This was a very propulsive read. The narrative was an intricate and thrilling exploration of family, guilt, love and violence. I really enjoyed learning more about the realities of the cartels in Mexico and how they are deeply interwoven into the structures of society and the family. Whilst some of the characters were less rounded, for example Nando who remained mostly on the periphery, the female characters in particular were excellent embodiments of the struggle between duty and desire. Well worth a read!

Life isn't easy when you're born into a cartel, especially if you want out. What are you willing to sacrifice? Who are you going to trust? Family seems to be the strongest bond, but family is keeping you from leading a different life.
This was an interesting and quick read. I really enjoyed this different point of view.

This is an interesting, enjoyable, well written thriller set in South America and Mexico and featuring Mexican cartels. I liked some of the characters, especially Sofia, others not so much! The pacing was intriguing and steady throughout with the plotting keeping me interested until the ending. A good insight into the cartels, drugs and family tensions. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
