachel's Random Resources.

I think that Cornwall is one of my favourite locations to escape to when reading a book, because there's something about it that seems cosy and comforting, and that's partly why I chose this.

This book is part of the Cornish Country Hospital series, and I haven't read any of the previous books in the series, or anything by this author before. However, I felt there was something about the writing that made me connect quite deeply with the characters, and I felt as though I got to know them really well, during the time I spent reading. Isla, Aidan and Jase were all wonderful characters that I connected with in different ways.

I cared about the characters and what happened to them, and parts of this book made me emotional while I was reading. It was a story of love and friendship, and I found it comforting, heartwarming, and a tearjerker, all at the same time.

Thank you to NetGalley, Rachel's Random Resources, Boldwood Books, and to the author, for the opportunity to read and review this.

One of the many things I love about the author’s books is her willingness to embrace really difficult issues, with a sureness of touch that never wavers – telling a story that certainly has its emotional moments, but with enough lightness that makes her writing such a pleasure to read. Isla’s choice to help out her friend Aidan and his husband Jase is so well handled – they really would be the best fathers a child could hope for – and the reasons behind it exceptionally touching, her actions inspired by the difficult loss of the father she loved. But along with the decision to create a new life – and I learned so much about the whole area of surrogacy and the steps everyone involved needed to follow – there are more difficult decisions to come when things don’t go quite as smoothly as everyone hopes it will.

Emotionally, this book is quite testing – I was in tears a number of times, and really felt a touch battered by the end. And the story of Isla, Aidan and Jase isn’t the only one that affected me deeply – there are a number of other threads that pick up difficult issues, other individuals who need the intervention of the hospital team, all equally perfectly handled. The individuals are all so very real, and they felt like my friends too – and that made every setback they experienced hurt that bit more. But this is an author with whom I always feel in safe hands, and this whole book is permeated with an exceptional warmth and a big helping of love – all the more challenging content beautifully balanced by the support of friendship, the closeness of family (although not always without its complications), and the kindness shown by others who might have started out as strangers.

Despite the challenges faced by some of the individuals, and the moments that touched me to the heart, the whole book is tremendously uplifting – and although there were tears aplenty, there’s so much between its pages that was joyous and made me smile (even laugh at times, however unlikely that might seem…). And yes, there’s even a gentle romance that I really loved – a very touching and believable one that was a perfect fit for the unfolding story. And the book’s title? I wasn’t convinced when I first saw it – but it’s just perfect, and really captures the book’s key message.

I honestly don’t think the author has ever written better – these were people I cared about really deeply, and I just loved the way she held my hand throughout their story, as she unflinchingly dealt with some of the most heartbreaking content but did it with absolute authenticity and love for the individuals she created. And I think I’ve said enough – other than to urge you to read this wonderful book, that I really couldn’t recommend more highly.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. I love Jo Bartlett's books, and this is easily my favourite of the Cornish Country Hospital series so far. Bartlett created a fantastic cast of characters. I was thoroughly engaged in the story, which was written well and carefully wove in humour and emotion. I was utterly invested and can't wait to read the next in the series. I would love it to pick up with Aidan, Jase, Reuben, and Isla again.

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book by Jo Bartlett.

Most of story is about Isla and her colleague Aiden. But we do catch up with other characters and their lives.

Since Isla lost her Dad. She wanted to do something to show how much he meant to, and the life she has now. When Aiden mentions that he and husband Jase want to start a family and are looking at following the surrogacy route, Isla tells him that she will donate some of her eggs.

But, before Aiden and Jase can start on their journey to becoming parents, Isla receives some news about her health which isn’t what she was expecting to hear. There are some hurdles for them all to cross on their journey. .

The story was brilliantly written, and sensitive topics were covered beautifully. It made you feel every emotion.

I highly recommend this book.

Isla Marlowe has felt driven to commemorate the passing of her father in some significant way so when the opportunity arose she volunteered to her friend Aidan to donate some of her eggs so that him and his partner Jase could become parents.
Things don't run smoothly for her and it takes the support of her chosen family to show her that life is what you make it.
Another beautiful easy flowing read. Jo Bartlett writing transports you to the stunning Cornish countryside along with lovely believable and sometimes quirky characters. These are perfect holiday reads.

This is another great story that goes beyond just a romance (though there is a bit of that too). The perspective of the egg donor in an IVF story was really interesting. Isla's reasoning is well thought-out and makes perfect sense. I appreciated the extensive discussions between Isla & Aidan and Aidan & Jase about the egg donation; it wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision for anyone, and even more discussions occurred when Isla's health took a turn. I just wish Aidan had been upfront about his thoughts and that Isla could have approached him when she sensed he was having second thoughts. One simple conversation could have prevented a lot of stress for both of them.

It was wonderful to learn more about Aidan, who we’ve met as a supporting character in previous books. I enjoyed discovering what was beneath the surface. It was heartening that Jase's family welcomed him (and Isla) warmly, especially since his own family was quite a letdown. I’m glad Aidan reached a point where he could be honest with his family, particularly his father, though I’m not entirely convinced by how quickly everyone came around. And while I found it hard to believe his father would show support on an online forum, I’m happy for Aidan because he deserved family involvement in his life, so I can overlook that.

The romance for Isla was also really sweet. The pacing of her and Reuben's story was perfect. There’s an immediate attraction, but their relationship develops gradually through family group chats and dinners. I’m glad she realized her mistake in pushing him away. And, as always, I love how this author naturally incorporates characters from previous books so we get updates on them without their stories overshadowing the main plot.

A really lovely story set in a hospital. Not doom and gloom but, a very easy read with a great ending. I loved how all the characters helped each other and we so involved with everyday life. Just right. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I loved being back amongst the wonderful characters at the hospital and meeting some new ones as well. Isla was particularly sympathetic as I found myself nodding with each of her self-imposed reasons behind her choices. It seemed totally natural not to risk her heart when it had been broken so many times.
One of those heartbreaks, the loss of her father, led to her decision to make a most generous offer to her colleague Aidan and his husband, Jase. Their desire to be parents was at the point where they were considering surrogacy and the rollercoaster of emotions that come with that decision.
What soon emerged from the story was the evidence that Isla may have been apart from her family, other than her grandmother, but she had an incredibly strong support network to guide her through some of the biggest decisions of her life. Of course, nothing runs smoothly, and Isla is forced to contend with news that could steer her off course for life. In a beautiful symmetry, she found strength from a most unlikely source and that brought more than a few tears to my eyes.
This gorgeous book dealt with so much more than the topics I would usually expect in Women’s or Romantic Fiction, but that doesn’t mean that they’re not there, they simply act as a supporting theme. The story is plausible and definitely provided food for thought. For me, it was the warmth that each chapter exuded that I found the most wonderful.
The story arc for Isla was difficult but helped her discover her true place in life and also recognise those who had come into her life and decided to stay. Those are the family members we choose for ourselves, and Isla eventually realised that her found family was perfectly extended and all supportive.

A great book . It talks about how difficult is to have a child couples of the same sex or couple with problems of infertility . Aidan and Isla both work as nurses at the St.Pirans Hospital and he and his husband trying to have a child with the help of en egg donor when Isla tells him that she will do it . But when her test exams come there is a health problem .
I received this book from netgalley , the author and the publicer as an ARC . Thank you . All thoughts and opinions are my own .

This is the most desirable Cornish Country series and I am so pleased to have read all the books so far including this one. I think this one is the most emotional and it's a rollercoaster of ups and downs. In this book we follow Isla, Aidan and Chase as Isla has just lost her father after he battled a awful disease. Aidan and Chase are going through a journey of trying to have a baby. I also loved hearing what our other favourite characters have been up to. My favourite is Gwen who I think of as mother hen. She is always there for all the staff with a listening ear and kind words. I am so excited for the next book I'm not sure how I'm going to wait patiently but I hope this is going to be a long series. I am a emotional wreck right now because of how powerful the writing of the plot is and also because I didn't want it to ever end!

Oh how I love Jo Bartlett’s books and how she covers sensitive topics so brilliantly. In this latest of the Cornish Country Hospital series the focus is on A&E nurse Isla and fellow nurse Aiden and his husband Jase. Wanting to do something to honour her late father Isla decides to donate some of her eggs. Aiden and Jase want to start a family and have decided to go down the route of surrogacy. But as we all know life is never simple and there are many bumps in the road for them all on this journey. Beautifully written and covering some very different family dynamics, friendships and some brilliant realistic characters this had me going on a rollercoaster of emotions. I can’t wait for the next story! Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC

Welcome back to St. Piran's hospital!

This time, it's about two different sets of people: Firstly, Aidan and Jase, and their journey to becoming parents.
And Isla who has decided in honour of her father's memory to become an egg donor. And a budding romance with a certain someone else.
(Isla and Aidan both work as nurses in the emergency room at St. Piran's. )

The sensitivity in which two topics were covered in this was well done and informative, and it made me connect with all the characters involved.

Jase's family is so wonderful and accepting. Anyone with a family like that is very blessed.

As always, I adore this hospital drama series, and I enjoyed being back at St. Piran's. And seeing old favourite characters again, ( and one we love to hate) While this is the third in the series, it can be read as a standalone, but I'd recommend reading the first two to fully immerse yourself.

Read this if you like
