I’m new to NetGalley so I thought I’d give this toolkit a read-through to help me get the hang of using this platform and making the most of it. I’ve been reviewing books on and off for years, both professionally and as part of my own personal goal for celebrating literacy and storytelling. I love the term, ‘book advocate,’ mentioned in this guide! What an apt term for readers who review books out of a love for them.
As a guide, this felt sufficient. The bullet-point format and fun page design made this easy to go through. It was a quick read. I appreciate the links to NetGalley’s other resources as well, which had more in-depth information about how the feedback ratio worked and what publishers here are looking for when they seek out reviewers and first readers for their books.
I would’ve appreciated if the social media guide was included in this toolkit as well, since social media platforms were already mentioned here. But I can see the usefulness in having these toolkits as their own stand-alone. An overall helpful introduction to NetGalley’s platform.

A great intro and toolkit as I get started as a new reviewer. It provides wonderful tips and tricks and prepare me to provide better reviews as I look forward to new authors and new books as they come out.

This was a very good resource book. It gave a lot of information that I will be able to use in my requests and reviews from now on.

This is exactly what I needed, I had no idea what to do or how NetGalley worked but this book gave me the insight I needed to write my reviews. When I have trouble writing I still go back to this book for ideas.

This toolkit provided excellent information to fine-tune my profile! The links to external sites to provide more detailed information are appreciated as well.

This laid out what to expect, how to navigate and resources for using NetGalley in an effective and systematic way when first joining or to be more proficient. I loved that it had sample verbiage of a review and hyperlinks to additional resources.
I received a free copy of this book from We Are Bookish. I am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are my own.

Really great guide on how to approach reviewing books on NetGalley, the expectations around the content of the reviews, and even simple information like how to use NetGalley. Helpful especially for beginners, but definitely handy for anyone who hasn't used NetGalley in a while.

This toolkit has been helpful with navigating NetGalley, reminding to keep feedback ratio close to (or above) 80%, as well as various book review tips. This is helpful for anyone wanting to improve their knowledge and skills as a reviewer and book advocate.

All you need to know for getting the most out of NetGalley! I am a reader as well as an indie author, so for me the toughest question was: do I stay registered as a reviewer or switch to author. I would love to do both but as that is not possible, and right now I only have one book and a reader magnet out, I am choosing the reviewer option. This book helped me get to that answer with very simple and clear guidance. It's also a book you can turn to when other questions pop up because it's only about 35 pages and the graphics are easy to understand. Great stuff!

I enjoy these too- books from NetGalley, full of helpful information for reviewers. Keep them coming! Fun activities and the ability to make this my own is also helpful.

The Book Advocate Toolkit offers a solid introduction to reviewing and promoting books effectively. It provides clear steps for crafting reviews, engaging with publishers, and building credibility within the bookish community. The tips on NetGalley etiquette and pitching to publishers are particularly helpful for those starting out. While the content is practical, it lacks in-depth insights for experienced book advocates. Still, its professional tone and approachable design make it a worthwhile read for anyone looking to become a more impactful book reviewer.

I'm a new NetGalley member myself, and my mistake was to submit multiple ARC requests at the same time. Why it was a mistake, you ask? I got approved for all three of them. I started reading one of the books and working on my very first review. In the meantime, one of the copies was archived and was no longer available for download. Learn from my mistakes, take your time to familiarize yourself with the new system, read this book and be a good Book Advocate!

I've been on NetGalley for a little over a year and I downloaded this guide to brush up on my skillset. I recently started a Bookstagram account, so I'm hoping to take my book review game up a notch. An excellent guide to all the ins and outs of NetGalley. Whether you're a new user figuring out what it's all about or a veteran who needs a brush up this is the place to answer all your questions. The layout is eye catching and graphic making it easy to read. Articles with more in depth information are linked throughout, allowing this guide to keep to key points. This prevents it from being an overwhelming amount of information, especially for new users, while being an excellent resource to reference for anything you might need to know. A must read for all NetGalley users!

This serves as a handy get-started guide for newbies to NetGalley! The content was super accessible and easy to digest. I made use of the tips relating to constructing a bio on my profile, and can definitely envisage myself referencing this book in the future when writing reviews.

Shout-out to NetGalley for not only providing readers with hook-ups to advanced review copies, but also giving us the tools and support to be the best book community members possible!
