**Book Review: *The Devil You Know* by Ali Vali**
Ali Vali's *The Devil You Know* offers a compelling continuation of the saga surrounding Cain Casey, a character who effortlessly blends the roles of devoted family woman and formidable crime boss. Vali's masterful storytelling shines as she navigates the intricate web of familial love, loyalty, and ruthless determination.
Vali skillfully portrays the tension and stakes through Cain and Emma's uneasy alliance with the local federal authorities. Their common goal of rooting out the rogue agents is complicated by differing endgames. For Cain, eliminating the threats permanently is the only acceptable solution, a stance that propels the narrative with a sense of relentless urgency.
Vali's writing is engaging and vivid, bringing to life the fierce loyalty and the brutal world in which Cain operates. The familial interactions, particularly between Cain and Emma, provide a tender counterpoint to the darker elements of the story, highlighting the humanity at the core of the characters.
*The Devil You Know* is a gripping tale of power, love, and vengeance. Ali Vali deftly balances the domestic and the dangerous, making for a read that is both thrilling and deeply emotional. Fans of the series will find themselves once again drawn into Cain Casey's world, rooting for her as she battles against overwhelming odds to protect what she holds dear.

The way I commit myself to book series is crazy sometimes. Yes, I didn't know about this series until last year but when I did, I just binge-read it because it was really good. This book is still intriguing, yes, I couldn't put it down. But I have to admit, there is something stagnant that happens to almost all book series, they start to feel slightly repetitive. My love for Cain Casey though is absolute so I will forego all that but I want what we had during Book 1, 2 and 3, that stuff was absolutely intoxicating.
There were good parts in this book, but there are just too many other characters and which I have to admit don't interest me much. Like Nicola and Marisol are so not intriguing. I am more interested in Cain and her family and how she handles her enemies and in those first 3 books had her so fine, I was in love. And having the same problem for like 3 books and the time between each publication is just so long.
I am waiting for the moment when Cain will starting fighting the Feds with media. There was a slight of that happening because Dylan is crazy but yeah I guess we will have to wait for book 9. And a time jump because I want to see Hayden doing something.

Cain Casey is finally back in another riveting story. Cain is trying to keep everyone safe while Emma is trying to keep Cain from another beating from the FBI. Theyโre both going to dropthe ball.
Weโve got the FBI, the Russians and those crazy lone agents on Cains tail. While Cain is still trying to find out where young Lucy is. How does a 5year just disappear?
This series is such a page turner you canโt put down and canโt wait for the next one.
Donโt miss this. If you donโt know Cain Casey start from the beginning. YOU. WILL. NOT. BE. DISAPPOINTED.
Highly recommend this. โค๏ธ
Thank you #netgalley #boldstrokesbooks #caincaseyseries #mobsters for this ARC.
Ali Vali hits another one out of the park! Fantastic book! Cain is back with her family and friends. In this book, there is a lot more action, and it's refreshing to see some of the dangers of being a mob boss depicted. I was surprised by the plot twist of Lucy's new home, but it's great that she found a safe place to grow up. Emma finally gets her hands dirty, and Muriel ends up in a great place, showing wonderful character development arcs. If you haven't read the other books, you'll still find this an easy book to pick up and enjoy.
As usual Ali has not disappointed with her new Cain Casey book. Cain is asked by Annabelle Hicks to help root out a rogue FBI faction who are tryimg to bring down Cain any way they can.
Cain also has to contend with pushback from Russians with whom she had previous dealings. We also meet again Abigail and Finlay (from Hell Fire) who are hiding out from Abigail's russian gangster ex wife. The usual friends and family are all included and make up part of the story.
I was looking forward to this book coming out and am well pleased with it.
I enjoyed this sapphic mobster book. Cain and Emma were easily likable. Their commitment to family and deep love for each other is the thread running through this story. When Cain gets shot, Emma comes into her own with passionate protection of her wife. As other members of the family are attacked they try to figure out who is ordering these attacks. Is it the Russian mob, someone out for revenge, the FBI? The author takes us on a ride, leading us this way and that as we try to figure out the answer.
This being the 8th book in the series, I would suggest reading the previous ones first. That said, the author does a good job of giving us enough information to know the characters involved.
Thank you NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for the arc. I leave this review voluntarily.
I love this series about the Casey family. Maybe all mobsters arenโt all bad. After Cain is shot, Emma hands out the punishment as they try to figure who is shooting members of the family.
