A great read with well written characters.
It feels like two story's going on until they eventually come together. I particularly like Ruby's part, what a complex character she is. Mr Christmas is something else!
My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for my early copy.

Superlative Series…
Eddie Flynn and team return in this immersive and gripping suspense. The reader is pulled immediately into the storyline and introduced to Ruby, a frequent visitor and former inhabitant of one of the wealthiest neighbourhoods, as a shocking crime is committed and witnessed. Not everything will go as expected. With more twists and turns than a serpent’s tail, superb character formation and a propulsive plot, this is another excellent outing in a superlative series.

Although I have listened to all of the Eddie Flynn novels on audio this is the first time I’ve read one.
Here the reader is back with Eddie, Kate, Harry and the rest of the team as they defend an innocent man from one of Manhattan’s wealthiest neighbourhoods who has been framed for murder.
As with all of the novels in this series I was drawn in from the beginning and had no idea where the plot would go. As ever with Steve Cavanagh there are plenty of twists and many tense moments.
I love the characters and have enjoyed seeing the development of the relationships between them throughout the novels.
Another enjoyable and gripping read that I’d recommend. It can be read as a standalone but I’d recommend starting at the beginning of the series.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.

Ruby Johnson is one of "the help" - she is a nanny for some of the wealthiest families in all of New York, and whether they notice or not, she sees everything. One night while walking home, she witnesses the brutal murder of one of the residents, but she sees an opportunity - and takes the murder weapon home.

Eddie Flynn must defend the man wrongly accused of the murder - against a DA who is seeking re-election and with threats made on his life. An anonymous call was made to the police accusing his client - and with irrefutable DNA evidence and no alternative suspects, can Eddie make the impossible happen?

I was very pleased when I saw there was another Eddie Flynn book coming out - I'm a huge fan of the series and this was another great entry, so much so that I ended up reading the entire book in under a day! 5*.

There's something wrong with Ruby, that's for sure. She is a leading character in this novel, and the novel grips you from the moment you open it, so I had to finish it. I found it to be a page turner and the plot was so well crafted, also Ruby's character was so well drawn that I really enjoyed the book. A brilliant read and highly recommended.

Another brilliant book in the Eddie Flynn series.

Not a lot I can say about this one other than if you like the previous Eddie Flynn novels, you will love this one too. Cavanagh never strays too far from a winning formula but it will be interesting to see how far he can take Flynn without the novels becoming too formulaic. I think Cavanagh keeps it interesting at the moment, with some new characters and his trademark hook and twists, and here's to many more.

Thanks to Netgalley and Headline for an ARC in exchange for an honest review

This was my first Eddie Flynn book and whilst it was obvious there was history between his team it was not at all difficult to read as a standalone and the details provided about the characters probably offered a good refresher of their backgrounds. This was a fascinating read as it centres around former rich girl Ruby who is a witness to a murder but when she makes an anonymous call to the police naming the perpetrator she intentionally sets up an innocent man for the crime leading me constantly speculating as to the why. Meanwhile Eddie himself is in trouble as he has made a dangerous enemy which offers a solid secondary story with some fabulous tricks and twists. Ruby is a brilliantly complex character, in fact several of the characters are quite perverse which really strengthens the book and the two stories intertwine very well. I had some vague ideas as to the motivation behind Ruby’s actions but there were still some surprises and they all played out very well, there’s a lot of slick thinking gone into this making it a brilliantly twisty read.
