A comprehensive guide to the ins and outs of NetGalley, reviewing and posting etiquette and more! This was very helpful and I will be referring back to this in future. Thanks NetGalley!
I'm unsure if this needs a review or is even affecting my Feedback Ratio, but it was indeed helpful. A lot of the information was knowledge I had already gained through friends and social media posts regarding NetGalley. However, I didn't even think about putting summaries into my reviews in case they're crossposted on a site that doesn't have a "book blurb" readily available. There's always room to grow and I appreciate the easy-to-read handbook NetGalley created just for this.
informative and engaging. truly an appreciated guideline booklet. and the fact that its easily accessible makes it even better!!
This guide was informative. Thank you!
As someone who is new to reviewing books, it is helpful to see the process later out and explained. The tips were also helpful, for instance I learned that the NetGalley weekly checklist email reminds you on when books are published so that you can post reviews on other sure like Amazon.
This tool-kit was very helpful and informative. I’m so glad Netgalley has been providing more resources like this to help reviews!
This is a great toolkit for reviewers new to NetGalley. Included in this document are helpful tips for writing reviews and using social media for book content. I sometimes struggle with what exactly to say in my reviews; this breaks it down and explains what to do and what to stay away from. It's easy to decide a star rating but when having to explain how those stars were earned it gets a little tricky. A review should be critical of the writing of the book but shouldn't be a long rant about the author or one specific part of the book. In this toolkit, you learn how to map out a review of a book or audiobook and what to do when you did not finish a book as well.
As a new reviewer in Netgalley, I appreciate having the step-by-step information I need, laid out simply. This makes it much easier to consume and work through during the course of setting up my account in preparation of requesting books to review.
Another point I liked was the inclusion of direct links to appropriate blog posts without having to hunt down the information.
I expect I'll reference it in the future. Thanks for making it instantly available in a concise format that I didn't have to hunt for!
This toolkit definitely helped me to understand how to navigate NetGalley. I used the tips to improve my chances of being approved to get access to the media I really want to read.
Very helpful and will be kept as a reference. Lots of useful information. I’m new to reviewing so will take on board all the information I can get.
Thank you for providing this book advocate toolkit. It has been extremely helpful. I have been reading over it and will be taking and applying the tips from this to my profile and reviews.
If you’re on Netgalley, or thinking about it, this is the first book you should download and read. There are guidelines on types of members, how to take your reviews to the next level, FAQs on who approves you as a reader/reviewer, and more. There is also information on the difference between “Read Now” books and the other ones where you have to ask for approval. Keeping your Feedback Ration at 80% and above is crucial to getting approvals.
You’ll also learn how to give a review that actually works, how to tag publishers, how to use social media outlets, videos, blogs, and Goodreads. No, you don’t have to use all this, but there are guidelines for the things you do use.
Recommendation: Do yourself and the publishers a favor and read over these guidelines. I’ve been on Netgalley almost since the beginning and I learned some things I never knew. Definitely recommended.
This book was very helpful! It helped me feel more confident in my activity on NetGalley. I especially found the section on writing reviews helpful. It helped boost my confidence in posting my honest, critical reviews. The flow chart to figure out when to DNF a book was also very useful. Overall, this book is a great resource that is easy to read.
An incredibly informative and helpful guide! Thanks to the many hands that put this toolkit together. I learned tricks of the trade and reaffirmed my strategy for reviewing on various platforms.
It is not quite clear why the how-to document counts into the feedback ratio :-/
also why it should include at least 100 characters. The star rating mirrows the literary value of this opus magnus.

I have been utilizing NetGalley for a while now but this helped give insights behind NetGalley. I thankfully was able to use it to brainstorm new biography details.
A wonderful resource in helping you create the best base for being a book advocate!
This is an easy (and free) recommendation for anyone wanting to be just a little bit more bookish.
The Book Advocate Toolkit is a really helpful visual guide to navigating NetGalley's site as well as filled with tips about how to leave great reviews.
As a new user, the toolkit was invaluable as I start my book influencer journey. I especially loved the tips about how to leave good reviews when you get "review block" by sandwiching - starting with a summary and then adding deeper thoughts in the middle - this will help me craft reviews on other social platforms a well.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing this tool as it really showcases how the company wants everyone to succeed in order to do what we all love - read more and share our feedback with authors and publishers!
