I am totally obsessed with this. I loved every second of it. My only regret was that it took me so long to read cause I first picked it up on such a busy weekend and just wanted to come home and read it.
I’m obsessed with both Scottie and Nico they have my whole heart.
The way Nico is so protective over Scottie is the best thing ever. He would burn the whole world down for her if it hurt her.
Scottie is such a help for Nico and brought him back to life after such a hard time in his life after his knee replacement. She showed him he’s more than a tennis machine. She showed him how to be more human and enjoy his life.

Just so good! I love a sports romance, but particularly one that actually pays homage to the sport tastefully instead of being all over the place (looking at you, F1 romances...)
Meg Jones has done an amazing job crafting these characters and watching them bounce off one another was such a good experience. Definitely will be reading more of her work, especially if the playlist is as good as this one!

Clean Point is the first instalment in an interconnected Sports Romance series by author Meg Jones. Scottie Sinclair is a cheat. Or at least, that’s what the world thinks. After all, who would believe her own father secretly drugged her? The tabloids have called ‘Game, Set, Match’ on Scottie’s career–but an offer at redemption, and more importantly revenge, may give her the chance at a clean serve. Nico Kotas reigned the tennis world for almost a decade–until an injury took him from the baseline. Now with a clear bill of health, he’s hungry for one last title. But his public image needs a new game plan — and according to his coach, his former rival’s daughter is the perfect advantage. But with old enemies on the sidelines, scandal is seconds away. Because, after all, revenge is best served Centre Court.
𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲:
Clean Point is a wonderfully written story that follows the journey of two competitive athletes on their second chance to greatness and the unexpected love they find on the way. The author's writing style was engaging and had me gripped in its grasp from beginning to end. Whilst the synopsis provides ample warning that this is not your typically fluffy romance story... I was truly surprised (in a positive way) by the trauma of our main characters and how pivotal and front-centre it was within the plot. I was impressed by how author Meg Jones portrayed Scottie's abuse and the emotional whirlwind that takes place as a result. It clearly highlights abusers and their methods are not singular, and Scottie's trauma is valid and deserving of belief. I believe the author has approached this storyline with the utmost care and respect, and it sits as a reminder to be mindful and aware. Survivors deserve to be believed with a safe space to open up about their experience, and I was glad to see Scottie gain the support that she desperately needed. Clean Point is a well-written and steady paced story that has been written with a lot of heart and care, and I cannot wait to read more works by this author in the future.
𝐏𝐥𝐨𝐭:
Clean Point kicks off with a bang as we witness Scottie Rossi achieving her lifelong dream of winning the woman's singles tournament at Wimbledon. What starts off as a day for celebration quickly turns to devastation when she discovers her father, a fellow Wimbledon sporting icon, has been secretly dosing her protein shakes with performance enhancing drugs. After an injury made her dream seem unreachable, Scottie's father took it upon himself to secure his legacy and betray his daughter's ultimate trust. Feeling heartbroken and traumatised, Scottie cuts all contact with her father and comes forward about her unjust win. Afraid of being branded as a liar if she comes forward with the truth, Scottie shoulders all of the responsibility which results in a two year ban and the judgement and mistrust of her peers. Two years later we find her nearing the end of her ban with zero intention of returning to the sport she once loved. After spending time in therapy to combat her newfound trust issues and anxiety, Scottie Sinclair has done everything she can to publicly tarnish the Rossi name and legacy as revenge. Except there is no revenge sweeter than returning to the competition at the side of her father's greatest rival, Nico Kotas. The plot of the story takes us from London to Greece, and back again as our pair try to learn how to train as a team with minimal insults and threats of giving up. I found myself completely enraptured by the plot and rooting for Scottie to attain the revenge she'd been so desperately seeking. The story was well balanced and felt neither too short nor quick paced. Every element was written with intent, and the ending felt all the more sweet after the compelling and emotional journey we're taken on. I loved the addition of the news headlines and articles as it provided the reader with 'real time' narration, which helped further the believability of the story being told.
𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬:
Scottie Sinclair is a feisty and quick-witted twenty-five-year old woman with a resilient nature. Scottie's ability and commitment to proving herself in a sport that shunned her was admirable and inspiring. Her refusal to give up (despite coming close several times) was understandable and I was glad to see her gain a strong support system that showed her nothing but trust and belief. Scottie's trauma broke my heart and I was glad to see her commitment to therapy was mentioned during the two-year time jump. I was constantly rooting for her to open up and come forward about her experience as Scottie was completely undeserving of the ire and mistreatment that was flung her way, whilst feeling immense pride at how desperately she tried to take it in her stride. Her spitfire attitude made her a worthy teammate to the stoic and grumpy Nico, and watching the positive impact she had on his character was a beautiful journey to follow. Scottie is unapologetic for who she is and undergoes great character development as she slowly learns how to better advocate for herself, and I was felt genuine pride for her growth by the end.
Nico Kotas is a tennis legend who defeated the iconic Matteo Rossi at only eighteen years old. An incredible career followed with many wins and great opportunities, until an accident on the court the year prior leads to a botched knee surgery and his career in question. At thirty-three-years old Nico is young by all standards except the ones established in sport. His age places a deadline on his professional career, and he's determined to make his Wimbledon comeback before its too late. Partnering up with his rival's daughter wasn't on his bingo card, but even he can't deny how sweet it would feel to flaunt this towards Matteo. At first, Nico is incredibly rude and dismissive towards Scottie. Without knowing her he makes a quick assumption on her character and acts accordingly, however he is quickly proven wrong and realises how unfair he was behaving. His commitment and dedication for the sport he has committed his entire life to is admirable, and I loved that despite this he remains unselfish and aware. Nico isn't perfect by any means, but he remains in-tune with the emotions of others and often tries to put their needs above his own. Whilst ambitious, he is not selfishly so and I adored the complexities to his character. His unwavering support towards Scottie was everything, and I loved following his journey from beginning to end.
𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭:
The relationship between Scottie and Nico is rocky to start at best, slight volatile at its worst. Neither had been formally introduced prior to their arrangement had already pre-decided what the other was like. This resulted in personality clashing and a tense environment until the pair slowly started to lower their emotional walls and let the other in. What blossomed as a result was a beautifully raw and vulnerable emotional connection that laid the worst of themselves bare, and utter acceptance and love in spite of this. The emotional connection between Scottie and Nico is what sold them as a couple for me. Their ability to confide and lean on one another after years of shutting themselves off from connection was a rewarding development. The sheer acceptance and devotion was palpable through the pages, as was the strong support system and sense of family. Scottie and Nico were an undeniable pair that couldn't be better suited, and I was thrilled to see them come out on top in the end.
𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬:
I adored this compelling and heartfelt tale filled with many laugh-out-loud and swoon worthy moments. The characters were well-balanced and fleshed out, and I look forward to seeing who the future couples in this series will be. I already have an idea on two of them, and I cannot wait to see how their stories unfold. Author Meg Jones has stolen my heart in Clean Point and I already know I'll immediately be reading every future release that she will produce.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.
This is my favourite of the tennis romances I've read this summer! Perfect book to accompany on me on my visit to Wimbledon too!
I just loved these characters, Scottie and Nico were so fun to follow and I just loved getting to tag along on comeback journeys! I was fully invested in both their romance and the tennis.
I can't wait to go back and read Meg's first book and see what she writes next!

A tennis romance with likeable main characters and a plot that easily gathered momentum. There’s enough tennis content for the spots fans but this is equally counteracted with hit romance between the two main characters. Overall I would rate this book 3.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley, Michael Joseph Penguin Random House and the author for the chance to review.

I forgot that I’d requested this one and actually purchased the ebook a few weeks ago!
I really loved this story. I loved the setting and the rivals / enemies to lovers worked so well. Meg’s writing is great and I enjoyed the level of drama involved too. Nico was a great MMC and there were so many endearing moments between the two characters that had me so excited. I am so pleased this one is going to be part of a series as I’m super excited to read more from this author.
Thank you

Maybe I'm just a sucker for a sports romance, but this one ticked all the boxes with its competitive, steamy and slow burn nature. It almost follows the enemies to lovers trope, and I found the whole concept of the main character getting wronged but keeping it a secret a good tie throughout the book. There's good rivalry and comraderie between others on the tennis circuit which is showcased well during this. I also really loved the way the relationship develops with Niko, though he can be a bit of a hothead, and he is so so fiercely protective it's quite sweet but not overbearing.
For those who are interested, there's a decent amount of 🔥 - approx. 🌶🌶.5/5 but not the entire way through the book.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with the eARC.

Oh my gosh I absolutely loved this book! My first tennis romance and I loved the vibes with the training camp and the competition at Wimbledon! Scottie and Nico were both really fleshed out and interesting characters. Seeing their bond grow was so special and I really felt so invested in their relationship and their competition! The spice was amazing and I loved Scottie’s mum too! What an icon! Such a great summer read! Thank you for the ARC!

Clean Point is a fun and interesting romance that I really enjoyed. I read this at the same time Wimbledon was on and I really loved how immersed I felt in both because of this book! This is a great sports romance that explains the sport in a very understandable and compelling way. I was really rooting for our characters in all their matches.
The romance in this book is also excellent. The characters have great chemistry and I loved the build up to their relationship. There is also a lot of emotional Potin’s with these characters that was built in to the romance brilliantly and really made their character development and relationship believable.
Really enjoyed this book and highly recommend reading it at the same time as a tennis tournament!!

I don't think I've ever read a sports romance book with both characters involved in the sport before! So this was heavy on the tennis, seemed very realistic, I loved the competition, the romance was great.
The spice was 10/10 hot, but I did think it was a bit much with Nico's very specifically filthy dirty talk during their first time - not sure I'd be comfortable with someone talking to me in that way at that stage in the relationship.
I loved the exploration of all the struggles both Scottie and Nico went through, how they supported each other through the difficulties, and the way their relationship went from teasing rivals, to friendship, eventually turning into love.
And there was no third act break up! My deepest gratitude to Meg Jones for that.
Also, the Taylor Swift songs matched the chapters perfectly, and were absolutely on point.

I love books about sports that I don’t care about, because as soon as I’m finished reading I’m like, huh, can someone with zero fitness levels take up tennis at the age of 24??? What time is Wimbledon on? I simply will die if I don’t have one of those swishy tennis skirts idk what they’re called but I need one.
It happened after Carrie Soto, and with this incredible read, I am once again obsessed.
And I’m obsessed with Scottie and Nico. Don’t get me wrong, this book will emotionally wreck you. I can say Scottie has daddy issues but that seems WAY too light a term for what was going on there.
But Scottie and Nico! Them torturing each other (and me) made for the most agonising slow burn but it was also almost such a quick build up because they were both drooling at each other 90% of the time. However, I think this really allowed us to see their genuine relationship grow and develop as they respected each other, and then fell for each other - yes this had my heart aching!
The actual storyline with Scottie coming back as a ‘cheat’ had so many emotional ups and downs. I just wanted to pull her into a hug for most of the book! And I know it’s a romance book, but I was genuinely annoyed when Scottie’s dad wasn’t murdered at any point. Sorry for the spoiler gang, but he lives :(
This was just such a brilliant, spicy, beautiful read!! You all need to definitely pick this one up if you’ve been loving sports romances as much as the entire world has (and no you don’t need to know anything about tennis!). And I highly recommend picking up Meg’s first book Invisible String too if you want more grumpy rivals having to work together!

I've read many sports romance books before however, this is my first tennis romance and now I want more. This is my first book from Meg Jones and it did not disappoint! I loved the dynamic between Scottie and Nico, they're relation developed so naturally that it was easy to fall in love with both of them. The pace of the book was perfect, it didn't feel rushed but also didn't feel as if you never got to the romance. You could see their trust and respect for eachother develope into love for eachother and it was amazing.
Scotties and Nicos chemistry was so good, I didn't want the book to end. Nico helped rebuild Scotties love for the sports and Scottie helped improve him as a athlete. I loved the romance aspect of the book but I also enjoyed that it showed real things athlete's have to deal with in the real world and showed how gruelling being an athlete could be. Overall it was a great read and I will be looking out for any more books Meg writes in the future.
Thank you to netgalley for providing me with an ARC.

i am so pleased i got approved for this because it is now one of my favourite romances of the year and possibly ever. it’s a sports romance that feels perfect for the summer (or like, right now with wimbledon going on. the storylines for both main characters are very interesting storylines, scottie’s especially feeling very real and important. the dynamic between scottie and nico was so enjoyable to read, i didn’t want it to end. i can’t wait until this is officially realised and i can buy a copy to put pride of place on my shelf. love love loved it.
and also, every chapter starts with a song and the amount of taylor swift songs made my heart happy.

Clean point was the perfect holiday read for me while also being published during wimbledon and the emma and andy scenario felt like i was watching the book come to life. i loved loved loved scottie and nico so much, they really felt like in depth characters who were layered and relatable. I was fairly new to the megan train only readinf her first book a few weeks ago and was immediately hooked which led me here! 4*’s and is most definitely now an auto buy author.

Honestly, how can i review this absolute masterpiece because no words can do this book justice....!!!

I absolutely loved this book! While I’m a big fan of sports romances in general, I never realized how much I needed a tennis romance in my life until I read Clean Point. It truly exceeded my expectations! The story’s plot was engaging, and the pacing felt just right. The characters were well-developed, multifaceted, and easy to connect with. From the very beginning, I was captivated by Scottie!
Scottie and Nico’s relationship unfolded in such a natural and believable way. It was delightful to watch their feelings evolve and deepen as they built trust and confidence both on and off the tennis court. Their chemistry was spot-on, and their open communication was refreshing. I especially appreciated that there wasn’t a dramatic breakup towards the end.
The settings in the book were vividly described. I could easily visualize the beautiful Greek villa, the town of Lindos, and the iconic Wimbledon courts. Meg's portrayal of these places, along with the atmosphere, the weather, and the tennis matches, brought me back to the many summers I spent watching Wimbledon with my family. It made the reading experience truly enjoyable. As someone who has been an athlete for over ten years and still connected to the world of professional sports, I found the portrayal of the challenges faced by professional athletes and the sexism encountered by many female athletes to be handled with great sensitivity.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves sports romances. It’s also a perfect pick for a summer or holiday read!
Many thanks to NetGalley, Michael Joseph, Penguin Random House, and Meg Jones for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I loved this! I am a huge fan of sport romances, but I never knew how much I would need a tennis romance until Clean Point - it did not disappoint! I really enjoyed the plot and the pace of this book. The characters were well written, complex and relatable, and I was a huge fan of Scottie from the start! I liked how Scottie's and Nico's relationship developed, it felt natural and not rushed at all; it was lovely to see how the feelings for each other changed and grew, along with their trust and confidence both inside and outside the court. Their chemistry and communication were great, and I was so happy that there was not a third act breakup!
I loved the settings for the story and how everything was described - I could picture perfectly the Greek villa, Lindos, and the Wimbledon courts. Meg's descriptions of these locations, the weather, the atmosphere, the tennis games... it all brought me back to countless summer days watching Wimbledon with my family and made the reading experience so enjoyable. After being an athlete for more than a decade myself, and still having ties to the professional sport culture, I felt that the issues that professional athletes often experience, and the sexism that many female athletes suffer constantly were represented in a very sensible manner.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and will definitely recommend to any sports romance fans - t's perfect as a summer or holiday read too!
Thank you to NetGalley, Michael Joseph, Penguin Random House, and Meg Jones for the opportunity to read an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Fabulous sports romance, super well written and tackling some bigger issues within the sporting world as well as the more lighthearted and spicy parts.

Thank you NetGalley for the E-arc in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this, as someone who doesn’t know that much about tennis it was a great book to dive into. Scottie and Nico have unbelievable chemistry, I really enjoyed reading their relationship grow throughout the book. Loved the writing, I’ve been seeing reels from this author for a while on Instagram so I was really excited to give this book a read!

Clean Point is a fun tennis romance that manages to balance the romance with the plot really well. For those who are also still chasing the 'Challengers' high, this is a great read.
Our main character Scottie is finishing out a two year ban from tennis due to a doping scandal when her old coach convinces her to return to her sport, pairing her up with Nico Kotas - a player returning after a serious knee injury - for the doubles to help them both refind their confidence. Predictably, tension and shenanigans. The romance was cute, paced well and their relationship built on mutual respect (I can't believe I even have to say that but it tends to be worth mentioning).
The tennis scenes were clear and well explained. The energy could've been higher in those scenes but I enjoyed the insight to the players' strategy. As a reader who has read maybe too many sports romances, it was an interesting to dive so deeply into cheating and sabotage in said sport.
All in all, I really enjoyed this. The ending did all seem just a little bit too convenient and the plot seems to get a little muddied around 60% of the way through, but it was a lot of fun. 3.5 stars.
