The Nurses lie
By Daniel Hurst
Publish date: Aug 1, 2024

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you NetGalley, bookouture and Daniel Hurst for allowing me to read this ARC and provide my unbiased review.

This is book 2 from the perfect nurse series. We are following both Pippa and Darcy once again in this twisting, suspenseful book.

This book takes place 3 months after the last one with Darcy starting her new life in Florida. With her memory gone once again besides a note book telling her who her family is and to never return to Chicago or watch the news. Once again Darcy is drawn to drama and danger.

While back in Chicago Pippa is left dealing with the stress of her consequences from helping Darcy. While also struggling with her marriage and a busy 4 year old son.

What’s worse than one sister being a murder but two??? Pippa has to make a choice between protecting herself and her family or taking a life.

Very solid plot line I enjoyed every minute of this book. Daniel Hurst has a way of drawing you into the pages. The cliff hanger at the end has be wanting the third book ASAP!!! Highly recommend if you enjoy a psychological thriller that has you sitting at the edge of your seat!

Another easy, simple read but I wasn't as hooked on this as the 1st book. Due to the simplicity of it, the depth of the story was missing. I liked the dual POV but I'm not sure it was needed as I found Pippa's POV just very flustered and unbelievable. Cliff hanger doesn't really make me want to know what's next which is a shame. Still a good read if you don't want to think too much

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the DRC

A cracking read! It's fast paced believeable plot leaves you with no doubt that it's going to be a bumpy ride. I enjoyed unwrapping the secrets and lies of the deceptively plotted storyline. Amazing writing!

I had the opportunity to read this as an ARC through net galley. This is my second book that I’ve read by this author and will definitely not be my last. This was the second in the Perfect Nurse series. It follow Darcy as she tried to make ends meet in a new state. She is hired to be a caregiver for an elderly man with dementia by a kind stranger who takes pity on her. The elderly man accuses his son of some pretty concerning things and Darcy finds herself in a not so pleasant predicament. It also follows her sister Pippa as things from the past start to catch up to them at home. This book was a really quick and easy read. It was very action packed and was hard to put down. I am hoping there is a third book to the series as it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger.

The ongoing tale of Darcy, a nurse harboring a secret unknown even to herself due to amnesia from a car accident. Pippa, Darcy's sister had a part in this lie, one that she has to keep secret at all costs because she has too much to lose. She cannot lose her husband and her son, which she knows will happen if someone finds out this horrible truth. Pippa sent Darcy away to keep her from remembering the secret they both hold deep inside. Darcy, who moved far from her family she no longer knows meets a kind man named Parker and agrees to a job he offered her taking care of his ailing father in the beginning stages of Alzheimers. Soon after starting the job, she realizes something is not quite right with Parker and his father Joe. Joe starts saying horrible things about his son that make her question everything. Pippa is scrambling to keep this secret hidden and will do anything to keep it that way. A thriller that slowly ratchets up the tension with an ending that begs for a sequel. I quite enjoyed this series and feel like we haven't heard the end of Darcy and Pippa just yet.

I loved this book! I feel like this is going to be similar to the Doctor series. I love the characters and Darcy having amnesia makes the story even more interesting. I can't wait for the next one!!

I finished this book this morning and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Whilst I have not read the first book in the series, I feel that I was still able to follow along.

This is book 2 of The Perfect Nurse series by Author Daniel Hurst. I enjoyed this book just as much as I did book 1 of the series. This book continues with Darcy moving to Florida to start over after running from things that happened back in Chicago when she and her sister, Pippa, worked as home nursing caregivers. There are plenty of twists, turns and surprises in this very fast moving book with great ending. I really hope there is going to be a book 3 in this series.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this exciting book that was a real page turner and kept me on the edge of my seat.

The story is told in alternating POVs between Pippa and Darcy. Since leaving Chicago, Darcy has found herself in Flordia with a new job opportunity. Pippa, still living in Chicago and dealing with the aftermath of what happened, seems to be digging herself (and her family) into an even bigger hole.

The story is unrealistic and nothing like a usual Daniel Hurst book. Very slow build with a rushed ending. Left on a cliffhanger for a third installment.

Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture, and Daniel Hurst for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Woah! This series is really hotting up!! Another book that ends on a. cliff hanger leaving the reader desperate to get their hands on the next instalment! While this is the second book in the series, I'm sure new readers would absolutely enjoy this without having read the previous title, given the skilful writing that fills us in on the backstory in a seamless and engaging manner.

This novel sees Darcy, a woman with amnesia, starting a new job as a private nurse, she only has knowledge of her former life due to having in her possession a journal that has photos of her sister and parents alongside the request to never watch the news and (for her own safety) never to return home. Darcy is savvy enough to realise that there may have been some wrongdoing on her part, though thanks to her amnesia, the specifics evade her! Meanwhile her family, back home, find that the only way to keep Darcy's secrets is to keep the body count rising!! Yikes!!

Another deliciously dark read from Daniel Hurst that has us on tenterhooks in anticipation of the book 3...

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

I was so excited to read this book, the second in "The Perfect Nurse" series by the brilliant Daniel Hurst. The first book was my favourite of Daniel's books to date, and I highly recommend you read that one first as it sets the stage for this instalment perfectly.

Sisters, Darcy and Pippa, are both nurses and following the events at the end of book one, Darcy has been forced to leave Chicago and start a new life. She has no idea why though, as all she can remember is what Pippa wrote in a notebook for her, that she reads every morning and every night.

Not everyone has forgotten though, and when someone comes looking for revenge, Pippa and her parents have to "deal" with the problem in order to protect Darcy.

I enjoyed getting to know Pippa and her family in this book, as she shared the stage with Darcy, and I was completely hooked on this binge-worthy, twisty thriller.

The ending really got me - talk about a cliffhanger, OMG! I can't say more without going into spoiler territory, I just cannot wait for book 3!

4 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Daniel Hurst and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.

2nd instalment of the Nurse series by Daniel Hurst and unfortunately was not as good as the 1st one The prefect nurse.
This one follows Darcy again the main character from the 1st book bit it's also a dual POV with Pippa who was a secondary character in the 1st book taking dual main character status in this one. It 100% continues on from the 1st book so if you haven’t read it please do so before picking this one up otherwise you will be completely lost.
I won't post the plot otherwise it's a complete spoiler alert for anyone who is thinking of starting the series.
I don't know why but I found this sequel lacking in comparison to The perfect Nurse, which was fast paced, intriguing with a good solid mystery and plot twists, this one was not any of those. I found it much slower paced and the mystery element in Darcy's POV was nowhere close to as intriguing in comparison. Pippa mainly has to deal with the fallout of the 1st book and I just found it extremely unrealistic in execution or believability of the characters. I got the impression a 15yr old wrote the sequel, it just seemed childish in depth. A lot of stuff isn't explained at all and the ending is very much rushed and left in a cliffhanger. Will there be a 3rd instalment? There could very well be, let's just hope it's better written than this book and more in keeping with the 1st book which I really enjoyed.
This is now my 4th book by this author and I've found 2 of them really enjoyable and 2 of them adequate. Will continue to read on as they are quick popcorn thrillers.
Thanks to Bookouture who provided be with a copy for review through NetGalley.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read the ARC of The Nurse's Lie in exchange for my honest review.

This is part 2 in the series of The Perfect Nurse. Although you could read this as a standalone, I highly recommend to read it after reading part 1. Part 2 was just as good, if not better, than part 1. There are secrets, drama, tension and lies throughout.

Darcy and Pippa return and the story is told from their dual points of view. The theme is how far would you go to protect your family. There were twists and turns at the end of every chapter and I was engaged throughout the entire book. The ending was a cliffhanger and I can't wait to read what comes next.

Publication day: August 1, 2024.

Perfect sequel to the first book! This summarized the first book just right. Thrills, Chills, and Twist! It has it all! I read this book in one sitting and did not put it down until I was finished!!
Once again Daniel Hurst does not dissapoint!

Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an early copy of The Nurse's Lie. This is not one of his best series, the writing is childish and too unbelievable. Darcy and Pippa are both becoming ridiculous characters. Usually when I know Daniel Hurst has a new book, I get heart palpitations, but this series is Not doing it for me at all and it looks like another one is coming. Please before you publish the next one in this series, MAKE IT LIKE YOUR OTHER BOOKS WHERE YOU DID NOT WANT TO PUT IT DOWN!

I enjoyed this book, but I wasn’t as fond of all of the repetitiveness of the same storyline from the previous book. I enjoyed the sections with Darcy in her “new life” way more than the parts with Pippa dealing with the things that previously happened. I felt like I was reading 2 separate books.
This is a fast read and it’s well written, but it just isn’t as exciting as book 1 was for me.
There is still a decent amount of thrills and suspense in this book though.
Thank you to NetGalley for an arc copy of this story!

Great read! Fast paced and I enjoyed the story line!
A lot of great twists that you don’t see coming, if your looking for a cosy thriller I would definitely recommend

Well, that was rather twisted - not necessarily twisty/turny, but just twisted. The bodies pile up quickly in this one. It felt like a Oprah Winfrey Christmas Giveaway special - you get a body, you get a body, you ALL get a body, It feels very fantastical and not realistic by any stretch of the imagination, but it sure did pass the time quickly.

The second installment in The Perfect Nurse series is told in alternating points of view from the two sisters from book one, Pippa and Darcy. Darcy is struggling with memory issues, but she has a book her sister made her with family photos and a message: Do not watch the news. Do not come home.

Darcy takes a job watching over an elderly man with dementia, but in his moments of clarity, he tells her to watch out for his son, the man who hired her in the first place.

Pippa's storyline is the constant fear of being caught from what she helped her sister do in book one. I would not recommend you read this book without reading the first one because you will be totally lost, and I also recommend that you 100% suspend disbelief and just go in expecting a good time. If you're the type that nitpicks every detail and gets upset when things aren't 'believable', you won't enjoy this book. I'm ready for book three! Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the early copy. At the time this review was written, this book was set to release on August 1, 2024.
