A super cute book for Halloween! I enjoy any cute cryptid children's book that takes some of the fear out of even the most notorious cryptids and this one was no exception. Perfect for all those creepy kids (and adults) out there.

Mothman and his cryptid pals attempt to create the OFFICIAL BESTEST HALLOWEEN EVER for the kiddos of Point Pleasant, but end up making rather a mess of things. It's a good thing kids LOVE messy things!

Stuff to remember:
1. Pumpkins can't fly.
2. There's nothing cuter than a Mothman dressed as a sprinkle donut.
AND, this is a delightful, hilarious, and adorable book.

So there!

3.5 stars - Good+

A fun, quirky story with gorgeous artwork. Backmatter introduces readers to various cryptids and announces book 3 in the series.

At Pleasant Point the children are stuck inside on the day of the pumpkin patch opening. It rains so much that Mothman, the friendly neighborhood cryptid running the pumpkin patch, comes up with a plan to get the kinds their pumpkins for carving. As one mishap after another occurs, Mothman worries that Halloween might just be canceled this year!

This little story was a cute first introduction to the different types of cryptids. It is a quick, easy read for young children. Though advanced readers may need to help with the pronunciations of the cryptid names. It was too simple for my child (who is eight) but we read it together because we love everything Halloween. Recommend for kids 3-6.

I would like to thank the Publisher for approving me for this ARC, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Mothman's Happy Cryptid Halloween is an absolute blast! This delightful addition to the series perfectly captures the fun and whimsy of the spooky season. As a cryptid enthusiast, I couldn’t have been more thrilled—Mothman is my favorite, and he shines in this festive adventure. The charming illustrations and playful storytelling make it a treat for readers of all ages. It's a fantastic way to celebrate Halloween while embracing our love for cryptids. If you’re looking for a fun, lighthearted read, this book is a must-add to your collection!

Mothman is my favorite cryptid so this review is so biased, but I loved this. My favorite customers are young kids who ask for spooky picture books, so this will be a go to recommendation for October. Super cute, and I love how this view of Mothman was good, as a Mothman apologist. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this for review!

It was a cute Halloween book. It teaches kids there are more ways than one to enjoy something. To make good out of bad. This would be a cute book for the Halloween season for kids!

I’ve been looking for scary books for early readers, since I have a friend, whose son is four and very much obsessed with everything ghoulish.

When I saw the cover of this book, I immediately wanted to read it. I must say, this book fits the “scaring is caring” saying to the millimeter.

Mothman, the once omen of death and tragedy, now owns a pumpkin farm.

When rain ruins Halloween for everyone, Mothman takes matters into his own hands, and with the help of other not-so-scary friends—Big Foot, Jersey Devil, Chupacabra and Nessie—decides to fix things for the children who couldn’t trick-or-treat.

Of course, things go sideways because monsters, even friendly ones, do not always understand people (and gravity) all that well.

I enjoyed this book very much. It has a “Nightmare Before Christmas” vibe that makes it feel homey. It also has some enjoyable LOL moments.

The illustrations fit the text perfectly and are quite fun.

An excellent choice to read to your children if you want a few laughs, but perhaps not the best option out there if you want them to fall asleep afterwards—it’s hard to quiet down and get sleepy after laughing out loud.

Absolutely enjoyed this. I would most definitely read this to any children I had or was babysitting. Great for the fall season

OMG! This was delightfully spooky story with lots of heart and a quirky character. Mothman runs a farm and is excited for the children in town to visit to trick-or-treat and pick out their pumpkins, but it rains.

Hilarity ensue when Mothman elicits the help from other cryptids to hep deliver Halloween to the children.

I giggled and laughed out loud while reading this book, definitely going to look into the others int his series and add them to our collection!

Absolutely fantastic idea for a children’s book. I will be purchasing this book for nieces and nephews (and maybe one for myself). The illustrations and typography in the book were excellent. Highly recommend.

Being a huge fan of all things Cryptid, I found I couldn't resist this one and I think it's the prefect book for the spooky season.

A cute "spoopy" picture book allowing younger readers to get into the Halloween spirit.

It's Halloween and moth man is expecting bus loads of children to come pumpkin picking at his farm, however the weather has other ideas and Halloween is a wash out. In an effort to cheer up the children mothman hatches a plan with his cryptid friends to give them a Halloween they will never forget.

I loved how bright and colourful this book was and the humour used to make mothman and friends cute and not scary. It's an adorable story from characters not often seen in children’s literature.
Thank you NetGalley and 8th circle for the arc.

This was such a heartwarming read!! I absolutely loved it so much, the illustrations were bright and eye catching, and the story itself was just wonderful. I feel like this will go such a long way in making children less afraid of the monsters <3

When the rain ruins Halloween for the local kids, Mothman & friends set out to fix it. Things don't go exactly to plan, but everyone has a great time anyway!

Mothman's Happy Cryptid Halloween is a super cute little story with adorable illustrations that Halloween loving kids and adults will both enjoy. I will now be forever obsessed with the concept of Mothman as a farmer, as well.

Many thanks to Andrew Shaffer, 8th Circle, & Netgalley for providing me with an ARC.

This book was a bit beyond my 2 1/2 year old Granddaughter. The illustrations are colourful and she was mildly engaged in the story as we looked at the characters but not as much as I would have hoped. I would recommend this for an older aged child.

We did enjoy the story but she wasn't too sure about Mothman or his cryptid friends and who they really were..

Thanks to Netgalley and Andrew Shaffer for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is a very cute and very nicely drawn halloween story that is both for fans of the cryptids and also suitable for children.
I enjoyed the style and color palette used in this little book.
The only thing I didn't really like was the ending, there seemed to be something missing.

This is such a cute book. I love the colourful illustrations. The kids will love this book. Such a fine storytelling and colourful illustrations are resonating with the story. It’s dark and delicious read.

Okay.

I was already sold because what's MORE Madeline than Mothman and Halloween? Probably nothing.

But this was so fun!! I have found in my year as a children's librarian that not all spooky children's picture books are the same in terms of quality. In fact, some of them have, for lack of a better phrase, "fan service." However! This one doesn't! It's genuinely so fun. It's Mothman & Friends meets Nightmare Before Christmas!

This is the first time I've ever read a picture book and been like: wow, this FONT is INCREDIBLE? It even had an information page about cryptids for future reading??? The illustrations were, of course, amazing too. I'm obsessed.
