The Assistant was a quick, easy read. Great character development with twists that held my interest and kept me guessing what these characters were up to. The final twist was totally unexpected!

This was my first book by Nicole Trope, but it will not be my last.

I would like to thank Bookouture, Nicole Trope, and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I liked this popcorn thriller! I love a good thriller that you can just sit and read in one sitting. Flip through the pages without any confusion of the story, etc.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for this ARC.

This was my first book by Nicole Trope and it certainly won’t be my last. The Assistant is a slow burn domestic thriller written from the dual point of view of Ava Green and her new assistant Grace. It hooks you from the start, keeping you guessing at what Grace's true intentions towards Ava and her family are.

I found that a lot of the characters were not particularly likeable, however, I did relate to Ava and wanted her to succeed. With Grace, there were times where I wondered if she was an unreliable narrator, which kept things interesting. I also enjoyed the parts that were written as letters addressed to “Baby girl”, these were a great way of providing extra information and a backstory.

The plot was believable and realistic, and that the tension kept building so the more I read, the more I couldn’t put it down. I kept trying to figure out the storyline, but it was clever enough that I had no idea if my guesses were correct, so I was still surprised by the twist at the end that tied everything up nicely!

Looking forward to reading more by this author.

Oh what a delightful thriller! I love Nicole Trope and this newest one by her is nothing short of fantastic. This was written so fantastically and executed so well that I couldn't put down until the very last page and even then I was so sad when it ended. I can't wait for Nicole's next book to see what she comes up with next!

A very gripping story with themes of jealousy, corruption, family conflict. It’s a dual pov that gets you hooked straight away. Ava is relatable and easy to like. Grace has a flawed past and is a very intriguing character. The story is written exceptionally well; it’s a book that is very hard to put down. The twist at the end was very unexpected but ties the whole thing together.

Many thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book- I couldn’t put it down! It was fast paced and kept my attention, and the slight ‘twist’ at the end was pretty unexpected (although looking back it might be easier for some to figure out). I would highly recommend this one!

Thank you NetGally and Bookouture for this ARC! Grab a beverage and get ready to settle in cause you won’t be able to put this down! Ava seems to have it all but at what personal cost? Up for a promotion, up against an all around jerk, 2 kids at home with a husband who hides to work on his paintings upstairs, doing bare minimum around the house and Ava is in search of an assistant at work to help her organise her office. In sweeps in Grace, gets Ava organised and becomes a confidant to her. Where did Grace come from? What is she hiding and how far will she go for her new boss? As we weave thru Ava and Graces friendship, the end comes and slaps you across the face! Wow wow wow!!!!!! As per the authors Epilogue, looks like we will be seeing Grace again…….and I can’t wait!!!! Wish I could give more stars!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC of The Assistant!

4.5 ⭐️ I have enjoyed every book of Nicole Trope’s that I have read! This one follows Ava, who works as a general manager of her company and vying for the CEO position, and Grace who she hires as her assistant. This is where it all begins and you go on a thrilling ride in book! I had so many theory’s and not one of them was correct! The twists came up until the very end!!! Highly recommend this book! It’s a great quick read that kept me engaged!

Grace is determined to be the perfect assistant to Ava and knows just what to say in the interview to get the job. Once Grace gets the job she is sure to insert herself in every aspect of Ava’s life, including cleaning Ava’s pantry! And although Grace is helping to make Ava’s life “perfect” Grace’s life is a mess. With a past that she’d like to keep secret.

The story alternates with letter that someone is writing to “baby girl”. And at first I didn’t quite get it the tie in, but it all falls together in the end.

RECOMMEND
Ah, so good. I read it in one sitting! I loved Grace and she could do no wrong to me. The pace was perfect, and the storyline had me hooked. I loved the way when it all came together at the end, I was like oh, I get it. I’ll be looking for more books by @nicoletropeauthor.

If I can't put it down and stay up way too late reading - I know it's a 5 star book!

Thank you #NetGalley for the complimentary copy of #TheAssistant in exchange for an honest review. And thank you @bookoutre for approving my request!

This is not the first book by Nicole Trope and will definitely not be the last.

Another great book by Nicole Trope. The likeable characters were just that, while it was easy to dislike the ones that needed to be disliked. Lots of unexpected twists as usual. Highly recommend

The premise for a gripping storyline marred by the weak characterisation of the main protagonists. The perpetrator of a previous offence appears to be planning a future crime although the reader is left with sketchy information on what may have occurred in the past. Obvious hints are developed into suspicious actions centred around underdeveloped characters who continually arouse annoyance and frustration for the reader rather than trepidation or fear. A melodramatic precursor to a surprising conclusion does little to offer any satisfaction other than awareness that on occasion authors develop unbelievable characters who act with a modus operandi that fails to convince on every level. A missed opportunity to develop this scenario into a gripping thriller. Many thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

The Assistant by Nicole Trope

Ava Green is married to Finn and they have two adorable girls, Hazel and Chloe. Ava is competing with her co worker Collin to become the new CEO of Barkley Education and Training but everything is just getting out of control, Ava works full time and comes home to a very messy house, Finn may be a full time stay at home dad but he is an artist that takes time out to paint so he does no house work at all. On top of all this Ava desperately needs a new office assistant, her office and desk are piled with paperwork that needs dealing with, there is hardly a vacant space anywhere.

Grace Enright is determined to be Ava’s new assistant; she has her resume ready and has bribed her referee to give Ava a glowing recommendation. When Grace first starts working for Ava she is like an angel from heaven, Grace organises the office within hours and Ava couldn’t be happier. But why does Grace want to work for Ava as an Assistant when she used to be the owner of a very profitable company. What is Grace’s ulterior motive?

I was so excited to be approved to read Nicole Trope’s latest book. I love all her books and cannot wait for the next one as soon as I finish the last one

First of all, thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this advance copy. It is past midnight, but I had to stay up to finish this book! The book is written from two points of view (which I love). The first main character is Ava, an overworked mother trying to do/have it all with little support from her husband. She’s juggling a career and her home life with two young children. Secondly, there is Grace who becomes Ava’s assistant while trying to hide a shady past. The story flowed smoothly through twists and turns with surprises along the way. The final twist caught me completely off guard, WOW! I highly recommend this book. This was my first book by Nicole Trope, but I’m off to add more to my TBR list! Loved this book!

Possible spoiler alert: Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC of Nicole Trope's new book. I believe I have read almost all of this author's works and always look forward to seeing a new title coming out. This book wasn't honestly my favorite but it was a good quick read. The book follows Ava and Grace and how their lives begin to intertwine after Grace becomes Ava's assistant. We know that Grace did something terrible and was institutionalized for some time. Her daughter will not speak to her and we later find out her husband is dead and the way he died implicates Grace. We don't know why Grace applies for the job as Ava's assistant and what her motives are to help Ava in her marriage and her pursuit of the CEO position at her job until the end of the book. Ava herself is a bit of a mess with two young daughters and a husband who may or may not be cheating on her and who is an artist with what seems like little desire to do much but live off of his wife. When it all came together at the end it was a good wrap up to the story. I would recommend as I do all this author's books.

"The Assistant" by Nicole Trope is a riveting novel that centers around Grace and Ava, two women whose lives become intricately entwined. Grace, with a troubled past marked by poor choices, seeks redemption and a fresh start by taking on a new role as an assistant. Her new employer, Ava Green, is grappling with the pressures of her professional and personal life. As a wife and mother vying for a CEO position against a male colleague, Ava feels the weight of her responsibilities, compounded by a husband who contributes little to maintaining their household.

Ava hires Grace, believing her to be the perfect candidate. However, Grace's resume is falsified, and her motives for joining Ava's household are deeply personal. The story delves into themes of lies, jealousy, family, and corruption, weaving a suspenseful and engaging narrative.

The novel is masterfully written, with chapters alternating between Grace and Ava's perspectives, creating a tense and gripping atmosphere. The ending is particularly mind-blowing, with a twist that is both unexpected and satisfying.

What stands out most about "The Assistant" is its ability to keep the reader hooked from the very beginning. The pacing is impeccable, ensuring there is never a dull moment, making it an ideal book to devour in one sitting. Grace's character, despite her flawed past, remains relatable and compelling, and her journey of redemption is both heartfelt and inspiring.

This book is perfect for readers looking for a quick, easy, and thrilling read. With its well-crafted plot and complex characters, "The Assistant" is a testament to Nicole Trope's storytelling prowess.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing this advanced digital reader's copy in exchange for my honest review. "The Assistant" is set to be released on August 12, 2014, and it is definitely a 5-star read that should not be missed.

I would like to start by thanking Netgalley and the Author for allowing me to read this book in advanced.

The Assistant by Nicole Trope is a psychological thriller. This book had me hooked from the first Chapter. It is a dual POV from our main characters Grace and Ava , Ava is a mother who is trying to do it all , trying to be the best employee and best mother but how much can she handle when things just don’t go as planned ? Enter Grace, our assistant who is willing to do it all to help out Ava and make things easier for her but what is her ultimate goal ?

This book definitely had me wanting to keep on reading well into the late night , I felt shocked at the twists in this book. I enjoyed reading my first book by this Author and honestly will be reading her backlist. If you’re looking for a fast paced thriller that will have you wanting to read it in one sitting then look no further ! I absolutely enjoyed my time with this book!!

Ava has her hands full - juggling kids, running a home, a hopeless husband and a massive job. All while trying to get the promotion to CEO.

Grace is an assistant ready to make life easier for Ava. In more ways than one...... Grace is lying about something, but what?

The book alternates between Ava and Grace, and a diary entry to someone called "baby girl". We see glimpses of Grace's past and Ava's struggles with her colleagues and family. I thought Ava was really relatable and the story was well paced and interesting. It was the right balance of incredibly normal lives with dark undertones - that even the most boring of families can have terrible things happen.

It had so much drama and it kept coming - scandals, affairs, deaths, glamourous lives turned upside down. A really gripping read.

The ending was fantastic, I did not see it coming at all and thought it wrapped the story up nicely, while leaving room for a sequel (please!!).
