I found the NetGalley Book Advocate Toolkit to be an invaluable resource for both new and seasoned users of the platform. The guide is packed with helpful tips and tricks that greatly enhance your NetGalley experience. I particularly appreciated the detailed explanations on using the NetGalley Shelf app and optimizing my profile for better visibility and success in getting approved for ARCs.
The toolkit's insights into what publishers look for in reviewers were incredibly enlightening, allowing me to tailor my profile and reviews to better align with their expectations.
Overall, this toolkit is a must-read for anyone serious about improving their NetGalley experience and becoming a more effective book reviewer. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to make the most of their time on the platform.
Thank you so much to the We Are Bookish Publisher and NetGalley for giving me a copy of this!
Thank you for the copy it really helped me out in improvising my do's and don't.
It's really thoughtful of netgalley to provide one
I really wish I had this when I first signed up for NetGalley! The layout of information is eye-catching, easy to follow, and includes everything you need to know as a beginner!
Even though I've been using NetGalley for a little while, I found the guide for writing reviews helpful.
NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit is super helpful for if you're just starting to use NetGalley or maybe you just want a refresher. This is a nicely organized toolkit that really simplifies NetGalley. It starts off by telling you what NetGalley is while also helping you build your profile. Maybe you haven't updated your profile in a while and need a refresher on what to put there (ME!!) They help you out and even provide examples. It's super helpful and is very straight to the point.
I also really liked how they had a section dedicated to reviewing books. This is something I've found myself really stumbling on recently. I would constantly review books on my blog and then after taking a break during COVID, I haven't fully recovered on reviewing books. I find myself all over the place. They give you example of book reviews and even give you some dos and don'ts. Plus they had extra info that would guide you to the We Are Bookish blog where they'd discuss certain topics. It's all very organized and easy to absorb.
I'm really loving all that NetGalley is doing to help reviewers. I really should listen to their tips about not constantly requesting books. Sometimes it's nice to give yourself a break and catch up on your up and coming earcs while also going back and reading your backlist ones. Plus I love how they had a section about DNFing. It was nice for them to remind us that yes, it's okay to DNF a book. Plus, maybe you weren't feeling it in that moment but you can always go back to it. They mentioned they'll be coming out with a guide about social media. I'm really looking forward to that especially since I've been trying to get back into my bookish Instagram account.
*Thank you so much to the We Are Bookish Publisher and NetGalley for giving me a free copy of this in exchange for my honest opinion.*
The perfect starter kit for any new reviewer on NetGalley! Lots of great tips and tricks, with useful guidelines and feedback for creating a strong profile for faster approvals. Thanks NetGalley!
Super useful for those who are just starting out on the site! I lost my original account and now that I'm starting over I took the opportunity to read and remember some tips! I highly recommend it :)
This toolkit is quite perfect for both beginners in this requesting-rewieving world and members who have some experience but would like to better their profile and reviews. There are also links which directly lead to bigger pages from the We Are Bookish website with even more useful information, step by step instructions and advices for your Netgalley profile. Such a good idea to gather all this to have it on handy all the time.
Every user in here could use at least one little advice for improving their reviews and getting to know better NetGalley so I fervently recommend this kit to everyone. Don't forget to download your own Toolkit and get the best of your Netgalley account!!
Very useful guide. Helped me a lot to inderstand the feedback part of the platform. I had some issues considering I use it exclusively on my phone.
It felt like a keynote presentation, like a map with the info grouped for easy access.
Even as a seasoned Netgalley reviewers with well over 100 reviews under my belt, I still found this guide helpful. As a newcomer to Netgalley or similar sites, this book is absolute gold. Taking you through the site, the book helps you navigate the Netgalley site and create a profile that will help the right publishers find you based on what you like and where you review. Perhaps as a result of reading, you will consider other review posting options.
As a handy resource that is enough to set a newbie up in under 20 mins, and remind a seasoned reviewer of their obligations, this book is a 5 out of 5 stars. It is suited to the whole Netgalley family. It points you to newsletters you may not have known about, and helps you set up reminders. It also gives you an example review and identifies the minimal and main things they would like to hear from the readers. I always appreciate the additional resources provided by etgalley for the potential they provide for a reviewer's upskilling.

This toolkit is a helpful resource for both new and seasoned NetGalley users to learn how to best utilize the site, be a great book advocate, and understand the different functionalities within NetGalley. I am honestly amazed at how much useful information was included in such a short guide, even as someone who has been using this site since 2021. I discovered various new-to-me features, such as what happens when you upvote a book's cover. The toolkit included a great amount of external links to other resources that provided added context on the information shared, including videos and blog posts, that helped solidify my understanding of the content. I feel much more empowered and excited to use NetGalley to its fullest capacity. I've been so self-conscious about my low Feedback Ratio since I caught the request spree bug but this toolkit provided so much information that proved it is indeed feasible to improve my ratio along with tips to make sure I remain in good standing. Thank you NetGalley for putting this together! It was an invaluable read.
wow this was so useful like i really loved seeing this information in a cute and well formatted pdf. thanks!
Ive got to keep a hold of this one! Pretty easy and concise but valuable insights into reviewing properly and also helpfully
3.5 stars. I learned a few smaller things I didn't already know, but this is really most appropriate for new reviewers, or reviewers new to NetGalley.
This is a great tool and reference guide for people that give reviews and want to request ARCs on NetGalley. It's perfect because it shows you exactly how to request books and how to provide feedback. All the do's and don'ts of participating in NetGalley. I would definitely refer any of my bookish friends, that are interested in starting with NetGalley, to this Book Advocate Toolkit.
I love this expanded guide! The examples for things to include in your profile bio are super helpful, especially for a newer NetGalley user. I'm excited for the social media guide that they have coming, as that was the piece I liked most about the original guide!
