Great book in a great series by Mark Alder. Highly recommend to fans of this genre. Really great story which kept me turning the pages.

Convoluted plot with some very flat characters. The Hundred Years War + Angles + Demons sounds brilliant, and nuts and like it should be the best thing ever. The book was enjoyable. But definitely not brilliant. This book tried to be a bit too much. We needed a little less that was a bit more focused. On top of which, because of the convoluted narrative, we ended up having characters who had to explain what they were doing or feeling at any given time, instead of letting context speak for them. Prose is good. Pace is good. But I would have liked the whole book to be a bit more streamlined.
