Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of Head Teacher by H. M. Lynn. I really liked this one. It was an easy and quick read. Once I started it, it was hard to put down. The writing was good and the pacing of the book was well done. I thought I had it figured out, but I was wrong! I definitely would recommend this book to others. A 4 star rating from me.

Ooooh I really enjoyed this book, I kept putting it down and a few minutes later i would pick it up again..
Liz is the head teacher at St. Anne's a Catholic school, but not everyone was happy with her getting the position . A,photo is put up on the projector in the assembly hall of liz appearing drunk and wearing in appropriate clothing.. liz needs to find out WHO has done it and why?
When Sashas liz s daughters past is also branded around the school it's time for action. . Someone wants to bring their family down but who?????
What is in both lizs and sashas past? Is it the person who should have gotten the head teacher job that is causing the heartache????? I couldn't read it quick enough, to see what happened next....... This is the first book by this author and I'm definitely impressed.. I didn't see the end coming. It's highly addictive

Gripping, twisty and with the background story revealed in just the right way. This was a real rollercoaster and there were so many moments I thought I’d guessed right - wrongly! I was a huge fan of The Head Teacher!

"The higher you climb, the greater the fall". Introducing Liz, the head teacher of a prestigious high school whose life is about to start falling apart. Someone knows her secrets and is going to make sure everybody else knows them too!

This was almost a bit of a frustrating one to review to be honest because if I was basing my star rating on the latter 25% of the book I'd have gone higher but the first half of the book just lacked excitement. I felt like I was reading but nothing was happening and I only continued reading in the hope it would get better, which to be fair, it without a doubt did (just a little too late)!

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review 📖

I received an E-ARC with a request for my honest review.

This tense psychological thriller follows Liz, a Head Teacher at prestigious school. She has finally reached the position she desired, but with lack of support from other staff members, knows she must get this to change in the new school year.

Unexpectedly, moments from her past are shared in the school making it more difficult to keep her position in the school.

When the malicious acts start to affect her daughter, she knows she must work out who could be behind trying to bring her down.

Who can Liz trust? Why are they targeting her?

This psychological thriller is tense throughout and builds as Liz tries to uncover who could be behind the hateful reveals of her past.

Liz is a strong woman and deserves her position she has worked so hard for and shows her determination to solve the mystery even when she doesn’t know who she can trust.

It is quite scary how with technology it can be so hard to track down who could be behind an attack. With images of us all over the internet, without us even knowing.

Overall, a tense psychological thriller where a head teacher past secrets threaten to destroy her life.

This book was brilliant in creating suspense with expertly placed red herrings, making it a real page-turner that kept me hooked. The mystery of who is making Liz's life a nightmare is intriguing, and although the ending feels a bit rushed, the final revelation and the way the author ties up loose ends is well done.

However, the book falls short in a few areas. I struggled to connect emotionally with the characters, and I found the female lead to be passive-aggressive, judgmental, and overly gullible—more talk than action. Additionally, there are moments where the characters pick up intriguing ideas that aren't fully explored later in the story.

While I can't compare H.M. Lynn's work directly to authors like Frieda McFadden, Lisa Jewell, or Claire Douglas, this debut thriller is a solid introduction for readers new to the genre. Overall, it’s a decent first effort from the author.

The Head Teacher - HM Lynn

This book is a page turner from page 1 and keeps you on your toes!

The pace and writing in this book was spot on, credit to the author immediately.

The character development and tension build up was incredible.

The plot is brilliantly crafted, with layers of mystery and a rollercoaster of emotions. Could it have a different ending? Potentially. Was it awful? Absolutely not.

St. Ann's is a strict environment, and after one year in the coveted position of head teacher, I know I can't put a foot wrong. Some don't think I deserve this. Others are desperate for the job themselves. And one of those people want to bring me down. Whoever this person is, they know things about me. Secrets I've barely told anybody. And I'm scared what they might uncover if they delve a little deeper. And what they might do to me - and my family - if I don't get to them first.

Liz has been the headteacher at St Ann's for a year. She is just about to start a new term and a new year at the school. Liz and her family are trying to move on from things in her past. Things that were well-kept secrets. St Ann's is a school that demands the rules to be obeyed. Liz's daughter, Sasha, had a difficult year, and she moved to a different school. Her husband, Jamie, was supportive, but only when he wanted to be. But less than a week back at school, a shocking photo from Liz's past ends up on the school projector.

I was hooked by the end of the first chapter, and I could not put this book down. The characters were well-developed. I liked the author's writing style. I raced through this book to find out the answers.

Liz Croft has landed her dream job as head teacher of St Anne's Catholic School. Then actions from the past come back to haunt her and threaten to destroy her job and her family. Who can be behind all this? Liz begins to doubt her colleagues and friends. Her sanity is also called into question.
After a slow start, I found this to be an engaging thriller with an unexpected twist at the end. I liked the school setting and the interplay between all the different characters.
A recommended read.

I loved the premise of this book, the storyline and the setting. The twists and turns had me gripped but the protagonist, her drinking, drink driving and suspicious and opinionated attitude annoyed me at times. But then what would any of us do if the same happened to us? We too would probably doubt everyone and be driven insane. A good holiday read overall.

My first HM Lynn book but definitely not my last. Packed with secrets, lies and family ties. This was a roller coaster ride and I had no idea who to trust. Really great characters that kept me totally invested and flipping pages.
Thank you NetGalley, HM Lynn and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for sending me a ARC of The Headteacher.

I absolutely LOVED this book!!! Could not put it down! Short, punchy chapters had me hooked, especially as I work in a school. I recognised so much of the background things going on as the same as my workplace, though luckily not the dodgy photos and exam papers 🤣

Loved the writing style, loved the characters, loved absolutely EVERYTHING about this book! I wish I could go back and read it all again!

This is a new author for me and I can tell you straight away I am looking forward to more books by her hand.

From page one I was lost, lost in the story and the intrigue and suspense the author created.

I loved the path she took me on and I was wrecking my brain trying to figure out who was behind all the mayhem.

I am a fan of the writing style and the premise of this book.

I felt Liz's frustration and I loved her determination. She did not know who to trust anymore and had left only herself to count on.

The author steered the story in a direction that left me flabbergasted and then she took a u turn. Both were good, but I had a choice, I would have stayed on the first one. That's personal taste, of course.

Anyways, I utterly enjoyed this book. It kept me in it's grip until the last page. 5 stars

Thank you
