Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC of The One That I Want by Sandy Barker,

This book is the first book of the Ever After Agency series but it won’t be the last. I really enjoyed this heartwarming rom com, I thought the MCs were very lovable. I loved that the romance was based on a friendship. The story was full of scheming and miscommunication which made it a very fun and light read. I also loved the supporting characters, especially Poppy!

this BOOK is the one that i want from sandy barker!!!! 3.5 stars for a series that continues to get more nuanced and vulnerable as it continues. I absolutely loved the concept for this book + always appreciate a "he falls first". So wishing this series continues, it's so much fun to revisit and full of British-isms that bring me joy!

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC for me to review!

I enjoyed this third book in the series, but it wasn't the best one in the series.

Once again it was a story of Poppy (from the first books) going undercover and lots of lies and cover stories and attempted set-ups and dating drama, cringeworthy dates and romance.

The characters were likeable and there were some funny moments. It's a light and fun story and good to escape regular life with.

Really adorable, one of a kind, romance. I absolutely loved this plot, almost as much as i loved the mmc, Ewan <3. The plot was full of scheming and secrets and lots of funny miscommunications. I really enjoyed it. I also really like that even with a whole matchmaking process, sometimes you just meet the love of your life in a coffee shop. I definitely recommend!!

Thank you to netgalley and the author for sending me the book in exchange for an honest review

This my friends is the third book in the terrific rom-coms dating series called The Ever After Agency and it was just as good as the two first books (Match Me If You Can and Shout Out To My Ex).

The One that I Want is a great and kinda quick read especially for me since I enjoyed it already from the first page and the title. Oh my that title is just amazing and is having me singing the song from Grease every time I was thinking of it or read it.

We still get to follow Poppy, match maker, and her life (thank God) and we get to know new characters which has been delight to get to know.

The writing has been really good and there is a red line following until the book was done.
The One that I Want has had me feeling all kinds of emotions but mostly happy which I did enjoyed.

If you are a rom-com lover then this is your sign to read this book and if you haven't read the first two then please do that first so you get the whole picture (plus they are really great).

Sandy I can't wait to see what will happen next and I just want you to know I'm a huge fan of this Series if you didn't already knew that 😍.

I love this series, with its nods to romcoms in general and the humour that comes from both the events and the characters themselves. Greta is a lovely central character with a deep reserve of independence and a stubborn streak where it comes to her work. However, when we meet her, she is beginning to question some of her decisions and wonder if there could possibly be more to life than her career. Once given a writing assignment, which is a cover for a quest to find her romance, Greta soon twigs the real reason behind her latest column. Thus follows a series of disastrous dates. She takes cover from the office in a local coffee shop- a decision which will have long lasting effects.

As ever, the Ever After Agency sets about engineering the perfect circumstances for Greta to meet her match and as she goes along, she learns quite a bit about what she wants. In between the humour, there are some genuinely romantic moments. This is an endearing story which melds lively characters with events to make you smile.

In short: a friends to lovers romance

The One That I Want, is the third book in the Forever After Dating Agency Series By Sandy Barker. In this book we meet Greda who has just started her own magazine under the umbrella of the magazine company she works for and couldn’t be happier… Or could she? It seems her boss Angelee after hearing grida make a comment about her love life thinks she could. Since the dating agency use the magazine to get a previous couple together she implores them to help with Greda. The thing I love best about this series is that we get to see what’s happening with poppy and Tristan my favorite couple so far. I really liked the meat cute in the coffee shop and how they authentically became friends but I think I am so over watching all these work in London women who drink every night too much and it’s almost like the same character just a different book… I DK they say books hit us differently at different times and maybe this just wasn’t my time for this book. I was so excited to read it but once I started I still enjoyed it but was kind of a down because it almost seemed with a few changes the same old story. The best friend with the quirky name the over drinking ATC as I said it could just be me because these books are really funny in the main character isn’t going around sleeping with everyone she meets to try and find Mr. right because she wasn’t even looking for him or was she? I did like the way it ended and especially the one she ended up with but not as much as I loved the first and second book in the series.#NetGalley, #BoldwoodBooks, #SandyBarker, #TheForeverAfterAgency, #TheOneThatIWant,

“The one that I want” by Sandy Barker is a delightful romantic comedy that combines heartfelt moments with an irresistible charm. The story is about a career orientated woman that wants to find love. Her boss is determined to help her by hiring a matchmaking agency and that leads to her going on multiple dates. But finding the one was not what she expected.
Sandy Barker's narrative is infused with a vibrant energy that keeps readers engaged from start to finish. Her writing is warm and accessible, making it easy to connect with the protagonist's joys and struggles. The characters in “The one that I want” are well-crafted and relatable. The supporting characters, including the quirky and diverse array of dates, add depth and humor to the story.
The story is paced well, with a good mix of light-hearted moments and deeper, introspective scenes.
At times I felt like we were given too much of Poppy’s story with too many details. I also would’ve liked seeing more of Ewan, to know more about him.
Whether you’re looking for a light-hearted escape or a story that explores the intricacies of love and self-discovery, this book is the one.
Thank you netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book early.

Matchmaking, magazine publishing, coffee and dating disasters.
There was so much to love about this story.
I enjoyed the main characters Greta and Ewan, plus Poppy, but the side characters are a joy too, from the work colleagues, the German mum. to the best friend Tiggy.
Lots happened that I didnt expect, and I turned the last page with a very satisfied, if slighly emotional, sigh.

This story continues in the Ever After Agency world, but you don't have to have read the others in the series to understand what is going on. I might even make you go back and read the others.

If you are looking for a delightful happy ever after, this book is for you.

Review for 'The One That I Want' by Sandy Barker.

Love, LOVE, LOVED this absolutely gorgeous page turner!! An absolute must read!!!

OMG!!! I absolutely LOVED this gorgeous page turner and I cannot WAIT for the next book in this series to come out along with getting stuck in to all of Sandy's previous books!! It is just as gorgeous as the previous books in this amazing series and the rest of the books to come are just guaranteed to be stunning!! I absolutely adored the unique storyline which is hard to come by when it comes to romance books as there are so many out there but Sandy has created an absolutely gorgeous storyline which I cannot wait to continue in the next book in this series!!!! Sandy's stunning evocative writing skills really does bring the storyline, emotions and the characters to life. I absolutely adored being swept away into this fantastic feel good book and was so absorbed that on the rare moments I looked up it took me a while to realise I was in Wales at home and not in the book itself next to Greta and Poppy!! The storyline is stunning and is ram packed with friendship, romance, fun, humour and emotions and is an absolutely stunning escapism romantic read!!! This is one of those books that are very easy to read and perfect for any reading situations whether you are laying on a beach or curled up in front of a fire. It is an absolutely ideal read for anyone who is looking for a gorgeous and relaxing read that will have you hooked from beginning to end. I absolutely LOVED the realism of this storyline which made it so easy to picture everything that was going on which had been helped by Sandy's fantastic evocative writing skills.

I cannot wait to get hooked into more of Sandy's books so I hope she is busy writing her next stunner in this series while I get stuck into her previous books!! This is definitely one of those books that will turn a frown upside down and make life seem a lot brighter. Grab your copy today and fall in love with The Ever After Agency series today!!!

Well done Sandy on yet another absolutely stunning and perfect addition to an absolutely stunning series!!!

Although this is the third book in the series I would have had absolutely no problems reading it without the first book. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.

The characters were all an eclectic mix and each one of them were realistic and strong. I was completely invested in them all. It also makes them more realistic, believable and made me feel even more for them than I normally would. I absolutely loved meeting Poppy again who I first met in 'Match Me If You Can' and have met several times in the other books in this fantastic series. She is a friendly, strong, likeable woman and I loved catching up with her and finding out what she has been up to since I last seen her. I also loved our other main protagonist Greta who is the one using the agency this time and I was rooting for her throughout. There were just so many amazing characters that I loved getting to know that I could write about them all day but I don't want to bore you so I'll start to wrap it up here. Sandy's fantastic evocative writing skills ensures each of the characters come to life in front of your eyes as you turn the pages. Each of the characters are memorable and unique in their own ways and they are a group that I wont be forgetting any time soon! I cannot wait to meet them all again and I'm hoping they will (almost) all be in the next book in this series!!!

Pick up this book and get lost in this absolutely gorgeous page turner! This has got to be one the most stunning book I have read this year 💜!!!

Congratulations Sandy on yet another absolutely stunning read that I just could not put down!!!

Overall an unputdownable, gorgeous, STUNNING page turning book filled with holidays, romance, fun, laughter, friendship and so much more!! A perfectly relaxing and stunning unique read!!!!

4.5 stars
It’s been great being back with Poppy and the team at the Ever After Agency in this latest read, the third in the series from Sandy Barker.
I love how Sandy Barker’s romance stories are so much about the girl’s friendships and support network. Tiggy and Greta were wonderful friends and I loved how quickly Greta formed a bond and trust with Poppy. Poppy’s a fav character of mine and I always enjoy how she uses her Pyschology background to really understand the profiles of the dates she’s working on.
The chemistry between Ewan and Greta was visible from the start but I liked how we slowly saw this friendship and trust build between them. Spending time with Poppy and Tristan again in this book of the series has been lovely and in seeing a successful match again for Poppy, I’m hoping there will be an update for Ewan and Greta in the next instalment in the series.

I loved this book. It was wonderful!

I wasn't a big fan of the writing style of this book. The character and plot were okay, but it felt like it was written by a younger, less experienced author, and I just couldn't get into it.

The One That I Want by Sandy Barker

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blurb

Greta Davies, the features editor at a women’s magazine, is accomplished and successful. That is, in all areas except her love life.

Determined to help, Greta's boss - and friend - secretly enlists the help of the Ever After Agency, and sets out to make her dreams come true.

Work-obsessed Greta is nothing if not stubborn, so it’ll take some creative thinking, which leads to a lightbulb moment: a new column focused on dating in the city.

With date after disastrous date, things are not looking rosy for Greta. But little does Greta know, the perfect man has been there all along. Will she realise it’s more than friendship before it’s too late?

My Opinion

I went into this book not aware that it was the third book in the series and I honestly didn't notice - it can easily be read as a standalone. The previous two books are already on my want to read list and I have moved them nearer the top as this was just such a lovely read. I found The One That I Want to be a real page-turner, I was desperate to see how everything would play out.

I have now read a few books by Sandy Barker and I really enjoy the writing style. A very enjoyable book, great for reading this summer.

Rating 4/5

‘The One That I Want’ by Sandy Barker is the third book featuring the Ever After Agency and their bubbly, creative and romantic matchmaker Poppy. This time, the team are tasked with finding matches for magazine editor Greta - the twist being that she wants to write about dating disasters and won’t admit that she longs to find “The One”…

I really love how this series focuses on the agency’s different clients and their love stories while also featuring chapters from Poppy’s perspective that allow us to live in her HEA, learn about the developments in her life and stay connected to her fabulous colleagues. In this novel, main character Greta is an ambitious career woman and her doubts are incredibly relatable - as is her initial distain of dating!

Overall, this is a really fun rom com with an intriguing media setting, themes of honesty and self-confidence, and plenty of Poppy’s positivity. Giving this four stars and would recommend the series as a whole!

I received an advance Digital Review Copy of this book from the publisher Boldwood Books via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

The only part of Greta’s life where she has stumbled is her love life.
However, can she get a little help, from her friends?
I was rooting for Greta but then I thought she almost messed it all up.
Never fear, Barker knows what her readers want so alls well that ends well.

Poppy Dean is back with her matchmaking skills and Happily Ever After Agency, but when her skills are enlisted to help Greta find love, under the guise of a new article, it won’t be long before a few terrible dates make this a bigger challenge than expected.
I love that we are back with Poppy, and hearing about how her relationship is going. The newly added characters complement this series, showing strong female characters and fantastic friendships.
I highly recommend this series and author, as they hit the right spots every time.
This is the third book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone novel.
