T.S. Eliot's secret love was far more than he deserved!
Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2024
Emily Hale, an accomplished stage actress, director, producer, and college professor, was T.S. Eliot’s lifelong secret love. She inspired his writing. She was loyal and faithful, patiently waiting for the day when he would be free to marry her. And he betrayed her, not once, but twice. He was a cad; she was the hero, responding with grace and dignity. Thanks to Sara Fitzgerald's meticulous research and storytelling ability, "The Silenced Muse" reads like a novel that smolders with a slow burn. We hear Eliot's voice from the scores of letters Hale saved over the years, which were recently made available to the public; sadly, her letters were destroyed by Eliot. You don't need to be a fan of T.S. Eliot or know a lot about him to enjoy this book. I highly recommend it.
