This was a great thriller. The narrative was very entertaining and enjoyable.

It was packed with suspence and intense moments. Keeping me on edge throughout.

When a girl falls from a window everyone is searching for answers. Everyone becomes a suspect.

Really enjoyed this and the concept. Quick and easy read that had me hooked. I thought I guessed what was going on but I was wrong! The last couple lines had me shocked! I would recommend reading

I liked this! Lots of twists and possibilities about what actually happened to Rachel, the girl next door. The short, fast paced chapters are told from multiple, clearly identified, POVs. It kept me guessing right to the end.
The narration of the audiobook is clear, well paced and very easy to listen to. I quite enjoyed listening to it.
Thank You to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to listen to and enjoy this ARC.

This feels a bit like the writer couldn't decide what the plot should be so wrote all of them and then randomly picked one at the end. Otherwise well written with good pacing and interesting characters.

I was a bit skeptical starting this book because the title is very vanilla and the last few thrillers I have read have been lacking. However I literally made a note to myself how explosive the opening scene was in the book. As I was listening and falling along with the named girl I knew this story would be fantastic.
The ending of the book was unique. King took the "girl next door" trope and really flipped it on its head.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for my advance copy of this audiobook

Girl Next Door is my first Karen King novel and I truly enjoyed it! Most of the books I read or listen to are mysteries / thrillers. The twist isn’t exceptionally shocking, but I enjoyed the red herrings King included to keep the reader off track. The plot of the story wasn’t exactly unique either, however, the dynamic of the main family (Ness, Aaron, Lucas, Jacob) certainly made the store more interesting. This would make a great beach book.

Thank you Netgalley, Karen King and Bookouture for the audio arc of Girl Next door.
Narrated by Tasmin Kennard.

This was my first book of Karen Kings and I really enjoyed it. Girl next door tackles the complexities of a blended family, the secrets we keep and how these secrets can destroy, not only us but other people too. This makes for a great medium to fast paced domestic thriller. I felt like the characters and the plot line had a nice balance and well fleshed out. I felt like this could be any family living down any street. Tasmin Kennard narrated this book and I always love her voice.

Vanessa and Aaron are thrilled to finally have new next-door neighbors who have children their own kids' age. Both families instantly hit it off, especially Vanessa and Aaron's two sons, Jacob and Lukas, and the new neighbor's daughter, Rachel. But paradise does not last long for the two families and soon there is trouble brewing between the teenagers. And then tragedy strikes, and Rachel's life is in danger. Many point fingers at Jacob, but was it actually him who threatened Rachel's life?

Thank you Karen King and Bookouture Audio for the complimentary audiobook in exchange for my honest and true thoughts. All opinions expressed here are mine and mine alone.

I initially enjoyed this story and plot line and was sucked in, but the ending fell a little flat in my opinion. The buildup and mystery was definitely intriguing and I really liked the multiple points-of-view from the different characters. It gave the story more suspense and inklings that lots of characters had secrets and pasts that they wanted to keep hidden.

I am glad that I received an audiobook version of this book as I loved how the narrator brought life to the story. For thrillers in particular, I typically enjoy audiobooks more since the narrator can give it an air of suspicion and guilt and intrigue. Even though the ending disappointed me, this was still a fun audiobook adventure and I recommend it for those who are looking for a quick summer suspenseful read.

Girl Next Door by Karen King is an outstanding domestic thriller narrated by the highly talented Tamsin Kennard. This is a powerhouse duo for an audiobook and every minute was enjoyable

The plot had a good pace, well matched to the storyline and dialogue, reflecting the dynamic nature of the interconnectedness between the families. A great listen and one that I now have on my audible to buy list to listen to again

Vanessa and her son Jacob live with her partner Aaron and his son Lucas - they are leading a peaceful life until Rachel moves next door - she goes to the same school as the boys, and over time they both start fighting for her.
One morning when Rachel falls from her balcony window leading to coma, Vanessa's son Jacob is accused of pushing her - everyone is saying he was jealous and wanted her all to himself. This causes a lot of familial tension leading to one boy running away from home! He is adamant that he will not come home until Rachel tells the truth once she is out of her coma.
When all the suspicion points towards one more man, more past comes out making Vanessa never to believe in anyone!

All the elders are forced to believe Jacob's innocence when the real attacker decides to make an appearance!
This was a great thriller - got hooked on from the start of it!

listened to on audio.

A story of a modern nuclear family, with step siblings viying for attention and the parents struggling to support each step child. Many families today will relate to Aaron & Vanessas struggles to keep the trust and faith whilst supporting each others children.

Who pushed Rachael? or did she jump?

This was an interesting story with a good twist - i am not sure that the book title reflects the storyline though.

its worth a read but it left me a little flat at the end.

4 stars.

I couldn't put this book down! It tells the story of neighbors and how quickly they can go from best friends to enemies. The neighbors become friends, and then one of their teenagers is found unconscious after seemingly falling out of a window. Rachel is in a coma and the two neighbor boys are the prime suspects. The parents are no longer speaking and the boys are fighting with each other. I thought I figured it out, only to be mistaken.

It kept me listening and intrigued, I couldn't wait to be able to hear it again! The plot had me hooked! The narrator was great and I was able to tell each character apart. I highly recommend it!

Thank you, Bookouture Audio for this advance copy in exchange for my review.

I really enjoyed Girl Next Door and thought it was quite fast-paced.
The cast was great, and I loved the relationship dynamics between Ness, Aaron and their sons.
The one criticism I have is with the ending. Not the final reveal in the epilogue but the reveal previous to that. It just felt like there was so much build up and then we were left with a very short explanation.
At the same time however, we certainly didn't see that coming.

If you're a fan of Liz Lawler and Sheryl Browne then this is the book for you.

🎧📖 note: Tamsin Kennard did a wonderful job navigating all of the characters. She has become one of my favourite narrators.

The Girl Next Door is a medium-paced domestic thriller. A new family moves in next door and the teenage girl quickly becomes friends with the two high school boys as both families settle into a comfortable friendship. All is going well until the teens seem to have a falling out. It escalates when Rachel, the girl next door falls from her bedroom window and is in a coma for several days. Did she fall or was she pushed? Was it an accident or part of the falling out between the teenagers? Or is this something else entirely? The book had great narration and although I wanted to love the plot and storyline, I only 'liked' it. It was a good weekend read and I would like to see what else Karen King will write next, depending on the plot line, I may read/listen to it.

This was a very quick and fast paced read. I couldn’t put it down and ended up finishing it in one day!! I honestly couldn’t figure out what was going to happen and how it would all end. Unfortunately, the ending fell short for me. There was so much buildup and mystery leading to the big reveal, and I felt the big reveal didn’t measure up and did not explain some of the behaviors, that was going on throughout the book. However, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book because it was fast pace and kept me engaged until the very end.

I listen to this book on audio, and while I feel the narrator did a decent job because she had to voice several different characters. I wish that they were different narrators for each POV.

I recently had the chance to receive an advanced copy of "Girl Next Door" by Karen King, thanks to NetGalley. During a road trip from Lake Tahoe to Las Vegas, I found myself completely engrossed in this audiobook. It not only kept me awake but also held me in suspense throughout the journey. Remarkably, this was the first book I've ever listened to in a single day, and I'm delighted that I did.

King expertly crafted the dynamics between the two sons and their parents, creating a realistic and compelling conflict that had me guessing what would happen next—and then it did. One challenge I encountered was the similarity in plot to "The House Across the Street," which I had listened to just before. Both books are excellent, but I would recommend spacing them out to appreciate their unique elements more fully.

This book kept me guessing. I really didn’t know who was the “bad guy” and was delighted by the refreshingly original reveal at the end.

I will definitely look for more books by this author.
