Unfortunately this book wasn't my cup of tea and didn't come in the right time for me. Overall I think the writing style is ok but nothing special and I think the pacing could've been better. Other than that the blurb is really the things that are happening and sometimes the scenery was a bit too much for me. I see others enjoying it more than I probably did.

I really liked the book but it was not my favourite!
The main character was really relatable
I would read this author's work again!

I love Sally's sassy, sweet Southern books, and this is one of her best. It has a balance of humor, heart, and a little bit of a bite. I got frustrated with the MC's friends abandoning her, but I see how that was necessary for growth on her part. And I'm so glad that while there's not an HEA, there's the possibility of one.

More books in this world, please?

This book was seriously laugh out loud funny!! As I was reading it, I found myself hearing Vivian's dialog so clearly in my head because it was so relatable!

The book starts out setting the stage for a beautiful friendship between three women who meet regularly in their cul-de-sac for conversation, wine and Cheeze-Its. You quickly learn that each woman brings something different to the group and that each woman takes something different away from it. Without giving too much away, the main character's crumbling of her marriage is the subject we know this book is going to be about based on the description but what it discovered along the way are the other issues that develop with the other characters. I think the most surprising, and most joyful, one for me is the relationship between Viv and her mother.

Although this book is so relatable to women going through the changes that come with children leaving home, a long term marriage that maybe is no longer fulfilling to at least one person and sorting out the unsurmountable challenges of going back to work after being a stay at home mom for decades, it becomes a fun escape when the reader also gets to go along with Vivian on less relatable things such as her YouTube videos, travel and discovering a new potential love match.

I highly recommend this book and would love to read a follow up book to see where Vivian's life takes her after the conclusion of this book!

I loved the message in this book. The FMC deals with great shocks, but still does her best and discovers much about herself throughout the story. I liked this! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

In this novel there are a lot of important themes such as motherhood, friendship, grief and love that can made you think especially if you can relate to the female main character situation.

I’ve been devouring second chance romances lately and this is another one that I really did love! I also appreciate the older woman, younger man as this is a change for our usual story line IRL. We have all been there when we are fed up and may make a (slightly embarrassing) public display. Let’s all be Vivian and go for it though, be the person you thought you couldn’t be anymore just because you’re getting “older”. I don’t want to provide any spoilers, so read this book if you want inspiration on how to maneuver in a life full of change!

Thank you to the author, Netgalley, and the publishers for the opportunity to read this ARC!

Hilariously written, Vivian is one of those characters you would just love to be friends with or could see one of your parents being like! This was a witty, well-paced read and I adore Sally Kilpatrick's writing style.

After nearly twenty-five years of marriage Vivian is blindsidrd when her husband announced he wants a divorce. He confesses that he doesn’t love her anymore. Whilst feeling anger, frustration, and pain she posts a video online that goes viral within minutes of being online, Millions of views and counting—to Mitch’s fury, her son’s embarrassment, her mother’s support, and the media’s delight. For Vivian, it’s a moment of truth: hide or lean into it. Vivian 2.0 chooses to lean—maybe even toward the younger single father next door.

"Nobody’s Perfect" by Sally Kilpatrick is a charming and uplifting novel that skillfully blends humor, heart, and a touch of romance. Kilpatrick's engaging writing style and well-drawn characters make this book an absolute pleasure to read.

The story centers on an endearing protagonist whose imperfections and quirks make her all the more relatable and lovable. Kilpatrick excels in creating a vibrant, small-town setting where the characters’ lives intertwine in humorous and unexpected ways. The protagonist’s journey towards self-acceptance and love is filled with laugh-out-loud moments and heartfelt revelations.

Kilpatrick's narrative is both witty and tender, capturing the nuances of human relationships and personal growth with a deft hand. The dialogue is sharp and entertaining, and the plot is paced perfectly, ensuring that the reader is captivated from start to finish.

"Nobody’s Perfect" is more than just a feel-good read; it’s a celebration of the beauty found in our flaws and the joy of embracing who we truly are. Sally Kilpatrick has crafted a novel that is as entertaining as it is inspiring, making it a must-read for anyone who enjoys stories that warm the heart and uplift the spirit. Highly recommended for readers looking for a delightful escape into a world where imperfection is perfectly wonderful.

I hate to use this term, but this feels like quintessential chick-lit! Again, I hate the term but I use it with affection. Though set in the present, it gave me the same feeling I used to get when I’d read ~grown-up~ books in the library as a kid.

Vivian is a mom scout! A term she’s coined for her youtube channel, something she does as a hobby, posting instructional how-to’s for basic tasks and earning “badges”. Except now she’s getting her divorce badge.

On this journey Vivian learns a lot about herself, but also, how to be a better friend, daughter and mother. I thought her experience was a little goofy at times - the youtube channel and virality as plot devices lend themselves to that. But, i enjoyed this read and flew through it despite being in a bit of a slump!

The scenes between Vivian and her soon-to-be ex husband, Mitch, were so real and raw feeling that I had to take breaks because of how mad Mitch was making me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the eARC!

Arc Review- 3.5 Stars
This review will be posted on my Goodreads closer to publishing date.

Nobody’s Perfect follows Vivian as she finds her self after divorce. Being married for 25 years she lost her authentic self while being a mother and a wife.

This was a fun read, I can see a lot of people relating to at least on of the characters in this book. Starting over and finding oneself is never easy and to watch Vivian character development blossom was a treat. I was rooting for her constantly. I did tear up a little bit when Vivian discovered how selfish she has been towards her mom.

I think this is a wonderful book for any adult and I certainly recommend this as a quick read.

✨Thanks to NetGalley, The Author, & Montlake Publishing for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review✨

NetGalley early release
Pub date: October 14, 2024
Rating: 3.5 ⭐️
This book is a solid 3.5 stars. It was very slow going and meh at the beginning. It didn’t get good until about the 50-ish page mark. It’s a story about finding yourself, finding your people, and learning it’s okay to be alone and how to do that. I feel like the relationship between Vivian and her mom was done well because it took time and seemed realistic. Vivian and her friend Rachel however had a bit of a tiff and they just seemed to breeze bad together - seemed highly unlikely and like it needed more to the story. Then it just kind of ended. Vivian and Parker “find love” - would’ve loved to see them engage in a relationship though instead of just oh-they-kissed-and-now-they’re-an-item-in-an-epilogue sort of way.

It's been a minute since I've read a Sally Kilpatrick book. She is a long time favorite author who had gotten away from my reading list. Vivian Quackenbush (just thinking the name in my head makes me smile) finds herself inadvertently becoming an influencer and semi You Tube star. This is her story as she learns actions can have consequences especially when you cross you mom although Mitch fit the description Vivian bestowed on him. This story had me LOL'ing but then thinking wait a minute Vivian maybe you should think twice on that one.
I found this to be an enjoyable read and give it 5 stars.
My thanks to #NetGalley for the opportunity to early read Nobody's Perfect in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I received the ARC copy for this book from NetGalley, and I had such a good time reading it! I feel like anyone who has experienced sudden life changes can resonate with the main character. I personally couldn’t connect to the divorce aspect since I’ve never been married, but following Vivian as she learns how to be an independent woman and gain her voice was cathartic. This book had me laughing one minute and misty eyed the next. I recommend! 🫶🏻
