I found the netgalley book advocate toolkit extremely helpful! I was able to write a more suitable bio, and updated my profile to reflect my interests and where I share my reviews.
I love this updated version of the NetGalley toolkit! It's clear, gives strong examples to follow and to inspire reviewers, and provides tips for each step of the book advocate workflow.
I highly recommend this toolkit for new reviewers or to folks who are looking to optimize their advocacy through NetGalley.
I'm excited to see that you're also putting together a social media toolkit, and I look forward to accessing it when it's available.
Netgalley's Book Advocate Toolkit is a wonderful resource for anyone that wants to start utilizing NetGalley and get into book reviewing. It provides excellent tips and tricks for the entire process, starting with creating your profile, informing you about feedback ratios, and giving advice on the formatting of your reviews. There are even links embedded throughout the toolkit in case you want more information on a certain topic - which I found really helpful. I will definitely be going back to this toolkit whenever I post a review whether it be as a refresher or a guide to compare against.
This was insightful. I just have to remember that I can’t keep my reviews to vaugue, but I was to keep them short but sweet you know. No spoilers.
NetGalley has provided a great little summary packet with tips and help for those just getting started with NetGalley and also those of us who have been doing it for a little while now. I found this super easy to read and very useful - especially the sections on the dreaded Feedback Ratio, and how to improve it, as well as the tips on how to structure feedback for a better written review. I will likely keep going back to this again and again!
This book contains some really helpful ideas. As someone who has only being reviewing on Netgalley in 2024, I wish this book was required reading when you accept your first Netgalley review book. It helps you with tips and tricks such as how to enhance your profile to how to avoid common reviewed pitfalls. For as long as I review books, I will keep this toolkit on my keeper shelf to refer to because I need to remember as the book points out to update my profile.
This is well worth the time to read this book and will be worth keeping and referring to it from time to time.
Really good tool for feedback. Gives great advice on wording, length, and details for writing your reviews on netgalley and other review sites. The layout of the guide is perfect and easy to navigate.
A very helpful and informative guide to NetGalley. Perfect for new users and as a refresher! Definitely worth a read.
This toolkit by We Are Bookish is a great reference tool for writing reviews, obtaining books, and managing lists.
This toolkit was a joy to read! Very easy to navigate and so helpful. I've made a few tweaks to my profile and settings as a result.
Thank you We Are Bookish and NetGalley.
Very helpful for NetGalley users, adequately explains the different functions and expectations within the NetGalley website and app.
Being on NetGalley can be confusing and somewhat intimidating, and I wish I had this when I first started. But, I have it now, and it's definitely helped me re-evaluate how I participate on NetGalley as a reader/reviewer and general lover of books.
It really does simplify the process of introducing yourself to publishers and making a compelling argument as to why you should be chosen to review their releases.
A must-read for everyone who joins NetGalley!
Very helpful guide that gives a thorough breakdown of being a book reviewer on Netgalley. The Advocate toolkit tells you how books are accepted, ways to spruce up your profile and ways to spruce up your reviews to help more attract more readers and assist the publisher in making improvements (if needed) with the authors book prior to the release date.
Downloaded for review tips and profile tips. Seems useful so far and will be implementing some of the tips as soon as possible
This is a nice toolkit for anyone who interacts with NetGalley and/or the NetGalley bookshelf app to request, read, and review books. It offers plenty of tips on how to use the tools, how to write reviews that will be noticed, how to write critical reviews or handle the dreaded DNF (Did Not Finish) situation.
Thanks for putting this together! This updated version is not available on Goodreads so I cannot review it there. Since this is a user toolkit specific to NetGalley, that makes sense.
This was super helpful to know what is expected on netgalley and included great tips!
I will definitely be providing clearer feedback more in line with recommendations from this guide.
This was a helpful and concise guide to help me start my journey of reviewing and recommending books. I was unaware of this toolkit when I was first introduced to the NetGalley system via an author I supported in an advance book release campaign. I made a lot of rookie mistakes that could have been avoided. Therefore, I recommend that this be provided to all new users of NetGalley upon their first login. There seem to be a few links that are no longer working right now, but it looks like there may be some subsequent releases with additional content specific to social media. Overall, this is a must-read for anyone on the NetGalley platform. The less-than-perfect rating is due to not being targeted to platform users as effectively as iI think it could have been.
Loved the updated guide and already looking forward to the new one on Social Media! Thank you for putting this guide together!
A really excellent update to the toolkit - some fab information here on how to make your profile the best it can be.
