I have read many of this author's books, and I have to say Every Breath You Take is my favorite thus far. There are so many excellent twists and turns and it was so well written. I thought I knew what was going to happen, but I was way off the mark. Great job to the author !!

Eva and Samuel are married with 2 children. Eva thinks their marriage is solid until Samuel doesn't come home from a night out with the guys. She is frantic thinking something awful has happened to him until she receives a text from him saying their marriage is over, he has found someone new. Soon after, Eva begins receiving instructions to complete a bucket list in order to keep Samuel alive. These requests are so absurd, her friends think she is losing her grip on reality. Her life is in turmoil. Her children are confused. Yet Eva still holds onto hope for Samuel.

Get ready for the floor to fall out from under you with this book. It was just that good. Thank you to Netgalley and Inkubator Publishing for the ARC. I greatly appreciate it and highly recommend this book. 5 stars.

"Every Breath You Take" was a very enjoyable read with a gripping and fast-paced plot filled with plenty of twists. The dual perspectives of the wife and the lover added a compelling layer of suspense, keeping me guessing until the surprising end. Given the challenging circumstances, the main character's sensible decisions set this book apart, although I found the friends' lack of support a bit disappointing. However, these minor flaws didn't detract from the overall experience. I read it in just a day and a half, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking an fun and easy read.

It does have an LGBT theme if that's something you want to avoid. It didn't bother me, but sometimes I know people like a heads-up.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this ARC.

This psychological thriller was about a wife who is given a bucket list of crazy tasks to do when her husband is kidnapped, so that he will be returned to their family safely. This was such a wild ride, I thought I had this figured out multiple times, but the twists just kept coming and my jaw was on the floor! This is the first book I've read by this author, and I am now definitely a fan of her writing.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this ARC of Every Breath You Take, in exchange for an honest review.

I have been reading this author for a while now but I have to say, the twists in Every Breath You Take got me good! I thought I knew exactly how it would all play out and I was so very wrong… well played Miranda , well played.

This is a fast paced mystery that I just could not put down. I read it in 2 sitting, needing to know what on earth would happen next. Eva thought everything as going well in her life and marriage, until her husband doesn’t come home after a night out with the boys. Next thing she knows she gets a text to say that he has met someone else and is leaving her. This is just the beginning of the drama. She is soon doing things she thought she never would, making everyone around her, including the police, believe that she is having a breakdown.

Get ready for a wild and crazy ride with this one . So good!!

Thank you to the author and Inkubator. books for my advanced copy to read. Publishes on July 14th.

Thanks to NetGalley, I was able to read an advance copy of this thriller. Twisty and engaging, it was a fun ride of a book, perfect for a light summer read. While I thought the author captured the emotional roller coaster of the main character well, especially the paranoia, I was disappointed in some of the other character choices, especially her friend circle. It's the kind of book you don't want to think to much about so that some plot holes and inconsistencies don't matter. Just go for the ride.

Eva and Samuel are a regular happy family. This all comes undone when Samuel doesn't come home after meeting a friend for a drink, he sends a text saying he has met someone else.....

Soon Eva is receiving messages from a kidnapper with instructions to complete a "bucket list", without contacting the Police, otherwise Samuel will die. The requests become more and more unhinged, and Eva starts to look like she is losing the plot, and her friends become more and more concerned.

Well written from two POV's - the wife, and the lover, the book unfolds to be a great thriller and my suspicions about the kidnapper were way off. Miranda really nails a twist and this was full of them. There was the inclusion of a back story, which I found really added to the story as a whole.

Fast paced, exciting and suspenseful - another great read.

3.5/5

If you like quick reads with a lot of shock value this is the book for you.

The book alternates between Eva’s point of view and the kidnappers point of view. There are a lot of twists and turns in the book. The ending is great.
It is hard to watch Eva be gas lit by her friends and the kidnappers insane demands. I think that’s why I gave it a 3.5 because I hate seeing the gaslighting in books especially to moms.

Overall, a quick and good read. The ending won’t disappoint.

Every Breath You Take by M. Rijks is a mystery of its finest. Full of twists and turns that had me guessing til the last page. And the end, my oh my, I never had THAT expected.
Eva is a 40 year old with the perfect life it seems. When her husband doesn't come home from work her life is about to be never the same.
A suspenseful twisty mystery, unputdownable, hanging on the edge of my seat while bingereading the book - I just had to know what happens to story and characters. My fav read in 24, I recommend the book that deserves all the stars.

Thank you netgalley, Inkubator Books and Miranda Rijks for the eArc of Every Breath You Take.

This is my first Miranda Rijks books and I'll be seeking her books out again in the future! This is a twisty psychological tale of Eva, whose husband disappears one night after a boys night out. Desperate to find out what's happening, she gets in contact with the police to report him missing. He eventually gets in touch with a text, saying that he's left her for someone else! Eva is devastated and tries to get on with her life but then receives a picture of her husband with a knife to his neck, telling her to complete a bucket list or he will die. She can't tell the police, so what will she do?

After reading the synopsis, I was interested and thought Id have the plot susses. Nope! This book is full of twists and intrigue. The pacing of the book is medium throughout and well paced with two POV. Miranda's and an unknown voice of the capture. They becomes apparent who they are in the second half of the book. and it becomes a great cat and mouse plot and I loved the ending. I really bonded with Miranda, often pausing and feeling what she would have gone through during the book.

Both POV, Miranda has built up their character's very well, getting a sense of who they really are. The characters surrounding Miranda, her friends and her children are well built and felt like a true friendship circle.

A 4.25 book rounded to 4 stars for Amazon/Goodreads/ LinkedIn

This is my second novel from Miranda and I have read so many great reviews but honestly I don’t feel the same way.
This is a story that is told in 2 points of views. One is the wife the other the lover.
I found it to be kinda boring. The lover wants the wife to do a bucket list of things to “save” her husband. But the lover has no intention of letting him go. They any you to think the wife is loosing her mind.
Yes the twist in the end is interesting but I really just don’t get it.
I don’t think that Miranda’s novels are right for me unfortunately. But I’m happy so many others enjoy them.

Name of Book: Every Breath You Take
Author: Miranda Rijks
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Publisher: Inkubator Books
Pub Date: July 14, 2024
My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Eva and Samuel have a great marriage; they have two children Riley who is thirteen and Alfie is nine- they seem to be an average happy family.
When Samuel doesn’t come home from a boys’ night out, Eva isn’t worried as she figures he is sleeping off his hangover at a friend’s house
When he's not home in the morning, she is concerned. Then receives a text from him stating that he has met someone and not sure of his feeling so will contact her in a few days as he needs to get his head together.
Eva cannot believe this!! Samuel has never hinted he was unhappy.

She soon gets a message from a kidnapper instructing her to set up .Snapchat' – also stating not to contact the police as she will be putting Samuel a well as the children at risk. Then Eve is instructed to complete a ‘bucket list’ otherwise Samuel will die. First on the list - -
 ~ change her status on FaceBook to single and then go out on the town she her friends. She does and gets very drunk. Pictures of her drunk are plastered on Social Media.
 ~ create a ‘dating app profile’.

Eva’s friends have concerns about this behavior; however Eva knows she has to do everything she has been told if she wants her husband back alive.

The story continues from the POV of ‘The Wife and “The Lover’
I read a lot of psychological thrillers and had my suspicions regarding the identity of the kidnapper/lover. Okay I was only a tad on track. I was sure the red herrings were throwing me off. Yep I was fooled as to what was really going on.

This is my eighth Miranda Rijks thriller. When I read [book: The Second Wife] my first by her, I knew then I had found a new fav author!
She is such a clever storyteller! I will read anything she writes!
I always enjoy reading the author’s note and get the inside-scoop on the motivation for the story.
In ‘A Letter From Miranda’ She tells the idea for this story came when she was clearing their attic and came across her workbooks from primary school. When she was eight-year-old she wrote a story about her ideal home and her ideal job which was being a writer. She liked the idea of ‘a bucker list’ and thought what if it wasn’t a list of things one wants to do before one dies but a list of demands.
She actually wanted to name the book “The Bucket List” however it didn’t work with the publisher.
Personally think it is a great title; there are several with this but none call the Bucket List!!

Want to thank NetGalley and Inkubator Books for this early eGalley.
Publishing Release Day Scheduled for July 14, 2024.

This would be a great summer beach read. It is a quick fast read. It kept me engaged throughout. The twist and turns kept coming. However I was disappointed with the ending where I felt that the book became rather unrealistic at the end, and jump the shark.

This is an edge of your seat read. Before you realize it, you are reading as fast as you can to find out what is going to happen, to the exclusion of everything around you.
Every Breath You Take is about a woman who receives a text from her husband saying he found someone else and wants a divorce. From there the woman’s life tumbles into chaos. It is a living nightmare and unexpected twists abound. .
The book is perfect for mystery/thriller fans but also readers who wish to delve into this genre, as it is an easy read. I think cosy readers would enjoy it, as well, since it is not focused on blood and guts.

There is an aspect of LBGTQ+ in this a story for those who do not wish to read about this topic.

I received an ARC from Incubator Books through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating or this book. I am voluntarily submitting this review and am under no obligation to do so.

Eva's husband, Samuel, send her a text saying that he has found someone else. But he took none of his belongings with him when he disappeared, and she knows that he would never leave their two children without a word. She tries to keep her children in the dark, and go on with her life, until she receives a terrifying picture of him with a knife to his neck. His kidnapper gives Eva a series of ridiculous demands that she has to fulfill in order to guarantee Samuel's safety. And she can't tell anyone why.

This book, like the author's other titles, is full of suspense and unexpected plot twists. I didn't feel that it merited 5 stars because the scenario under which Samuel disappeared was a bit too farfetched, as was the ending. But it was an enjoyable read nevertheless.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Loved it. Really easy to read I got to know the characters quite quickly so was able to keep track of what was going in. Definitely some added twists I hadn’t seen coming. Just something completely different. It’s left me wanting to read more by this author as it somehow just felt fresh.

Thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of Every Breath You Take by Miranda Rijks due to be published July 14, 2024.
This is my fourteenth book by Miranda Rijks – she is one of my favorite authors!
When Eva’s husband Samuel doesn’t come home for the night, she is very concerned. She is even more afraid when she receives a picture of Samuel being held and is asked to perform a strange “bucket list” of things to do to save Samuel. Who is holding him captured and why?
Every Breath You Take is a story like no other one I’ve read – the premise is totally new to me. Eva seems to perform all the tasks she is asked with no questions asked, afraid to go to the police. Some of the tasks are mundane, and some are pretty bizarre. The ending is quite a surprise and brings the book back full circle. Another good one by Miranda Rijks!

I just finished Miranda Rijks latest book and, once again, it's another winner! This fast paced story was filled with suspense, tension, and excitement and I finished it in just two days. The identity of the villain was revealed a bit sooner than I expected but it was a very unexpected and bold choice to make that character the guilty party. After the big reveal, I expected the book to just wind down to it's inevitable conclusion but, there was another, even more shocking, twist at the end! I don't know how Miranda Rijks manages to do it, but everyone of her books gives me such a wonderful experience and this one was no exception. I'm already looking forward to her next book!
Thank you, NetGalley, for allowing me to enjoy this ARC!

My hopes for this book were pretty high, so that may have influenced how I felt about it. The story was a little off for me, I can’t exactly pinpoint why. I supposed I just found it hard to believe a lot of it. Of course, that’s what I read these kinds of books for- most things are a little grandiose and I understand that, this one just didn’t line up right for me. I don’t want to include any spoilers, but I did find the main character to be quite naive and blind to things that most people would probably notice. I did like the book but not as much as other books that I have read by this author.
