Love this book and this series. The expat British DCI, Dan Armstrong, and his faithful dog, Oscar, are finally taking a well-earned holiday with Dan's Italian professor girlfriend, Anna. But, once again, Dan & Oscar become embroiled in solving a case. This time, it includes a whole yacht full of British TV stars and the production company bigwigs. When one is discovered dead in questionable circumstances, Dan is drawn into another case that utilizes his Italian/English skills along with his formidable experience with the Metropolitan Police. The one question Dan can't solve is how Anna will react to yet another interruption by murder!

It's hard to believe that we're on book 8 in the Armstrong and Oscar Cozy mysteries, but we are:)

Murder in Portofino perhaps takes a while longer than others to 'get going.' Instead, we're treated to Dan, and Oscar enjoys some 'downtime' with Anna, who is close to Portofino. But, of course, our duo seem to attract mystery to them, and so we are soon embroiled in a luxury yacht and its inhabitants, with not one but two crimes to solve.

I thoroughly enjoyed this new addition to the series. I always appreciate the fact that the mysteries are consistently more complex than anticipated, and like Dan, we have to follow the lines of investigation to determine the truth.

A fine new addition to the series. Always a reliable and engaging read. I'm already looking forward to book 9:)

missing-persons, private-investigators, ex-cop, cozy-crime, friendship, friends, relationships, siblings, divorced, Labrador-dog, cooperation, embezzling, investigations, Italy, law-enforcement, murders, relationship-issues, unpleasant-victims, unputdownable*****

It started with a request to find an apparently missing young teacher of English, but she was not the body found in the marina in Portofino. Dan Oscar, and the girlfriend take a holiday to do a simple investigation, but it goes south with the discovery of the first body. Then there's the next body, embezzling, and more. Plus there's the lovely descriptions of the area as well as Oscar's antics.
I requested and received a free temporary EARC from Boldwood Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

Wholly Enjoyable..
The eighth outing in the Armstrong and Oscar series of mysteries and a relaxing trip to Portofino is on the cards for Dan, girlfriend Anna and the ever delightful Oscar. Needless to say, relaxing is never really on the cards at all with this particular sleuthing duo and when a body washes up on a beach the investigations begin. Another wholly enjoyable and entertaining instalment to the series with a delicious backdrop, a well crafted and likeable cast and a pacy, well written narrative.

A much-needed holiday…. Dan Armstrong hasn’t done much retiring since moving to Tuscany, and with his new career as a successful private investigator taking off, it seems murder seems to follow him. He’s hoping a much-needed trip to beautiful Portofino will give him the break he needs and quality time with girlfriend Anna! Good book! And great series! This book and series is a bit of a cozy mystery type but with a bit more grit! I definitely enjoyed reading this book! It had suspense, intrigue, a great who done it and some crazy twists and turns! The story was very interesting! I definitely recommend reading this book and series! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

There's just something about this man and his labrador that I find so appealing. While on the one hand, you want a formula, you want an idea of what to expect. On the other hand, not to the point where you know what's coming. So far, each story has kept me interested throughout. And, I've read every one. Some, a couple of times. Dan moves around Italy with each book and this time we visit Portofino. It was supposed to be a break away but...

In contrast to other series in this genre, the pace is gentle and in most instances, the authorities are happy for this PI's assistance and insights, recognising his long career as. a DCI in London. His cooperative approach and friendly, easygoing nature are making him friends across the country!

I found this to be another well-thought-through plot, with interesting characters. The author continues to pull many elements together to create an entertaining and cozy murder mystery.

Well done TA Williams and Boldwood Books. I highly recommend this episode and the series if you like a gentle, flowing interesting story. and look forward to the further escapades of Dan and Oscar.

It's five out of five for me

With thanks to Netgalley, Boldwood Books and the author for my advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

I'm always delighted to hear about, and indeed read, a new novel in the Dan and Oscar series, and Murder In Portofino. Dan is a character I've warmed to since the beginning of the series. I love his fair and compassionate approach and his ability to think outside the box and use his gut instinct. However, I've never really written much about Oscar and this is a huge oversight on my part. Although he's a labrador, he's as important a part of the investigation as Dan. I love TA Williams’ descriptions of his facial expressions and I love the respect he and Dan have for each other.

As the title suggests, Murder In Portofino is set in Portofino and, once again, TA Williams does a great job of helping the reader to picture the surroundings and feel as though they are in the sunshine in Italy, even though the weather outside is awful! This novel is set on a yacht and I really enjoyed the insight into the parties that were taking place there, with wonderful food and drink as always.

The suspects in Murder In Portofino are the guests on the yacht - mostly actors and television executives, who it seems cannot resist some real life drama! TA Williams builds the tension between them brilliantly and this leaves us with a lot of people who could be responsible for murder. I couldn't wait to find out what had happened and I loved the red herrings along the way.

I'll end this review as I always do, by saying that I hope there are plenty more books in this series to come.

Another great book in this series. This time Dan is taking a much needed holiday with his girlfriend, when asked to help the locals out with an investigation. Torn between his promise to take time off from work, and his dedication to helping solve crimes, Dan tries to balance the two. Along with his trusted four legged companion, they end up getting involved, as a second body its discovered. This time, the solution to the crimes have them all baffled, until Dan is able to put some pieces together.
Love the characters, the beauty of the setting, and the captivating plot. Can't wait until the next book!
