This was so helpful in writing my first ARC review! Thank you for putting this together. It was easy to download, though I had to open it in my kindle app because the NetGalley reader would not open.

I am just getting started with NetGalley, and this toolkit helped me understand the expectations of the community and how to get started successfully. The section offering tips on writing reviews and how to DNF were particularly helpful for me, as I have written book reviews before, but for academic journals, not for public consumption. I look forward to checking out the Social Media Handbook, which is linked in the toolkit, to potentially share book reviews on social media as well! This toolkit is worth a read for anyone looking to get started with NetGalley.

This is a super helpful and free guide for new NetGalley users.
I found this to provide great information on how to set up and maintain a strong profile and how to request and review books.
Thank you for the resource!

Super helpful! Gave me a lot of clarity! Will be rereading it in future. I am glad that Netgalley has such helpful guides for the beginners like me.

This was a great user guide on how to complete reviews and provide feedback. Outlining steps on helping reviewers navigate the NetGalley landscape and providing tips on writing reviews that are useful and impactful. This really helped me start out as a new NetGalley reviewer.

Such a valuable resource, both for beginners and longtime users. I find the website to be inherently user-friendly, but I still learned a lot from this Toolkit! NetGalley continues to show how much they care about reviewers' experiences and ensuring the relationship is mutually beneficial.

If you’re looking to make the most of your NetGalley experience, the NetGalley Book Advocate Toolkit is a must-read! This guide is packed with helpful tips on optimizing your profile, increasing your chances of ARC approvals, and finding books that truly interest you. I found the advice so valuable that I even stopped reading at times to implement tips on the spot! Whether you’re new to NetGalley or a seasoned reviewer, this resource will help you navigate the platform more effectively. Highly recommend for any book advocate!

I've been on NetGalley for over a year and learned some great tips in this short read. Download it if you are on the fence! Great information.

Another great resource from NetGalley! I'm so glad I found this in my early NetGalley journey, as it's packed with useful tips and tricks. Like the social media kit, it's written in a beginner-friendly, non-patronising way which I love, and split into clear sections to avoid overwhelm.
Even though I'd discovered a lot of the features it mentioned myself by just exploring NetGalley, there were still a few things I wasn't sure of (such as what the dashboard is for), I also really liked that this guide supports completely honest reviews.. I think sometimes there's this stigma that readers only get access to ARCs in exchange for a glowing, positive, 5-star review (I myself had that belief not long ago), but I like how the guide addresses how to approach reviews that might not be 100% positive, and how to still share constructive feedback, which is just as (if not MORE) valuable to publishers.
I'd recommend this guide to anyone like me who's new to NetGalley.

Easy-to-read, concise and helpful for new members of NetGalley. I have been reviewing books for about a year, and I still found some helpful tips.

Thank you Netgalley for the resources! These toolkits and handbooks are so helpful. Thanks for the hard work you put into these guides!

I had read the previous version of the Book Advocate Toolkit and reading this new edition was an excellent refresher. It was also an opportunity to follow some of the advice and update my profile for example.
We are Bookish have done a brilliant job with this guide. It is extremely useful, well presented and full of additional resources that are very helpful. All the links work and point to the right places. It is just a pleasure to read it and a big thank you to We are Bookish for sharing these valuable tips.

Useful info to help with getting started on NetGalley. Wish I’d read before I started selecting titles as then I’d have known about the feedback ratio, etc.

A helpful starter kit if you are new to this website, with tips for writing a good review and making yourself appealing to the publishers.

Very helpful guide, concise and well-organized. I do wish they included the review disclaimer text in this toolkit, as I had to dig in the website for that. However, that is basically my only issue with this guide toolkit!

Gives clear tools and instructions to book advocates and helps readers plan their reviews. Concise and easy to follow.

As a new member of NetGalley, I was excited to check out this helpful guide! A quick and easy read, the Book Advocate Toolkit gave some really handy tips about how to best work within the NetGalley network, its books, and publishers. I loved the graphics and color pops - they made something that could have come across as pretty dry much more interesting and visually appealing.
Thanks to We Are Bookish and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book!
5 stars

NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit by We Are Bookish was very helpful to me as a new NetGalley member. I learned a lot of useful tips regarding navigating the website, how to write good reviews, and much more. I found it very helpful! I recommend this Toolkit to any new NetGalley members or members who might need a refresher on certain topics.
One thing I feel could be improved is the ability to click links from the NetGalley Reader. This is most likely a NetGalley interface issue rather than the Toolkit itself. Links can only be accessed when you download the book. Otherwise, I am very pleased with how well-written and descriptive this book is, and I cannot wait to continue becoming more proficient at being a book reviewer for NetGalley!

This short publication is full of valuable tips and tricks to get started as a NetGalley reader and reviewer. With engaging graphics and links to additional resources, it is wonderful guide for everything from navigating the site and app to actually writing reviews. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to be a successful reviewer here, and many tips are useful for reviewing on other platforms as well!
Thank you, NetGalley, for providing this excellent resource.

As someone who just joined NetGalley, I’m really glad this little guide exists. It’s got great tips on what you can do to make your profile look better to publishers and even gives you tips on how to approach writing critical reviews, which is always difficult for me. I’ll probably be referencing this guide quite often in my first few months. Thank you for providing this for users!
