The Book Advocate ToolKit has a lot of great information included. I enjoyed the different tips and suggestions for having a successful NetGalley profile. It also gave me insight into some things that I did not already know, such as the correct way to DNF a book.
I am looking forward to using the ToolKIt as a continued reference when I am requesting and reviewing books on NetGalley. I am also excited to see what information will be included in the NetGalley Social Media ToolKit, when it is released.
This is a great guide and I immediately followed the tips to update my profile! The DNF diagram is particularly useful as DNFing is unavoidable at times. The tips for crafting a critical review is very practical and valuable too. Thank you for putting together this toolkit.
Regular readers of my posts have undoubtedly seen how often I thank NetGalley for an advance copy of a book. There are so many wonderful titles to request in a wide variety of genres. Often I see a book by a favorite author, while at others, I have the chance to discover something new. If my request for a book is approved, I will read that book. When I finish, I write a review on NetGalley and post to a variety of sites.
Sound interesting? Are you interested in learning more about NetGalley? Interested in being a reviewer? Or…are you a reviewer already and would like some tips? Either way this title is an excellent resource.
Many thanks to NetGalley for this title. All opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley for creating this Toolkit.
This is so handy to read and have as a NetGalley reviewer as it can help build one's profile to the best it can be. This is good for both new members and members who have been using NetGalley for a while as it can act as a refresher.
A must-have guide for Netgalley beginners and experts alike!
This toolkit includes tips on what to put in your profile, how to connect the NetGalley shelf app and your Kindle to Netgalley, how to navigate NetGalley, the different types of book options (read now, widget, request, wish), and much more.
NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit contains all the information required to get started on NetGalley as well as answers to frequently asked questions. I thought the information was conveyed in a very clear and concise manner and I liked that the pages weren't text heavy. The formatting was great and made this very engaging. My favourite page was the flow diagram on what to do if you DNF (do not finish) a book as this is a question I have had in the past and one I have seen time and time again in various forums.
Overall this is a great overview of NetGalley and I'm very excited to read their Social Media Toolkit when it comes out!
Thanks for this toolkit. It has been really helpful when starting up my bookstagram account. I’ve also found the tips and tricks for writing reviews really helpful. I’m looking forward to putting it into action when I write my future reviews.
This is such a useful and beautifully formatted guide to NetGalley and advocating for books - with great book review tips and information about navigating NetGalley itself! We Are Bookish create wonderful resources and I’m very excited for the Social Media Guide which is apparently coming next :)
This is the perfect tool for a new reviewer such as myself, I worried it would be blocks of text but there was actually plenty of pictures and it was very colourful which made it feel less like a lesson.
This has given me many tips for reviews including some examples and has also given me ideas to make my profile look better.
Highly recommend and I think this should be something all new reviewers read.
This toolkit is helpful for newcomers to NetGalley, offering practical guidance on profile setup, platform navigation, enhancing approval odds, and writing constructive reviews for publishers and authors. When I first saw that it had 31 pages, I feared it would be filled with dense text. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find concise and visually appealing guidelines laid out neatly. I read it in five minutes. Thanks!
I found this very helpful for what to add to my profile to bette help my chances of being approved. It's also helpful for making sure I don't go on a spree of requesting books to keep my ratio high.
I really appreciate the updated version! After going through it, I'll make sure to provide even more helpful feedback.
I'm also considering requesting more audiobooks.
NetGalley just keeps improving. <3.
I truly didn't know much about NetGalley, even after I decided to join, but going over this book advocate toolkit really helped me, like IMMENSELY! Although it does stink whenever a publisher decides not to approve my request, reading why they may not approve it makes more sense. I also know that having a higher feedback ratio helps as well, which I know I can be better at myself. I love how I can read either on my phone or my ipad, depending on what device I feel like using that day. I love the tips, tricks and tools sheet as well!
Netgalley provides helpful tips to get started! I think it’s a great guide for those getting started with netgalley. I definitely didn’t realize that as soon as you get approved your ratio is affected.
This looks the same or possibly just edited of the last Book Advocate Toolkit I downloaded. I do love this being reposted for more readers to find! Attached here is my previous review as it still stands: Thank you We Are Bookish for sharing this toolkit! some very helpful tips I wish I learned earlier on such as to avoid spree requesting! the tips for starting Bookstagram and Booktoks were interesting and insightful and if I do go forward with making a bookstagram/booktok for myself I will take these tips into consideration! Going forward I till definitely be making spoiler free reading threads on twitter while reading these arcs! that is something I wasn't aware I was allowed to do (of course unless it's meantioned not to by the publishers!)
This is wonderful resource for anyone who wants to better understand the basics of NetGalley. It is definitely something I will keep handy when I get into a review slump or when I need to spruce up my profile. I am so grateful for the ability to share these reviews with friends, online through social media, and through review sties like Goodreads. Thank you NetGalley for providing this free resource for users to better understand your site and become the best advocates for upcoming books and budding authors!
This toolkit gives an overview of Netgalley and a ton of information on how to make the most of the experience. I particularly liked how it gave concrete examples of how to write your bio and reviews based on what type of you reader you are. Super helpful resource!
This is a very thorough, comprehensive, and user-friendly beginner's guide to all aspects of NetGalley, from website and app features to tips for increasing chances of getting approved. Veteran reviewers might not have much to take away from this, but this is super helpful to anyone just starting out on the website, and I'm glad this exists!
This resource was valuable! The guide is comprehensive and easy to read, with numerous recommendations. It is highly recommended for new users or long-time members who wish to take their book advocacy to the next level. Thank you to Netgalley for providing this material.
NetGalley’s Book Advocate Toolkit is a thirty page document containing tips, tricks, and tools for reviewers on the NetGalley platform. It provides extensive information to answer the most common frequently asked questions of most new reviewers on NetGalley.
This is AMAZING!! I don’t know if I missed this when I first started on NetGalley or if it wasn’t easily accessible but I LOVE this!! It’s given me so much more information and answered so many questions I had when I first started. I love how much NetGalley out into this. It’s small but mighty and I think it will be a great tool to use for future new reviewers! Thank you so much NetGalley for providing this to me for review.
