Very helpful, and I love that it's constantly updated! Thanks NetGalley for always looking out for us.
The NetGalley book advocate toolkit was a really informative read.
Whether you are new to NetGalley, or have been a member for years it gives a good insight into what a publisher will be looking for, tips to improve your profile and reviews.
I'm really glad I downloaded this - I am looking to get more serious with my reviews so this was such an important read for me
I love the new update, there are lots of new hints and times to using NetGalley. Thank you, I will definitely make use of this toolkit.
Always a useful tool for getting the best out of my experience on NetGalley. Thanks for the latest tips!
This was a neat idea to put together this summer. I did have some problems with trying to keep up with it as I printed everything out, and then misplaced the papers. I am excited to see if this will be something new every year or was it just a one time fun thing for us readers to enjoy.
I read the NetGalley Book Advocate Toolkit when it came out in 2022, but then got an email to say it had been updated, so downloaded the latest version. I think this would be an invaluable guide for someone starting out on their NetGalley adventure, but I didn’t find much that was new - some links to the Wearebookish site with various articles that I had already read. It’s 31 pages so didn’t take long though, and gets me one step closer to the 500 review badge!
What I was really hoping for was answers to some of the trickier NG questions:
what do you do when Amazon ban you and remove all your reviews for breaching their wide ranging “community guidelines”
Why are all the books I want to request Wish For It only - and will I ever get a Wish granted?
When will there be a dedicated NG site for Australasia that doesn’t exclude us from all the good stuff?
Please explain how to use hashtags in a way that Gen Xers can understand
And why don’t I get orange pencils anymore when I used to get loads!
I'm now four years in with NetGalley and I'm STILL learning things. I appreciated the sandwich reminder and truly believe it's helpful to newbies and also to more seasoned reviewers.
I have a friend who is a writer and she let me know I was telling too much about the plot. She said "If you're going to mention everything that happened in a book, why would the reader be bothered to read the book??" She's so right - and that is something I still have to remind myself of!
I hope Netgalley will continue to update their Book Advocate Toolkit from time to time. Everyone can use reminders and helpful tips! Thank you.
This revised edition of NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit by We Are Bookish is the perfect read for both new and experience Netgalley users. It covers everything from how to get set up, your profile, feedback ratio and how to write a review.
I found this to be extremely useful in understanding exactly how the different aspects of my profile impact how it's seen by publishers. I'll be sure to continue referring to this guide and highly recommend it to all reviewers and other users on Netgalley.
Illistrauded FAQ, and instructions... yes please! There is so much to learn when using NetGalley and this is a very easy quick to review of the need to know highlights
A really useful guide!
I found it interesting and the tips inside are easy to use for your own profile!
Just what I needed to be a better reviewer! The helpful tips and tools, I think this is a must read.
Highly recommend this book.
Thank you NetGalley for providing this resource! I found all the tips and suggestions to be very helpful!
I love this toolkit! I think it's a great resource for all reviewers to better understand Netgalley and how to write reviews. I highly recommend this resource for those who are interested in becoming a reviewer for Netgalley or for those looking for a quick refresher on reviews and requests!
Lots of very helpful information. All the information I was looking for is very easy to access and understand.
This was a great resource to have at my fingertips! Of course, I read it when I joined Netgalley last year. However, this updated version contains additional, new information. It was so helpful to re-read it now knowing better how Netgalley works after having been a member for a while. Things make more sense than when I initially read it and it also reminded me of some important points I had forgotten. Thank you for sharing this with us readers, Netgalley!
This is a great idea, lots of help for how to get your thoughts together and out there. Advice is needed like this as so many people find it either hard to articulate their impressions of a book or to reach an audience. Its important to say what you liked about a book, or didnt like and consider different elemenst of the book and then consider the different ways of getting the word out to encourage others. Its helpful to have it in one place like this. Thanks
While I’m not a newbie here, I thought I’d take a look at this - and I’m so glad I did. For one, while I knew there was a NetGalley app, I hadn’t yet tried it, so if nothing else, I now have the app (very user friendly!). Otherwise, this is an informative and interactive know how for NetGalley: perfect for those that are new here but certainly will allow those who’ve been around a while to learn a thing or two! Covers everything in enough depth but also provides links to other articles that provide more intel for certain areas, e.g. critical reviews. Easy to follow (the images help), and some fab tips included to support your ARC review journey. 5 stars.
This is a great resource for new reviewers and tips and tricks for those that have been reviewing for awhile. Well laid out and easy to understand.
A good overview of NetGalley, how to use its services, and best practices as a reviewer! It's definitely handy to have all this information in one place.
Just what I needed to get started! This brief but very educational toolkit was very helpful and just what I needed to get started on my netgallery path. If you are looking for just the right tool to use, this is it! I am so excited to get started reviewing books but didn't want to read a 400 page guide to do this. I appreciated the short but concise pages with info on how to how to request books, how to write my bio, how to write a book review and examples.
