This is a fab idea to get people engaged and having fun with reading. I love the bingo (I’m an absolute sucker for book bingo on social media) and the idea of sharing a review you’re proud of.
The graphics are great and the welcome pack is put together well. It explains everything about the event and looks fab.
I was just thinking yesterday when I was out and about with my friend visiting our local library and a bookstore how much I missed participating in a summer reading program. As an adult it stinks that there aren't really summer reading program options for us. Well until now! :) Camp NetGalley feels like the summer reading program I loved to participate in as a kid. I'm excited about bingo and the talent show! And for next year, it would be super cool if somehow a zoom book club with an author here on NetGalley could be arranged where we could discuss their book and ask them questions!
First time Camp NetGalley participant. Looking forward to all of the activities this month as my husband tells everyone he is a book widow! I cannot help it, I love to read!
I’m excited for Camp NetGalley! This looks for new members and OGs alike, and a great way to connect.
This is a really cute way to get readers involved. I love the camp vibes and activities that are offered. It’s nice that we can participate at our own pace. Very fun!
Camp NetGalley! What a great idea. I'm looking forward to Bingo and collecting stickers. Oh, and the Camp NetGalley badge!!
How exciting. I've had a lot of friends ask me on tips and tricks about getting ARCs and I'm excited to share this information with them. Thank you for making this like a fun camp for us ARC readers!
Super duper excited to participate in this activity with NetGalley! This will be my first but most definitely won’t be my last! Such a cute little idea.
Very cute option to keep readers engaged during the summer! I'll probably complete some of the challenges, but not all.
This was a really short overview so I feel silly submitting a review. Looking forward to participating in the activities this month!
This is a super fun idea! I love bookish bingo cards and the “talent show” is an awesome way to share reviews too!
This looks like such a fun summer activity - I really like the idea of the BINGO card and can't wait to get started!
Great way to get people motivated about reading and reviewing by having fun. Love the bingo board idea.
This sounds like a lot of fun and good way to get motivate to read! I’m excited to get started. Thanks NetGalley. I always appreciate these fun things you do for us readers.
I am so excited for this!!! I have really missed my boys participating in these types of activities now that they are teenagers, especially the summer reading challenges with the local library. They always had cool things to fill in and now it’s my chance! They would always get a certificate and prize, the badge will be my own prize!! I can’t wait!
An idea for next year could be a challenge, where everyone writes a blurb for a book they would write.
I am very excited to be participating in Camp NetGalley! Thank you to NetGalley for creating fun, interactive events like this!
🚣♀️ You either like this book or you don't, but it all comes down to one thing, whether you are a nature lover and if you've somehow survived in life.
If you find solace in looking at clear blue skies, the rain, feeling the breeze on your skin, the sight of sunlight or sound of raindrops on leaves, star gazing, the croaking of frogs, bird songs, leaves rustling, the true sounds of this planet, if these bring you happiness, even for a moment: THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU
If you and/or your family were not at the greatest place growing up, but it only got better with time, if you survived, and if this moment, right here, was better than yesterday, then: THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU
Woven into this phenomenal and beautiful tale of the Marsh, is a story of survival, and in the heart of it, a lovestory and broken hearts, made even better with a crime/thriller element.
As soon as I started, few chapters in, the landscape and the writing reminded me of Village by the Sea, by Anita Desai, a compulsory reading book in school that deeply resonated with me, and I found Where the crawdads sing doing the same to me with every page I turned.
What Desai's novel set in a quaint seaside village lacked, a love story and a murder, this book completes, but Kya here, unlike the Protoganists of VBS had to do it all alone.
And the intimacy among the characters in where the crawdads sings, is not much, maybe a couple pages combined, but what little there is, stirs up a lot of emotions, proving what a great writer Delia Owens is.
I was overwhelmed with a lot of emotions while reading, me being a flora person in general, with a deep affection for native plants, started seeing the fauna around me through a different lens too.
My favourite scene in hints? "Deed + 310 Acres + 800$", I was tearing up so much.
This is not just Kya's story, it is the story of the Marsh, and at the end of it, I felt like I lived a lifetime, and the surrounding felt weird, disconnected.
Hence, adding another book completing my TOP 5 that I would protect with all my heart and soul, my legacy.
And my very first: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This feels like a good way to get motivated to read and review books this summer. I'm looking forward to get started.
This sounds like a lot of fun! Can’t wait to see what bookish actives are planned out for the camp. I hope to be able to participate as much as possible.
I love this idea! The Bingo sheet is so adorable and I can’t wait to play! I’m ready for camp 🏕️
5 stars!
