I am disabled and have to use Kindle for the majority of my readings due to accessibility features that work best for me. Unfortunately, there must of been a glitch on NetGalleys end that put Kindle format in the additional information when I requested this read. I ended up having to use the “read aloud” feature via the Shelf app.
Charting Stars by Micheline Ryckman is a very well written and quick cozy read.
It truly oozes modern Narnia vibes! The character building in this book even with the short pages was phenomenal.

This book was an absolute delight! I'm finding it hard to express just how much I enjoyed this thrilling journey. It was the kind of story that you simply can't put down. Each page kept me hooked—I gasped, winced, and even laughed out loud. It has everything you could want: a slow-burn romance, thrilling sword fights, and daring escapes.
I felt a strong connection to Talia, the reluctant heroine who wakes up in a mysterious and unfamiliar world. Much like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Talia isn’t a natural adventurer, but she suddenly finds herself in a strange land, embarking on a quest to return home and meeting new friends along the way.
I fell in love with all the characters, especially QB. If you’ve read the graphic novel prequel, you’ll be familiar with Talia, Jarrett, and QB. Seeing Jarrett and QB pop up in this book was like watching a beloved TV series adapted from a favorite book—it felt both familiar and exciting. I was thrilled to learn more about Jarrett’s backstory, and I’m eagerly awaiting more installments in the series to explore the bond between Jarrett and his little squirrel friend, QB.
The story shifts between Talia’s and Jarrett’s perspectives, which I found refreshing. The plot unfolds naturally, and since Talia knows nothing about the world she’s in, I loved experiencing the surprises alongside her.
The characters are wonderfully crafted, each with their unique strengths and flaws. Jarrett, the other main character, is a charming mix of Aladdin and Flynn Rider—streetwise with a heart of gold. Maren is a fierce and noble warrior, Bash is the sweet and lovable type who’s sure to become a fan favorite, and Moses is just bursting with charisma and drive. Then there’s QB, Drew, Tae... I adore them all. And the author, being an artist, has included beautiful illustrations, bringing these characters vividly to life as you read.
I’m overflowing with love for this book, and this review probably reflects that scatterbrained excitement. Talia's adventure is one many of us dream about—leaving behind the modern world and stepping into a realm of forests, medieval attire, and epic quests. Her relatable nature and realistic reactions make her journey even more engaging. Some parts of the book left me smiling widely, feeling like there could be another world out there, just beyond our reach.
Micheline Ryckman poured her heart and soul into this book. Knowing the obstacles she faced to bring this story to life makes me even more appreciative and proud of her work. I’m already impatient for the next installment, eager to see what challenges and adventures await this unlikely band of friends!

First off what a GORGEOUS cover! I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but with this one it’s too stunning not too! Makes you immediately want to pick it up and see what it’s about. I’m not usually a supernatural type book reader, but this story looked to interesting not to dive into. I cannot wait to dive in and share my full thoughts and review on this love story du jour! I apologize I’m a bit behind on reviews at the moment due to an underlying health issue, but since books are the best medicine I amslowly getting there! Much more to come soon. Also very excited this is part of a series! I think this will be really popular.
