Grace has maneuvered things exactly as she had planned. By setting things in place, Grace is now the personal assistant to Ava Green. Ava is quite successful in her career and is even up for promotion. She has a husband and two daughters, and does her best to support her husband’s dreams. This is no easy task for Ava, as her levels of stress continue to rise, especially at the office.

The question that begs to be answered is why did Grace find any way possible to become Ava’s assistant. In fact, any invested reader will no doubt wonder early on as to what the driving force is behind Grace and her determination. As things work out, Grace and Ava work quite well together, with Grace stepping in at any moment wherever Ava might need help. And, as this book is a psychological thriller by the brilliant Nicole Trope, no doubt there is something hiding beneath the surface.

I loved reading this book. When you look at the book cover and see the window, it was kind of like a metaphor to me looking in on this story. It was great fun watching the drama between Grace and Ava, getting their perspectives and looking for that expected twist that would bring everything together. And, read until the very end, because Grace’s story jut might not be finished.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

MY WORD! Hooked from the first page, this book is an amazing must-read. Now I just need to have it in audio. Highly recommend this title.

A winner from Trope.

I was a little confused between the two main characters at first, but once I got into the story that went away.

Ava has a full life as a working mother with little support from her husband. She hires a much needed assistant to help her out. There is much more to the assistant than Ava knows.

This was a quick read. It is told by the two main characters at differing times. There is also sections of letters from an unknown source. This worked well with this story. I sometimes find these type of letters too distracting from the main story but not in this case.

Even though I guessed the big twist fairly early on, that did not alter my enjoyment of the book.

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the arc.

Troubled Grace has a very colourful past and when she gets the job as the assistant for Ava we follow Grace on her quest to ensure everything in Ava’s life runs smoothly at work and also in her home life.

This was twisty and exciting and I loved the ending. All of Nicole Tropes books have been a hit for me so far.

Many thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for my gifted eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Trope has fast become one of my auto read thriller writers. I like her writing style and she knows exactly what to deliver when it comes to keeping us enthralled.

The Assistant is definitely my favourite of Trope's books to date and I let out a huge squeal of delight when I realised it was going to be a two parter! I can't wait to read things from Grace's perspective.

The book is narrated from the POV of both Ava and Grace, and cleverly interspersed with letters from an anonymous author. The pace is fast, the plot is brilliantly twisty, stakes are high and I couldn't put it down! And that one final twist totally had me blindsided. But how good was that though?

A thrillingly good, entertaining read that's definitely one to recommend.

I received an ARC of The Assistant from NetGalley. Thank you to the publisher and Nicole Trope for the opportunity to read and review this delicious thriller.

We cycle between the POV of Ava Green, a struggling working mom (and wife) who just can’t seem to find a balance between work and home; She has a stay at home husband who prioritizes himself over their two children, and spends his time drinking or pouring over canvases in the attic. The other POV we receive is that of Grace Enright, who interviews for Ava’s open assistant position.

Grace is Ava’s saving grace, literally. The two make a powerful team…and things start to come to light about what has been going on in the fringes of Ava’s life.

It was captivating and anxiety inducing to see which way this story would go, and I absolutely loved it.

She knows everything about you… but can you trust her?

I walk in to my interview with Ava Green and carefully hand over my application. It’s all made up, of course, but Ava doesn’t have to know that.

There is so much worry in her blue eyes. Her phone pings with constant messages and a small stain marks her crisp shirt. Breakfast with her two little girls before heading out to this high-flying job every morning can’t be easy.

Ava needs me, I think. More than anything.

The interview goes perfectly, because I have made myself into the perfect assistant. Now I just hope Ava never finds out why I’m really here. Not before she lets me into her home, and I meet her charming husband, and get to babysit her children.

Because I have plans for Ava. She just has to trust me…

Although I was not into the writing style and I didn't feel completely connected to the characters this was a quick read, it was a good psychological thriller

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I love reading Nicole Trope's books and this book is no exception--one of the best psychological thrillers I have read.

Ava Green interviews and hires Grace as her assistant. What Ava didn't know is that the Grace's resume was fake. Grace on the other hand as plans for Ava and soon she gets into Ava's life to the point of meeting Ava's husband and children. Grace would do anything for Ava although Ava didn't know that Grace was doing all these things for Ava.

This was an intense page turning psychological thriller. The story shifts into a past, then divides the POVs between Grace and Ava. The story is also quiet unpredictable which makes this book overall a good thriller. There was tension in the book, the ending was quiet unpredictable particularly the epilogue of the book. The writing was great overall and the author manage to get the reader into the story. There were some twists and turns in the whole story, many of them are quiet unexpected.

The Assistant is a unputdownable psychological thriller that will keep you up all night--worth 4.5 stars!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

Nicole Trope is one of my go to authors, in fact when I hear she has a new book coming out I don’t even need to read the blurb as I just know it will be a superb read. The Assistant sure was that and more, it’s a fast paced, tense and gripping read. Of course I was positive that I knew in what direction the story was going to take but never trust your instincts especially when it comes to such a brilliant author as Nicole, yes I was left open mouthed at times and one particular part had me gasping out loud . After reading the letter from Nicole at the end I was thrilled to hear there will be a sequel to this book which is fantastic.

Incredible read yet again from this author.

This book had me feeling all the feels, but the main one being shock. I didn’t expect to feel how I did by the end of it, I didn’t expect to feel
Such a strong connection and care so much about one character. And I certainly didn’t expect the little sneaky last minute plot twist that I definitely didn’t see coming.

What I thought the assistant would be, is definitely not who she was.

3.5-rounded to 4*. As many reviewers concur, you definitely go into this expecting it to go a certain way. Grace seems like the perfect candidate for an assistant to over-worked Ava, but there's definitely more than meets the eye. This story had a good flow and was easy to get into. As more and more details are disclosed about the characters' lives, I wondered if any mysteries were going to be left to uncover. It is not quite a twisty thriller in comparison to others in the genre, but the pivotal twist at the end was unexpected, for sure!
The House Across the Street seems like a good choice for the next one I'll pick up of Trope's works.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!

What a page turner! I was so engrossed in this book from the first page! What a twist. Highly recommend!!

The Assistant by Nicole Trope it’s about Ava green she is a working mom with two little girls in the house husband and although he paints it’s not often he sells one nor is it enough to sustain the family. She also has problems at work, especially with her coworker Colin who acts as if he is not her peer but her boss and even refuses to share his assistant with her while she’s waiting to hire her own. The interviewing process for Ava is exhausting that is until Grace comes in to interview and she is perfect so much so she doesn’t even give it a second thought. At first grace seems to be the answer to her prayers. Although Grace is hiding who she really is from Ava she isn’t the only one that the stressed out mom should be leery of or should she? I love Nicole trope‘s books in this book is definitely a great example as to why from the first book I read by her I have been in love with her quick writing her twisty plots and likable characters there’s something else I really love about the author but if I said it it would give it key plot point away just know any thriller fan should love this book by Nicole trope it is a great fear of mine being deceived by those we trust and or are acquainted with on a daily basis.#NetGalley, #Bookoucher, #TheAssistant, #NicoleTrope,

“The Assistant” by Nicole Trope is a thrilling 5-star read! The story revolves around Grace, who is on the lookout for work, and Ava, who is struggling to balance her demanding job with her home life. When Ava, on the brink of a major promotion, hires Grace, she’s relieved to have someone to rely on.

The story unfolds primarily through the perspectives of Grace and Ava, with a few moving chapters featuring letters addressed to “baby girl.” Trope masterfully weaves together Grace’s backstory with the present, creating a seamless and compelling plot. The story's fast pace, coupled with suspense and unexpected twists, kept me hooked from start to finish.

I’m eagerly looking forward to diving into more of Nicole Trope's work!

Thanks to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for the book #TheAssistant by #NicoleTrope. This book is so good and I never saw the twist ending coming. I cannot wait for the second book. Grace has an interview with Ava for an assistant job. Grace is perfect at this job and takes a lot of stress off of Ava. But other stressors are starting for Ava and Grace is right by her side. Why is Grace positioning herself in Ava’s life? Is Grace after something?

Wow!!! Amazing book from the start to end. I really enjoyed the letters to " baby girl". It all made sense at the end of the book with the plot twist. Nicole did a great job writing this psychological thriller. It is an easy and fun read. Every page makes you want to keep reading. It is a DUO POV and that is my favorite.
This book was fun, twisted and very interesting to read. I love my psychological thriller books. It was a well fast paced.
This was my first Nicole Trope but won’t be the last!
This story was unexpected, and I definitely had a feeling but didn’t see it unraveling until the end!
