Clara Felgate has known from she joined the ATS that she wanted to be a dispatch rider abroad in the thick of the war. When she arrives to begin her training bad luck seems to have followed her, with a series of accidents piling up.
Captain Perry Harrow is finding his time recovering from an operation frustrating teaching ATS women to drive he wants to be at the front line with his men, but then he meets Clara and his head is turned.
The couple face some tough times but are hopeful for a happy outcome.
Great to catch up with the Army Girls and to see how each is progressing.
Great series and look forward to more.
Absolutely love all of Fenella’s books, the storyline grips you and draws you in so you literally can’t put the book down, descriptive and a wonderful set of characters
Another great book in this series and this time Clara is the focus. She has joined the ATS and is determined to become a dispatch rider. Along the way she meets Captain Perry Harrow who should be fighting abroad but through circumstance finds himself teaching the ATS girls to drive. Clara and Perry find themselves drawn to each other but will they be able to take it further? The attention to detail gives a real insight into wartime Britain and what life was like for those serving in the forces. This has a bit of everything from friendship, drama and of course romance. I really liked how Fenella described the main characters thoughts and their interactions with each other. Looking forward to the next one! Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC
I found some elements of this book strange - it covers the war years where food was rationed/scare but that didn’t stop Clara as every thing seems to revolve around food! It a story that’s will she, won’t she that involves captain Peregrine Harrow.
I finished it purely because I wanted to see if she did! That said, it was the author’s usual well written style.
Army girls, operation winter wedding. Another great instalment of this great series by Fenella J Miller. Definitely worth reading and starting from the 1st book to get to know all the characters.
Clara’s story
Each book in this series focuses on one of a group of women who met as new ATS recruits, although the others are present even if just a bit. It’s interesting seeing the women progress in both their careers and relationships, they’ve come so far in a short time.
The reality of war is never far away, but also not graphically front and center. These are very readable stories.
Clara is young and impressionable, Perry is a bit older but determined to win Clara over. Their interactions are humorous and happy. I hope there will be another book in the series.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
What a wonderful family saga. A well written and well researched romantic story about the day to day lives of men and women who come together during the Second World War. A book well worth reading. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I always look forward to a new book from Fenella and this one did not disappoint! I found it engaging and rather romantic :) As always, I was left looking forward to the next book in the series and can't wait for it to be here! Fenella writes wonderfully about the Second World War and obviously researches her books well :)
Thanks again, Fenella - I think you're fab!
Firstly thank you Netgalley for this Arc
Another brilliant book in this series
Loving the family saga based in wartime and how the books continue from the last one so you don’t sit and think what is actually going on
I have been LOVING this series by Fenella J Miller so whenever there is a new instalment, I rush to read it!
I’ve always loved the insights into the working wartime girls and no more than the army, ATS and all that goes on behind the scenes. Fenella paints them as the most kick ass women (which they are!) and I love getting to know them. With great storylines and super likeable characters, you can’t go much wrong.
Again I was racing through the chapters and I didn’t even notice the dwindling pages. Fenella has the natural ability to absorb you wholly into a book and I’m always left wanting more! It did end somewhat abruptly but that may have been because I blinked and seemed to finish it in no time.
Forever hoping there will be endless in this series!
