Meet the Maliks - Twin detectives - The emerald emergency (book 3)
By Zanib Mian (author), Kyan Cheng (illustrator)

I am a firm favourite of the wonderful Omar series, so how have I missed these two gorgeous twins & their adventures?
Meet Maysa and Musa Malik - twins but total opposites. Although together they are an unstoppable team, especially when trying to solve a mystery!

Picture the scene; a very busy mosque, full of stalls, fabulous tasty food, an author visit and people enjoying the event from the community.
But when Maysa is asked to keep a priceless emerald ring super safe during wudu, what’s to go wrong? Yep you guessed it - it goes missing!

However to add to the drama, Maysa also has to cover up one of her lies. Told by mistake but having not owned up, this then lands her mum in a lot of trouble too!

Can Maysa and Musa save both the ring and their mum's reputation?

A page turner from the start, ideal for early chapter readers aged 6+ or a class read.
This new series from Zanib Mian is full of humour, loyalty and facing your mistakes head on! As with Planet Omar, Zanib Mian educates and represents her readers - priceless.

First time we read the Maliks.
The characterisation is well done. The twins personalities are well reflected in the story.
The designs, the typeface and the illustrations make it very engaging for a neurodivergent reader. Quite many books targeted at 8-12 are long and not engaging enough, whereas The Emerald Emergency had a good pacing and balance between words, bigger fonts and illustrations.
5 star read for young readers.
4 star read for older readers.

these capers are always a lot of fun! The twins are never on the lookout for a mystery to solve, but they always have one to solve haha. This time it’s a favourite author and a precious ring! There’s loads of learning in here too. I love the illustrations throughout!
