This is a cozy mystery, very easy to read. I had read some reviews about this book and decided I would like to read it. Alice Beeton, a distant relative of Mrs Beeton, the author of Household Management amongst others, has set up an agency to supply household staff to wealthy families.
When one client requests a replacement as soon as possible, Enya just happened to be looking for a job and happen end to be in the office at that particular time. Alice wasn’t as particular as usual with references and such like, so Enya was employed. Well, I won’t spoil the story, but murder and theft are involved! Of course, being a cozy mystery, it has a satisfying end. My thanks go to NetGalley, Josie Lloyd and Harper Collins for an arc of this enjoyable book.

Fans of Agatha Christie and cosy murder mysteries will love this modernised Marple-esque story.

A fairly quick read, I blasted through it in two days, mainly because it was a real page turner and i got easily hooked into the storyline.

Miss Beeton (yes, a descendant of THAT Mrs. Beeton) runs a successful home help agency, putting her prestigious clients in touch with Chefs; Chauffeurs; Waitresses; PAs; Cleaners and domestic assistants. Discretion is her middle name and decorum is as natural to her as breathing. However, when a domestic assistant she has recently placed with a very prestigious family suddenly drops dead on New Year's Eve (mid party I may add - how uncouth!) and there is noone else to replace the employment, Miss Beeton and her trusty dog Agatha (yep after that Agatha) have to fill in undercover in order to keep the client satisfied. Is everything as it seems in this family though? And is there something more to this death than the police are willing to admit?

Miss Beeton is propelled into a secret life of undercover crime sleuthing and when her dog Agatha is taken hostage - she just HAS to solve the case.

Interspersed with recipes from Christmas Cake to stew, (im unsure whether they are really Mrs Beeton recipes or not its not clear! But they certainly could be... ) the whole book has quite a twee, homely feel to it, easily readable and a feel good heartwarming mystery.

The recipes were totally corrupted in the unedited pre-release version I read which is a shame as id have loved to have made some of them!

Thanks to the publisher, the author and Netgalley for this ARC.

What an absolute joy this book is! It was the tonic that I didn’t know I needed. It’s just lovely, fantastic characters (all of who I loved, and felt I knew), a brilliant plot..a potential romance??…hmmm…I think I fancy him myself actually.

Absolutely loved it - and I did not get the murderer correct either. What a sleuth Miss Beeton is. I need more!!

My thanks to Netgalley and Rachel Quin Marketing for this absolute joy, in exchange for an honest review.

Miss Beeton's Murder Agency is a delightful read and the excellent start to a new series featuring a diverse set of characters that are quirky, relatable and endearing.

Alice Beeton runs the the Good Household Management Agency and one of her members Enya that she placed in service is found dead , she can't help but turn into the sleuth that Agatha Christie would be proud of.

Enya it seems wasn't who Alice thought she was.

Alice is determined , she made me laugh and she is a formidable investigator but has so much more on the go with recipes

Her dog Agatha stole my heart.

Miss Beeton's Murder Agency is a cozy mystery lover's delight and I for one cant wait to see what adventure Alice Beeton takes us on next.

Thanks to NetGalley and HQ for the privilege of reading and reviewing this wonderful new series.

Delicious mix of murder and cookery with a side of humour and country houses. Enjoyable light crime that should make a series as Miss Beeton and the detective are rather good together.

This is a good murder mystery and the connection to Mrs Beeton's book of housekeeping is a nice twist. The mystery itself was interesting and involving with red herrings and curve balls aplenty. An enjoyable read all round. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Alice Beeton runs The Good Household Management Agency, a company that vets domestic staff for wealthy clients. When one of her placements is murdered Alice, along with her friends, investigates.

Josie Lloyd has written Miss Beeton's Murder Academy with a lightness of touch and gossipy style, which puts it firmly in the cosy crime genre. Combined with the cosy crime is another popular addition, the inclusion of recipes. This works particularly well as the main character, Alice Beeton, is a distant relative of Mrs Beeton.

Alice is the wrong side of fifty but is mainly content with her life. She has a wide circle of friends, a successful business and her beloved dog, Agatha. There are a couple of niggles; the noisy upstairs neighbours and the fact that her brother seems to be letting the family home fall into ruin.

Serendipity is at work when a young woman, Enya, signs on with the agency. At almost the same time Alice fields a call from a client desperate for a replacement housekeeper immediately. Enya seems to be the perfect fit and is able to start right away. Within days Enya is found murdered and the police are struggling to discover the culprit. Alice, thanks to her love of crime fiction, decides to go undercover as the new housekeeper to investigate and finds herself embroiled in high-end art theft.

During the investigation, Alice is supported by a host of friends. I loved the two women who work at the agency, Helly and Jinx. Jinx is a complete contrast to Alice. She's flamboyant, outspoken and seems to know everyone. There are also a couple of characters who have highly prized skills thanks to their previous employment working for the security services.

The first two-thirds of the book is really just developing the characters and setting the scene, the action doesn't begin to happen until the final third, and I felt this let the story down. I loved all of the characters and the gossipy style but just felt the pace was too slow. I would certainly read a sequel now that I've got to know all the characters.

Alice Beeton provides domestic help to her wealthy clients through her agency Good Household Management Agency. Alice is a distant relative of the well renowned cookery author, Mrs. Beeton.
When Alice has to take on the role of housekeeper to one of her clients, she becomes embroiled in a murder investigation.
This is a fun, enjoyable and heartwarming story. A cozy whodunnit mystery full of well-developed and likable characters.
I liked the inclusion of recipes but on my kindle they were not formatted properly.
Looking forward to the sequel.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley UK for the ARC.

This is a cosy crime story which is certainly a fun read! Alice Beeton’s Household Agency places domestic staff with families. Run by Alice, a descendant of Mrs Beeton, who wrote the famous cookery and house management book, the agency is staffed by some wonderfully endearing characters. When Enya, a new member of staff, is sent to a French family and is subsequently murdered, Alice decides to investigate and manages to get herself employed as the housekeeper in the Messent family’s house. Can one of them really be a murderer?
This leads to all sorts of high jinks and danger as she tries to work out what happened. There is also a handsome police detective and a very cute dog called Agatha, named after the famous mystery writer. What more could a mystery reader want?
I really enjoyed this book and its amazing assortment of characters- particularly Alice and her friend Jinx. As they try to solve the mystery they have to use their own skills to find out what has happened. Jinx has expertise in areas where Alice is lacking so they compliment each other! Jinx is into fashion and clothes whereas Alice is a keen cook which enables her to work well as a housekeeper. Jinx is fun and keen to help out when Alice needs a further disguise for a trip to a nightclub.
This was a quick, light read which certainly held my attention and made me want to read more about “Miss Beeton’s Murder Agency” and the characters so brilliantly described by the author.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my advance copy.

Thank you to the Author and net gallery for reaching out to me and letting me read this arc copy it was really nice of you. This is such a great murder mystery book and i throughly enjoyed reading it.
I liked the recipes throughout the story as it’s such a good touch to the book as it gets people baking. The final exposure of the killer was such a shock and a surprise and I didn’t expect it at all. Alice Beaton is such a good character and I like how the author as written Alice and how she describes Alice I think Alice is my favourite character in this book. This book is going to be a big hit for all the crime and cosy crime fans like myself. The other characters are all really good and so much thought has been given to each and every one of them even the minor characters and to why they are in the story and how they fit in. I really enjoyed trying to figure out who the murder was and why the did it. It’s such a cute and interesting book and I am hoping there is going be more from Miss Alice Beeton as I can see this being a really good book series. I would love to read more by this author in the future. Highly recommended book xxx

I can't resist a new cosy mystery series, and if this first book - Miss Beeton's Murder Agency - is anything to go by, it promises to be an engaging series.

Alice Beeton, a distant relative of the famous Victorian expert Isabella Beeton, runs a household management agency in London ... most of the time. But when one of her new hires (a new recruit she possibly did not vet thoroughly enough) is found murdered, Alice can't resist getting involved in the investigation (even when the rather dashing detective tells her the case has been passed "upstairs" to his bosses - a red flag for intrigue if ever there is one!)

While the setting and characters are interesting and, for the most part, engaging, the story does lag in parts and the mystery solving aspect is confusing at times, but Alice's determination (even going under cover) to get to the truth is admirable and often chaotically amusing. As a dog lover, Alice's best furry friend, Agatha steals the show, but I was mortified that an Interpol agent would act the way she did regarding Agatha. 'll not spill the beans here, but needless to say, be ready to be furious at their tactics.)

In general, the story has the comforting vibes of a cosy mystery, with a cast of quirky and very likeable characters in support of Alice's effort to solve the mystery. The set up for future books in the series is solid, and I'll definitely look out for the next book.

On a side note - as the book was an advanced copy, the recipes were illegible due to dodgy formatting - thus not fulfilling that important cosy requirement of making me want to cook something delicious :)

It's an entertaining, easy read, hitting the cosy tropes well, and with an unusual premise.

What a delightful cosy crime book! I thoroughly enjoyed, what I hope to be a new series by one of my all time favourite authors!

Alice Beeton is a distant relation to the one and only Isabella Beeton. Alice bases her whole life on following in her footsteps to have the most perfectly organised household for her brother and clients of her business the Good Household Management Agency. Alice loves crime books and has even named her dog Agatha after her favourite author. One day her two passions collide and she finds herself trying to solve a real life murder! I did think this may have been a Christmas book but it was only Christmas for a few chapters!

This book is the perfect recipe for this new cosy crime genre that I so love. It isn’t the most fast paced book but I still couldn’t help wanting one more chapter and quickly got to the end. There was no big twist but there was still a good level of intrigue to see who did it and why!

One of my favourite bits of this book is that we get the recipes that Alice is cooking and I am already planning on when I can cook them! A crime and recipe book in one!

This Miss Beeton runs a staffing agency for placing nannies, housekeepers, chefs etc into the homes of the rich and famous. When one of these placements turns up murdered Alice feels duty bound to find out why.
The start of another cosy crime series which I’m sure will be very successful.

‘Miss Beeton’s Murder Agency’ is the first instalment of a new cosy crime series featuring Alice Beeton, proprietor of an agency providing domestic staff to the rich and famous. She has only recent taken on Enya and placed her in the house of a wealthy art dealer when Enya is tragically murdered. Shocked, Alice sets out to investigate what happened to her former employee. The best way to do this, of course, is to metamorphose into a housekeeper herself … but what will happen when she comes across the equally formidable Detective Rigby of the Metropolitan Police who intent on his line of investigation? And when Alice’s initial research uncovers more secrets than answers about Enya?
As reviewers before me have written, this is a slow build of a crime novel, with much emphasis on careful characterisation of the literary cast that comes at the expanse of ‘page turning’ dramatic twists and turns. A quietly enjoyable novel – thak you to the publishers and to NetGalley for the free ARC that enabled me to produce this book review.

A perfect cosy Christmas book. I loved the concept of a good housekeeping agency and there wold be no one better than Alice Beeton, a distant relative of the famous Mrs Beeton. When one of her staff is found dead, Alice goes undercover to investigate. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and struggled to put it down. There were some twists and turns and I did chuckle at her brother and his wife. Definitely one to curl up with on an afternoon wirth a blanket and hot chocolate.

I was sent an advance digital copy of this wonderful book in return for an honest review. This was a very heartwarming book, with really good characters and a great story. It's such a shame this copy didn't include the recipes because I would have loved to try them! I'd love to read the next one if there is ever another book and l'll definitely recommend this to friends!

A fantastic and highly enjoyable cosy crime novel featuring the incomparable Miss Alice Beeton and her trusty hound Agatha. Alice is a huge crime writing fan and dreams of solving crimes whilst running her London-based agency which provides household staff to the great and good, or not so good, ably assisted by her oldest friend Jinx. When one of their placements comes to a sticky end, Alice becomes personally embroiled in the investigation. As Alice is a distant relative of “that” Mrs Beeton, she is a natural whizz in the kitchen and many of her recipes are recreated within the text.
It’s a fab quick read and I look forward to reading of their further adventures in the future.
My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley. This review was written voluntarily and is entirely my own unbiased opinion.
