This is my first book from this author and now she is on my favourite list of authors.
I did not think much when i started reading this book but the ending was really good and it gave me answers to all the questions.
The Assistant is based on 2 women Ava and Grace, who is general manager and the assistant. Grace’s story is really sad and when you come to know the reason as to why she works as Assistant to Ava will really make you fall in love with her character.
I would also like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me this opportunity to read this ARC in return for an honest review.
This was my first time reading a book by Nicole Trope and let me say it was soo good! It held my attention from the start. I enjoyed all the small twists through the story but the big twist at the end was the best!! I definitely didn’t see that coming at all. I definitely enjoyed this book and will be reading more from this author! If you’re looking for a fast paced thriller that you won’t be able to put down, then this one is definitely the one for you! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this Arc!! #TheAssistant #NetGalley #Arc
3.5 stars! I loved Grace’s character throughout the entire book. I loved all the small twists and turns and the big twist at the end threw me for a loop. But I do think the ending fell flat for me compared to what I was expecting for an ending.
The Assistant was a fast paced & exciting read from start to finish. It follows two POVs - the first being Ava who is a career driven woman in her thirties that is doing her best to push though handing both work and her family life, and the second being Grace who starts working as Ava's new assistant with questionable motives.
One thing I loved about this story was how intriguing Grace was - the entire story I could not stop thinking about why she is so drawn to Ava and what her intentions and motives are. I love it when a thriller has me truly guessing the entire time. While none of the smaller twists that came up during the middle of the story were extremely surprising, the final twist had my jaw dropped. It was something that I had not considered, and really wrapped up the entire story so nicely.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC copy in exchange for an honest review!
Wow! What a story! Absolutely loved everything about this book from the characters, secrets and thrills. I thought I had figured out what was happening, but boy, was I wrong. Highly recommend!
An absolute page turner of a book from Nicole Trope. A brilliant story. I couldn't put it down. I've reccomended this to all my friends
This reminded me to the first time I read Freida McFadden in a very good way! I've never read Trope before and it amazed in the same way Freida did for the first time. The book has action from the beginning, and you instantly get engaged with the story as you want to know what will happen to the characters and what they hide. Chapters aren't to long and you're almost finished without noticing. I really liked the plot at the end, which I actually wasn't expecting but made a lot of sense. Good thriller!
Sadly, although well written, I found this book incredibly dull. Nothing really happens, there's no sense of threat. And the reveal at the end was obvious within the first 20% of the book. So sorry. Not for me.
Ava is an overworked mother in her mid-thirties. She’s trying hard to advance in her career and care for two young girls with little support from her husband. Meanwhile, there is Grace, in her early fifties, masquerading as Ava’s assistant while hiding her shady past. Something sinister is going on in the office, but what is it?
I have come to enjoy Nicole Trope’s book. This one is no exception. I enjoyed the switching of points of view between Grace and Ava throughout the story. Throughout the story, I was curious about Grace’s intentions and wondered where it was all going. I found myself needing to keep reading to find out what was going on. There are several small twists and one big twist at the end. The final twist shocked me, and I am not easily shocked since I read so many thrillers. Trope revealed in the author’s note that there will be a follow-up story with Grace as a main character. I cannot wait to read it! I highly recommend this one to anyone that enjoys thrillers! I give it 4/5 stars.
OMG, this was such an amazing book. I love a good physiological thriller and this one just ticked all the right boxes. From the starting the book kept me hooked and i love how the whole plot was built. I absolutely Loved Ava's character and you can actually relate to everything she is going through and and feel her exhaustion off the pages. The story was so gripping it was hard for me to keep it down. The twists and turns were amazing and and the ending was literally mind-blowing.
This was my first book by this author, but i am absolutely in love with her writing style wnd will be adding more of her books in my TBR .
I would definitely recommend this book if you love a good domestic thriller.
Nicole Trope is one of my go-to authors for domestic thrillers. Each time she releases a new book, I always want to get my hands on it! I am so glad I was able to read an ARC of this novel. I almost always absolutely fly through Nicole's books and this time was no different. You know a book has captured your attention when you are already halfway done reading it in the first sitting. I appreciated the uniqueness of the plot and loved the twist in the epilogue. A mother really will do anything for her child.
This was a really good book! This is the second book I’ve read by Nicole Trope! I will definitely be reading more. I loved the twists in it and especially at the end! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC!
Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced copy!
Nicole Trope always produces an intriguing thriller and this one was great! We follow two strong women, Ava and Grace. Grace has many secrets that are shared throughout the novel but ultimately she appears to help Ava get her work life together and eventually even her home life. At first you think it is a typical office drama filled with people hooking up and a man trying to take all the power from Ava. But then we learn that there is more to the story, even at her home life which Grace ever so gently inserts herself into. I kept thinking I had it figured out, but it would twist and turn up until the very end!
Another brilliant book from this author well written with great characters that held my interest all the way.
Storytelling at its best with a great surprising ending, I just loved it and have no hesitation in recommending.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.
Nicole Trope has become an auto-read for me!
The two POVs of this book are Ava and Grace. Ava is a mom, career-woman, and wife and feels that she’s drowning on all fronts. Grace had her time in the business spotlight but, in a turn of events, lost it all. Grace is now Ava’s assistant and things will be so much better for everyone…right?
This one will keep you on your toes! Don’t miss out!
Thank you to Nicole Trope, NetGalley, and Bookouture for this ARC!
This was a solid 4/4.5 ⭐️ read for me throughout, but the ending pushed it over the threshold to 5 ⭐️ for SURE. I was absolutely blown away and did not see that twist coming 🤯
I have read one of Nicole Trope’s books before and been thoroughly impressed, and this one was even better. I never knew which direction the story would take and I devoured it in one sitting 👏🏼
The Assistant was a quick, easy read. Great character development with twists that held my interest and kept me guessing what these characters were up to. The final twist was totally unexpected!
This was my first book by Nicole Trope, but it will not be my last.
I would like to thank Bookouture, Nicole Trope, and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I liked this popcorn thriller! I love a good thriller that you can just sit and read in one sitting. Flip through the pages without any confusion of the story, etc.
Wow, this book is so good, I couldn't put it down and it kept me reading way into the night. I liked the two main characters and the ending was omg and so unexpected. This book is an easy 5 stars and I highly recommend it. Look forward to the next book by Nicole Trope.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for this ARC.
This was my first book by Nicole Trope and it certainly won’t be my last. The Assistant is a slow burn domestic thriller written from the dual point of view of Ava Green and her new assistant Grace. It hooks you from the start, keeping you guessing at what Grace's true intentions towards Ava and her family are.
I found that a lot of the characters were not particularly likeable, however, I did relate to Ava and wanted her to succeed. With Grace, there were times where I wondered if she was an unreliable narrator, which kept things interesting. I also enjoyed the parts that were written as letters addressed to “Baby girl”, these were a great way of providing extra information and a backstory.
The plot was believable and realistic, and that the tension kept building so the more I read, the more I couldn’t put it down. I kept trying to figure out the storyline, but it was clever enough that I had no idea if my guesses were correct, so I was still surprised by the twist at the end that tied everything up nicely!
Looking forward to reading more by this author.
