It was a nice guide for someone who's just starting their journey on Netgalley. There are some useful suggestions that I will definitely use!

There are good tips shared about requesting and reviewing books/ audiobooks.

Requesting books/ audiobooks:
I didn’t realize you can “wish for it”and that sometimes publishers will grant your wishes. I also did not know that you can “withdraw a request.” I like the option to send books to your Kindle. Too bad there isn’t an option to send books to your Kobo.

While reading:
I didn’t know there was a text to speech and annotating feature on EPub.

Reviewing:
The bit on who you recommend the book to is good to keep in mind for the audience. This seems obvious, but I sometimes forget to do this. The toolkit gave me a reminder to comment on narration and flow when reviewing audiobooks. I sometimes forget or don’t write details on this.

Overall, NetGalley’s tool kit is 31 pages, but is simplified and easy to read/ get through.

It is concise and visually appealing, with graphic boxes containing various tips, and includes page numbers for quick reference. The FTC, NetGalley, and publisher review guidelines are condensed for easy understanding.  However, it’s worth noting that this updated version does not include social media information, which will be available in a separate resource. Lastly, the resource is a PDF that can be downloaded on your desktop.

Whether you are just starting or an experienced advocate, this resource is necessary for honing your book-reviewing skills and enhancing your NetGalley experience.

Good reference material for netgalley users getting started. As a long-time user there was not as much new information but still good reference materials for future use.

If you use Netgalley to get Advanced Review Copies of books like me, The Book Advocate Toolkit is an essential read. Publishers look at out profilers before accepting our review requests. This toolkit gives tips on how to create your profile, such as listing a few favourite authors but not wasting your time listing all of your favourite categories as that information is available on your profile anyway..
You will get advice on how to navigate Netgalley's website to get the most from it, how to write a book review and why your Feedback ratio is important.
At only 31 pages, why wouldnt you give this a quick read?

As a new member I have just started my journey on sharing my love for books online. I was so happy to get this guide. The document was honestly helpful in navigating NetGalley for me since I get anxious on public platforms online, especially when I need to share my reviews! It just doesn't provide information on the website but the toolkit also provide tips for new book reviewers like me. I loved how all the information were presented as infographics which made reading much easier and enjoyable! Thank you NetGalley for providing us newbies with the Book Advocate Toolkit. NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit is a fantastic resource. For the beginner it has valuable information about writing reviews and navigating the site. It is short and engaging. For those that are more experienced, it's a great refresher and there might be a few pearls to be gained.
